It took me one hour from appointment time to leaving the embassy.
Interview lasted for approximately 15 minutes, the rest was document submission (original copies) to embassy personnel for verification (approx. 10 mins) and waiting time.
Efficient and fast process.

*EXPERIENCE DURING COVID TIMES

I was informed about my interview (set by the embassy itself) via email a week before and had not done my medical report yet. It's a really complicated times as the clinic had canceled my previous appointment due to MCO in KL and Selangor area. I immediately contacted the clinic again to have my appointment done a day before my interview and try to get permission to go to KL (am from Ipoh) and thank god, it was a breeze. But I had to come on a later date after to collect my report and receive my vaccinations. Hence, my medical report is not done yet during my interview but was advised to keep going still.

I had my interview at 9AM and arrived around 8.40 as I stayed at DoubleTree Hilton a day before my interview. When I arrived, there are no lines outside and I was instructed swiftly into the building (leaving my phone and IC card at the post). I was also given a number and I was the third person to get interviewed. The waiting hall is almost empty, just me and two others waiting to be interviewed. I then were called to submit all documents at the first counter and also gave them a letter by the clinic informing that my medical is pending.

As my name is called, the interview lasted just about 10 minutes and the officer is quite nice. He then gave me a form 221g refusal because of my pending medical and was instructed to submit medical + passport via Aramex courier. My case status were marked as refused while I waited to submit my pending docs. I did received the visa a week after I submitted my documents but realized they spelt my name wrongly haha. So its more waiting time and honestly just annoying as I need to have them reissued. But they were very efficient with my emails regarding the mistakes and were helpful.

Overall I have a good impression of KL US embassy ever since my tourist visa interview and no problem other than the COVID delays and just the whole visa reissuance haha.

Was there for 1 hour. People were very nice.
Interview lasted about 5 minutes, it was relaxed and conversational
Tell me about your fiancé...
Where in the United States does she live?
What do you love about her?
Have you met her parents?
What is her address?
Has she visited you?
How many time has she visited?
He then asked to see photos...
Then said congratulations and good luck to you and your fiancé

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Hi guys,
I had my interview on 11/24/2020 at US Embassy Malaysia

Interview Completed but no visa issued yet.
IR1 Visa

The officer asked me few questions that might help you:

1) How did you guys meet? (Online dating website)
2) what is the name of the website?
2) where & when exactly you both met for the first time?
3) when both of you decide to get married?
4) when you get married?
5) what your husband do in the US?
6) you used to lived in the UK, what you doing there?
7) have you/ your husband married before?
8. how many kids and where they’re now?
9) where is your in laws?
10) when was the last time you guys see each other?
11) when do you plan to go to the US?
12) do you have kids?
13) where your husband born?
14) how do you communicate with your husband? How frequent?

He just asked me police certificates, marriage certificate and birth certificate. The officer didn’t ask any other supporting documents. I overdone it by bringing my wedding album together with me. But he didn’t asked for it.

Interview went well except for 1 doc original birth certificate I didn’t upload it on the NVC Website. But i brought it with me during an interview. So the officer issued me form 221g and asked me to courier my passport and original birth certificate to them after i upload it on nvc.

So i done it on the same day. And on 11/30/2020 received an email saying it was completed and now waiting for my passport to courier back.

Overall was a pleasant experience. From the security check till finished it took me around 1 hour and 45 minutes. Waiting for the interview and document check quite longer than expected.
Overall was great.

Appointment was set at 10am.
No line outside the embassy as routine consular services are unavailable due to COVID-19.

IC/Driving license surrendered in the registration guard house to collect electronic devices after interview.
Security check done twice before being led to the room.

There was only one counter pre-checking documents, arranged it according to the email sent by embassy to ease the process.

Interview was done in another counter, oath taken before interview started. Some questions that I remembered:
1) How did you meet?
2) How many times did your fiance visit you?
3) How many times did you visit your fiance?
4) Where does he live?
5) What does he works as?
6) What are your wedding plans?
7) When will you be entering the states?

Interview took less than 10 mins.
