  1. I am starting a simple timeline thread for N-400 filers whose field office is Los Angeles, Santa Ana or San Diego. I complied three timelines from May 2016 - March 2017 VJ filers. I would appreciate if you can add or update your case status so that everyone can get an idea about field office progress in southern California. These timelines may be not reflect the current status because some of VJers may have given up, was denied or didn't update their status. 4. Hello, I'm looking for a little advice. I'm currently eligible to apply for citizenship as I've been married to my wife, and been a permanent resident for 3 years. My Green Card says "Resident since 04/2016. I'm beginning the online form of the N-400, and it's been great up until the travel outside of the US part. It's been asking for 5 years worth of information, where as I thought I fell in the 3 year route (Because of my US spouse). Other places online say to treat that question as if it's asking for 3 years, in which I haven't been outside of the US. So basically, do I need to provide 5 years worth of travel information? I don't want to lie in the form, and want to make sure everything is correct. Thank you.
  5. Hi, I am creating this group for filers within the jurisdictions of the three field offices: NYC, Queens and Long Island, to share their N-400 application progress and experiences along the process. I am a September filer at New York City Field Office. I filed my application online on 9/6/2017. I received notification that USCIS has scheduled me for biometrics appointment. I am still waiting for the letter to arrive in the mail to find out the date and time of my appointment.
  6. filed n-400 Online= OCT 7 2018 PF= OCT 17 2018 Review biometrics= Oct 29 2018 Status= pending for interview Sacramento please free to add timeline thanks good luck everyone.
  7. Going by the monthly threads it seems like there is a slowdown in progress. Not to say no movement for recent month for Mt laurel and Newark New Jersey It was running at about 3-7 months to now but no movement so far. Im a September filer and was hopeful that I'd be done by year end or the early start of 2018 but I'm starting to doubt that. Anyone else from Newark/ Mt laurel New Jersey feeling frustrated or have any positive stories other that what I'm seeing here? I If you guys don’t mind adding your time line Here is mine Moxa1989.........|12/05/12|09/20|09/28|10/02/17|10/16/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|Newark, NJ..........|NBC
  8. Hi guys, I wanted to know how to complete the N-400 as there is a section that asks for the current legal name which apparently should be as per the birth certificate (BC). While applying for residency, it was never asked to provide this name from the BC, instead I was asked to provide as per my passport, so the name that I've used since then is always the name on my passport. Now the issue is like this. Let say I was born Mathew, but my passport had my name Matthew and I've always used the name in my passport as my legal name. I have all the passports from the time I was born to show the difference between my BC and the Passport. Now, what is the best way to enter my name on the application without causing too many problems?
  9. I am married to US citizen from 2014. Filed to remove condition on March 2016. Received REF on March 2017 (Not enough joint financial documents) Responded to REF April 2017. Got I-551 stamp May 2017. Contacted USCIS to follow up and was told the case has been transferred to local office. I guess it means we will be asked for an interview. Filed for N-400 to expedite the interview on August 2017. Now, US citizen spouse is asking for divorce!! I am waiting for possible interview letter and any day I might get the interview scheduled. She is pushing me to get mutual divorce since it is faster. otherwise the divorce will take over a year since we must spend 1 year separated before filing. Now I am stuck with her wanting divorce and I do not know to agree to get mutual divorce or let her file herself and go through this long divorce process.· If she files for divorce by herself, It will take over a year and half. What will happen to my status with 2 pending immigration cases and pending divorce decree?· How about I agree to get mutual divorce. Then what should I do with my pending I-751 and N-400? Should I go to interview? Will I get into trouble to get mutual divorce?
  10. hello everyone! due to bad weather my citizenship interview was canceled last minute in Denver, Colorado. I got a call from USCIS at 5:30 p.m. the day before saying hazardous weather blah blah we will reschedule you as soon as possible. Sadly since we are not from the area we had traveled to Denver that morning and checked in into our hotel for 1 night and it was too late to turn around argh argh argh. I am wondering if anyone has experience this in Denver or any other cities to see how your timelines changed because of this. I would like to know how soon "as soon as possible" might be since it was not me who requested to reschedule... do we go into a pool of people that need to be rescheduled because of weather or are we thrown into a pool of people that USCIS has to rescheduled because of XYZ reasons. thanks for sharing your experiences /comments/advice in advance!!!

  12. Good afternoon My interview for my naturalization was cancelled 2 weeks ago and a new interview was just scheduled for 04/10/2019. I don't know if I am paranoiac but my first interview was scheduled in the afternoon and this one as well. Based on USCIS the Salt Lake office was is supposed to be closed at that these times. Does anyone recall going to their interview outside of the opening hours listed on the USCIS website? Are the hours listed on the website related only to infopass? Thank you for your input
  13. I am filling form n400 and have a question. Here is my situation: I have traffic violation. All of them are misdemeanor (NO DUI or any thing serious). I have traffic tickets and parking ticket and i paid them all in full. There is one traffic ticket: i drove on wrong lane and didn't carry car insurance. For this one, i went to court and i admitted that was my fault to drove on wrong lane and showed my valid car insurance. Luckily Judge didn't charge me anything and let me go. For part 12: Additional Information About You. Question 22 to 27. i confuse the term "crime". Is traffic violation one kind of crime? Here is my answer for questions. Please let me know if i am correct: 22: Have you EVER committed, assisted in committing, or attempted to commit, a crime or offense for which you were NOT arrested? --> My answer: YES. Cause i got traffic ticket and not get arrested 23: Have you EVER been arrested, cited, or detained by any law enforcement officer (including any immigration official or any official of the U.S. armed forces) for any reason? ---> My Answer: YES. I got cited for traffic violation 24: Have you EVER been charged with committing, attempting to commit, or assisting in committing a crime or offense? ---> My Answer: YES. I got charged for some traffic tickets and paid them in full. 25: Have you EVER been convicted of a crime or offense? ---> My Answer: YES. I assume traffic violation is one kind of crime. Even thought they are misdemeanor 26: Have you EVER been placed in an alternative sentencing or a rehabilitative program (for example, diversion, deferred prosecution, withheld adjudication, deferred adjudication)? ---> My Answer: NO . I am not sure about this answer 27: A Have you EVER received a suspended sentence, been placed on probation, or been paroled? ---> My Answer: NO Please let me know if any of my answer is wrong.
  14. I am currently filing an N-400 application for citizenship, but do not know the date my current spouse became a citizen, a required date needed to submit my application. We have been married since 1990. He became a citizen about 25 years ago. We do not remember the exact day and have since misplaced the paperwork. After a bit of research, I have found N-565, application for replacement naturalization/citizenship document, but with the cost of $555 it's a bit out of our budget. Is there any other way to obtain this information through public records or at a local court? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  15. I'm currently waiting for my case filed I-751 and still on process but Im planning to apply N-400 too as well. My situation right now is we're gonna be based in Japan by the end of this year because my husband is in Navy. Can I able to file my citizenship right now while still waiting for my I-751 on the process? And I saw the USCIS website that I could file citizenship online is it better than file it by mail? Thank you
  16. I have a problem. I'm am doing my form N-400 and I am stuck at the part where I have to submit the tax returns for the past 3 years. My husband and I have been filing as married filing jointly for the past two years. However three years ago I filed as head of household under a different address other than the one I lived on. The reason is because I supported my mom and siblings 100%. I rented an apartment under my name and paid all of their bills since my mom had separated and couldn't work due to health issues. She would take care of my child while I worked. I did not lived with them. The person who filed my taxes convinced me this was the best choice to get most of my tax return and the right one because since I was supporting them I was Head of Household. That is now a problem since I can't submit that as proof of our marriage and it seems to be required. On top of that all of the bills are under my name. We don't have joint bank accounts. I only have him as a driver under my auto insurance and that's it. I am thinking about waiting another year to submit my application since then I would have 2017, 2018 and 2019 under both of our names. I recently had gotten my permanent green card on November, 2018 and since it's been over 3 years I really wanted to submit my application for citizenship. Regarding the tax thing, is that even legal? If it is, are they going to have a problem with that?

  20. Hi everyone, Had a question on Naturalization Oath Ceremonies in Sacramento, CA. Does the Sacramento Field Office have Judicial Oath Ceremony any more? (even as a special ceremony, as they seem to have changed to Administrative Oaths recently). The reason I am asking is because, I would like to change my name and that requires a Judicial Oath Ceremony. From reading many online posts, I know I absolutely need to get the "Name Change" Court Order certificate, and hence there needs to be a Judicial Oath Ceremony. Can someone share their recent experience with changing Name in Sacramento? Things have changed recently, so ideally looking for some experience in 2013 or possibly 2012. Thank you!

  22. When USCIS sends a notice for the Citizenship (N-400) interview, does it list the things you will need to bring with you to the interview? If not, what do you all recommend to bring to the interview? Applied under the 5 years permanent resident status category.
  23. This is a question for the I-751/N-400 combo filers from Chicago, it seems like in Chicago there isn't a combo interview for your I-751 and N-400. From the looks of it or at least from reading 2-3 online experiences, it seems like you first have a N-400 interview, then an I-751 joint interview followed by another N-400 where you are finally approved . This seems to be causing significant delays as opposed to waiting out for the I-751 approval and then applying for the N-400.Perhaps I am getting the timelines wrong, but can anyone from Chicago who applied for their N-400 while their I-751 was pending share their experiences ?
  24. Hi All, I was looking for some clarification on when my wife can file for citizenship. She came over on a K1 Visa and now has a Green Card (received in July 2016). We have filed for removal of conditions in 2018 and as it is for everyone else, the process has been delayed up to 18 months. We have received the letter so we are patiently waiting. No issues there. However, my wife will have her Green Card 3 years as of July 2019 at which time the conditions will not have been removed. We are expecting the conditions to be removed near the end of 2019 based on the extension letter. My question is: Can we file for citizenship after she has been here 3 years or do we have to wait for the conditions to be removed before we apply? Thank you all for your help as always. Charlie
  25. My situation is a bit unusual. I found a couple of posts here for people going through something similar but not exactly the same, that's why I'm starting a new post. Here is the story: I filed I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence in January 2018. I received an I-797 Notice of Action which extends my conditional resident status for an additional 18 months. My conditional green card (permanent resident card) expired in March 2018. I lost my wallet with the expired conditional green card in it last month. So now, I have the I-797 Notice of Action documents that extend my conditional permanent residency status but I do not have the expired conditional green card itself (The physical, original card itself). Now, I'm eligible to submit my N-400, Application for Naturalization to get my citizenship Now, given the above context, here are my questions: What happens if the N-400 application is approved, the biometrics and interview are done, and it's the oath ceremony when I'm supposed to be getting my naturalization certificate, but by that time, I still don't have my 10-year green card and I don't have my old expired green card? I read somewhere that they wouldn't give me my naturalization certificate if I don't hand them my green card on that day! Should I file an I-90 application? Does it even apply for my case? I already have an I-751 going. Also, does it even work to file an I-90 to replace a lost green card that also happens to be expired? I'd really appreciate your input here. Thank you!
