  1. Good day all, All documents and fees were approved and completed on my IR5 on March 7th 2019. Notice from the NVC was that an interview would be scheduled at the Consulate and I would be notified by email or mail. Does anybody know what the approximate turnover times are for the interview? Can I expect an interview in April? Thank you!
  2. Hi everyone, My case was completed at the NVC 03/16/18 (over 70 days ago) and I am waiting for an interview date to be assigned at the Montreal Embassy. My visa category is EB-2. Is anyone in a similar situation (EB-2, Montreal) who can share their experience/wait time? This is taking much longer than anticipated. Thanks a lot!
  3. I made a group for those who are pending interview in Montreal Consulate for F2A visa category. My case has been Documentarily qualified/case completed April 4th, 2019.
  4. Hello! We just got the electronic notification that our peition has been approved! But now I'm confused about the next steps are! I know that we have to wait to get our paper copy of the NOA2, and in a few weeks to start calling the NVC for a case number, then once we get that we have to wait till they send our case in the U.S. Consulate in Montreal... but then after that I'm a little lost (for the record I've looked at the K-1 visa flowchart but I'm still confused). What paperwork do I need to fill out? What is packet 3? What is packet 4? Do I have to schedule my interview or will the Montreal consulate do that for me? How far in advance should I book my medical? Thank you in advance for your help!
  5. Hello, For the I-134 supporting documents, the statement from the bank only has the date opened and the current amount. It does not have the amount deposited in the last year (it was opened 2019). Should I ask for a new statement? Also, my fiance (petitioner) meets the income requirements. Other documents I have are Bank statement (1 from last month), letter of employment, 2019 W2, 2019 tax return. Is there anything else required by the Montreal consulate? Thank you.
  6. Hi I am Canadian citizen and my husband US citizen. My husband file for my immigration. My case is still at NVC. Last time NVC updated on 18 November 2019 that they have reviewed documents and you are in a queue for interview. More than two months now, no news any idea how much time nvc take to schedule an interview at Montreal?

PLEASE ANY HELP OR ADVICE IS APPRECIATED. Our wedding date is February 22-2020. I just feel this mess is going to delay the visa even further. thank you
  8. I completed my medical exam in Montreal and thought I would add another review. Being in Montreal has been a challenge as many people have a hard time speaking English. Perhaps I am the only person who finds the irony in having to travel to Quebec for a US immigrant visa. When staying in Downtown Montreal you are within walking distance everywhere. I arrived a half hour early and it was easy to find as I had google earthed prior. My 5 year old and I went up to the 22nd floor. As soon as we entered the office I was overwhelmed by the volume of people. I would prepare yourself if you don't like crowds. I checked in at reception and she asked for: 5 passport photos, vaccination records, passports, letter confirming consulate appointment. She gave me forms to fill out which included the intended US address. The questionnaire asks things like if you have been hospitalized, blood disorders, drug addiction, mental health history, etc. I filled everything out and my son had to go to the bathroom. I needed to go but the receptionist said I could not do my urine test as it had to be supervised by a nurse. I asked how long it would be and she said she had no idea. We sat down and my name got called pretty quick to do the chest x-ray. The lady was really nice especially considering my son didn't want to leave the toys. I got undressed from the waste up and put a gown on. There were a total of 3 people doing this test at the same time. There were change rooms side by side which me (female), another female and a male all got undressed. I have to admit I was surprised they would do the exam with mixed genders. The guy who was there looked like he could be fun and I could've cared less if he got a peek. But not everyone would be thrilled about that. They did my x-ray first which I appreciated as my son was on the verge of a meltdown. They gave him two candy canes for being good. I wished the female and male good luck as I left. We sat down again and it was around a half an hour before the doctor came out. My son had a tantrum and I was embarrassed. The waiting area had turned into a circus with at least a half dozen kids running wild. The area feels small when there are so many people. The office is extremely busy and it's easy to not hear your name. They should consider investing in an intercom. I was surprised by how many more men there were than women. The view of Montreal was great and there is a play area for young children. The doctor brought me into her office and she was very genuine. She was thorough and went through our medical history. My son and I completed our physical exams. I took everything off except my bra and underwear. The wait felt longer when we got to the vaccination part. It must have been 2 hours after we got there. By then the urge to pee was so bad it was hard to think of anything else. I got brought in by two women to do the physical exam/vaccinations. I explained how desperate I was to use the restroom. One of the girls got me a cup right away and the receptionist was correct someone must stand outside the door. After I was done I handed her my sample. I did an eye test both with and without glasses. They took weight/height measurements along with blood pressure. They went through my vaccine history and I hadn't had a TDAP shot in over 20 years. It was $40 and my son's flu shot was $25. They took blood from me. They took my word I had my flu shot and I brought blood test results to prove I had chicken pox. We went back to the waiting area where we were told to wait at least 15 minutes after our vaccines. At this point it had been over 3 hours and my son was really melting down. The receptionist saw my desperation and rang the bill for myself and my young child. The bill after taxes came to $747. She said the results should be ready Friday (today is Tues) which was sooner than what was said when I called (he said 4 days). They said if there is any type of issue they would call the number you put on the form. I felt everyone who worked there was very friendly. It is a much higher volume medical service lab than I expected. Everything is done in office so you don't have to go anywhere. After we were finished we walked over to Eaton Center and had supper.
  9. Hey guys, I had my interview on September 25th. I was given a 221g for my fiance's divorce documents as they were not certified. After finally receiving the documents, I sent them via courier to Montreal Embassy, in which they were received on November 7th. I got a "date update" on November 21st, (which was I think because they sent me an email that day) as well as November 27th (which is currently the last update). I know it says 6-8 weeks of waiting... but is there any chance I'm gonna get issued before then? It will be 4 weeks this Thursday. Can people please share their experiences of their 221g, and how long it took to get issued? I really think I'm starting to go crazy... All I want is to spend Christmas in the U.S. with my love.
  10. Hi! My case has been in AP for about 63 days after sending out my documents for 221g. Today at 5pm when I checked ceac it changed to “Ready” Does anyone know how long it takes to change to “Issued”? If you have been through this, can I hear your experience?
  11. I'm in a weird predicament, wondering if anyone else has ever used a Statutory Declaration in place of a Police Certificate when that certificate can NOT be produced? Situation: Myself (and fiancé) spent 7 months traveling together in Cambodia. We spent the majority of that time at one guesthouse in Sihanoukville without paying rent (owner is a friend) My understanding is that I need a police check from Cambodia because I was in the country for 6+ months. ----- However ---- To acquire a police certificate from Cambodia you have to appear in person at the Ministry of Justice in PP. To get the Police Cert. from them you have to provide a "Certificate of Residence" given to you by the Sangkat (community center). The Certificate of Residence can only be produced by giving the Sangkat a copy of your lease agreement. I did not ever hold a lease or pay rent in Cambodia so I can not get a Residence Certificate, Therefore, I also can not get a Police Certificate from the Ministry of Justice. I was a traveler, not a resident, despite the length of my stay. A lease can't be created retroactively, and I've read a lot of old forums on here where people described paying-off various officials to get it done - but the most recent one suggests that the Sangkat people no longer have the ability to "create" Residence Certificates when given tea-money, so that is also not an option. Long story short, I plan on drafting a Statutory Declaration and swearing an oath to the above, and that: Even if I fly to Cambodia (for $1500+) and negotiate with the MoJ (despite not being able to read/write/speak Khmer) that I can't make a Police Certificate appear because I'm unable to prove I ever held residence in Cambodia. Will the USCIS or DOS or the Consulate have any problem with this? I plan on attaching relevant documents supporting my claim, along with a sworn statement from the guesthouse owner stating that I didn't ever pay him for my stay. Thank you thank you thank you, the last thing I want is to find out at the last minute that they demand I fly to Cambodia to get this paperwork, even though I know that it's not possible for me to get it.
  12. Hello, My husband and I had our EB2 visa interview mid July in Montreal. My husband is the main petitioner and his visa was approved right away and got the passport back, but my case was put on an administrative processing since then. It's been extremely frustrating to say the least since we just don't know what's happening and how much longer we need to wait. At the end of the interview, the interviewer said that my case may take 3 weeks instead of 2 weeks to check the record but we both got green slips, and they never asked for any additional documents either. We both got our master's degrees in US and worked and lived in US prior to the interview. I have not been able to return to work and my home for over 3 months now, and I also have a toddler son waiting back home too. I'm wondering if anyone has had similar experience at Montreal and have any advice for us. I'm also considering asking for my passport back to return to my home in US and wait there. Has anyone tried asking for their passports back in similar situations? What does the process look like? Do they continue the administrative processing even after they return the passport back to us? Also, can I cross the border with the current passport event if they do return it to me? I currently have a valid TN visa. Any advice or help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

  14. Hi, I just had my K1 interview, where I found out I had the wrong type of police background check, so I was issued a refusal 221g letter that clearly states I need to send them the correct police certificate and my passport. The lady at the time told me what she was doing and phrased it as "this is what you need to do to overcome it' Obviously I'm going to do that, but also obviously I'm freaking out because I'm terrified of being rejected. Has anyone else had a similar experience? And does anyone know if it's a good sign that they're asking for my passport directly with the new police check? I can't find much on 221gs that aren't for administrative processing, 😣
  15. Hello, I had my interview in Montreal on August 1st. And they requested additional documents which have been sent within 24 hours. Case status then changed to AP on August 2nd. It is already over 60 days and no updates since then. Anyone else in the same boat?
  16. We filed our 129f for a K-1 Visa last June and were approved by the USCIS in September. The NVC assigned our petition a case number on 10-22, and on 10-24 my attorney sent in the DS-160 info and received a confirmation and barcode number. On 11/12, the NVC sent me (the petitioner) an email letter saying that they were forwarding it on to the Consulate in Montreal. My fiance (the beneficiary) did not receive any notification of this despite the wordage in the emailed letter actually being addressed to her. (Kind of odd.) The Montreal Consulate received it on 11/14, and on 11/15 our CEAC status changed from "In-transit" to "Ready". It also said.. "Your case is ready for you to schedule an interview at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal. If you have already scheduled an interview appointment, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the Consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at: http://nvc.state.gov/interview" I excitedly let my immigration attorney in the U.S. know this and suggested that we send in our packet 3 ASAP so as to trigger P4. She said that the above message was simply a generic one sent to everyone, and that we must wait for an official Packet 3 notification in the mail (or email) before sending in our Packet 3 info. She cited the many DOS website pages related to K-1 Visa's that specifically give that instruction. The Montreal Consulate's own website does not specifically say one way or another. In fact, they don't seem to address the issue it at all for K-1 Visa applicants, saying only that the majority of interview appointments will be scheduled by the NVC. They never specifically mention what K-1 applicants are supposed to do. So 11 days have now gone by since we got the "Ready" status and the quoted message above stating "Your case is ready for you to schedule an interview.." . No P3 request has arrived either by email or mailed letter. Our attorney continues to say we must wait for that before sending our P3 response. Our "Ready" status is still dated Nov 15th. There has never been any change to that. Some mention a "2nd Ready".. that hasn't happened so far. We seem to be dead in the water. Nothing is happening. So.. any comments or suggestions? Should I overrule my immigration attorney and ask her to send in my P3 response now? She adamantly maintains that it would be the wrong course of action, though she admits in the same breath that the DOS websites that she relies on for instruction are frequently not kept updated to how things are actually done and are happening now. Thanks for any response.
  17. I became DQ on November 15th, just wondering how long other Canadians has to wait til receiving interview letter and how long ahead of your interview date did you do your medical?
  18. People who are waiting for their interview at Montreal Embassy please connect here. Please comment your Priority Date (PD) & Case Complete (CC) date. My details are below: PD: April-30-2018 CC: January-14-2019
  19. Hello! My interview is scheduled for this Thursday at Montreal. On the US government website it states that "- A signed Affidavit of Support from your petitioner and any additional financial sponsors who submitted a Form I-864 on behalf of your visa application. Applicants may bring photocopies and scanned versions of signed Forms I-864 and associated documents. (Please note that the form must still be signed; typed names and electronic signatures will not be accepted.)" However, the email I received from the NVC stated "-You submitted forms and supporting documents to the NVC in electronic form. You must present the original forms and documents for review by the consular officer during your interview." The problem is I have no idea where the originals are unfortunately and now only have the scanned copies with the signatures, the ones i submitted online. I am super nervous! Do you think this is enough? The gov website vs the email I received from the NVC is a bit contradictory and confusing so I'm freaking out. If anyone can help or has any knowledge on the matter, please let me know!
  20. So I know my case (K-1 visa) is already at the Montreal consulate since I got a letter from them but asking for proof of my Canadian Citizenship. First I'm just wondering what kind of proof can I send? (Passport? Canadian Citizenship card? which I'm not even sure if it's allowed since they discontinued the little cards a while back) Second am I supposed to email it to them? or snail mail? or fax? I've emailed them asking all this but I don't think I'm gonna get a fast enough answer to calm my nerves PLUS I'm not sure if I even sent it to the right email? (montreal-iv-dv@state.gov) Please correct me if I got it wrong. Lastly, I'm just wondering if this delays things until I provide them with the proof or will I still be receiving whatever I need to receive in the mail. Please Help ! >.<
  21. Hello! Posting again looking for CR1/IR1 applicants who got DQs April and May or first week of June and waiting or just received their Montreal embassy interview letter. Thank you.
  22. Has anyone in Canada already had an interview, denied and had to file a 601 waiver? My fiance's waiver was approved July 1st. We've contacted Montreal and my senator did also but keep getting told it's in administrative processing and they will let us know what needs updated and when a 2nd interview can be scheduled and to wait for instructions (first interview was 2 years ago so must have another one). It's been almost 4 months since his waiver was approved and I feel like he's never going to get a 2nd interview or get to come home I'm in a Facebook group for waivers and it seems like other countries receive instructions and get a 2nd interview set up right away. Others approved after us from other countries are already home! Just so frustrated!!
  23. Hi All-- My fiance is a naturalized Canadian citizen but originally born in Pakistan and I ( the petitioner) am a born US citizen. My fiance and I had our K1 interview after 11 months of waiting on March 21, 2018. In the embassy we provided all the documents and patiently waited for the interview which we thought was going to be easy since we have been together 3.5 years and should be able to answer any interview questions. Things did not go as expected. Fiancé got asked tons of questions about himself, about us, and about the documents we brought in a very business like way. She also asked him where he worked and what he did when he was in Pakistan ( which was 11 years ago) and he said he did his masters in Physics. Instead of approving us, she gave the 221g form asking for my fiance's resume and masters transcripts. My fiancé didn't ask any questions. He was polite and said ok no problem, he will mail the documents right away. The officer asked him if he needed the passport anytime soon, and my fiance said no so the officer kept it. Even though my fiance mailed the documents March 22nd, masters transcripts and resume are not required. Does anyone have any insight as to why this happened or if this is something we should worry about? The sheet of paper we got says 6-8 weeks. Is this an accurate estimate? Any and all advice here is helpful. Thanks, A
  24. Hello everyone! My fiance and I currently doing a K-1. She is from Van, BC and I am from Idaho. We got an email from the NVC saying our case was being forwarded to the Embassy in Montreal. She has been here visiting for a minute. We called after getting that email and asked what we should do next. We told them what our email said. We were then told by the embassy person to file a DS-160 which we did while on the phone and then she also told us to schedule an interview basically right after filling it out. This was September 18thish? We called a few days later to make a medical exam in Surrey, BC. So last night(a month later) we were at Fedex printing a bunch of stuff out to get ready for the interview which is on November 20th. Going through some pictures her mom had sent of the mail, we noticed we missed the 2 page packet 3. So here is the issue: We already have an interview which is what the embassy told us to do. But packet 3 or whatever the two page thing they sent us says not to set it up until you get packet 4 after submitting packet 3? We submitted packet 3 right away sending her passport photo copy, the checklist, and the DS-160 confirmation last night. I've been up all night freaking out because I feel like this seems obviously like a big mistake on my part. I called the embassy this morning explaining what happened, but they just said the interview is good to go but also they didn't really know anything other than that. SORRY FOR THE NOVEL CEAC says NO Status under the AA case number check but Immigrant status when I put the MTL number in shows ready so Idk. If anyone could help or give some insight that would be greatly appreciated. My anxiety is through the roof over this.
  25. Hello. I just received my interview date for Montreal (CR1). What wait time have you been experiencing to receive your documents and be able to travel to US after the interview is complete? Thank you!
