Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

sorry it took a week to do this, I've started this so many time just never finish it or forgot to post it.
ok so my husband reached the Embassy around 5:50 he was determined to be there way before time. we were on the phone the whole time while he was outside and around 7 they started letting people in. At that time he handed the phone over to my brother in law and we stayed on the phone either talking or messaging until my hubby came back out to give me the best Christmas present ever!!! so my hubby told me that "IN THE NAME OF JESUS WE ARE APPROVED!!!!" i just broke down crying because NVC had lost his police report from DR and for us to get another one it would be another visa to go there and request one but thank God i made copies of everything!!!
my hubby went to the 1st window and the lady only asked him for his Medical and asked him a couple of questions like his name and my name and who i was to him and went to get his file then told him to go sit down and wait. he waited almost 3 hours watching people getting sent home because they were missing papers or they needed to come back with their spouses for another interview. my husband told me that there were 3 consulates given interviews that day a woman and two men an black american who speak kreyol but kreyol li lou!! no one could understand him and he was very impatient with the interviewee. so the people that were waiting were very scared of him and my husband said he asked God to get one of the other ones but...HE called his name lol so when my husband went up to him the man started speaking his kreyol and my husband asked him if he could do the interview with him in english if that would be better for him. My husband told me that's when the man looked up to him and they finally made eye contact and he said that would be good and they continued talking he asked my husband questions back to back and as he was asking before he finished my husband answered it. he asked. MY BIRTH DATE, OUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY,HOW LONG WE'VE BEEN MARRIED, WHERE DO I LIVE, WHERE DO I WORK, WHAT KIND OF JOB I DO. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME WE SAW EACH OTHER, WHAT IS OUR DAUGHTERS NAME AND AGE. After that the Interviewer looked at our pictures i made an album since we were kids back in Haiti thanks to my grandma for keeping everything!! I had pics of us every time we'd get together and our wedding day announcement party with friends and family and our wedding day and art that our daughter made of our family at school. i put everything that showed that my family is really a family even apart we're close. Also my hubby told me that the man who interviewed him wasn't a hard he was firm and if you're not sure of yourself you wouldn't make it because he would grill you especially if you can not understand a word he was saying. My husband paid the $10 and left with this packet they gave him back of papers and pics i sent in.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My husband arrived at the US Embassy at 6.30am and the line was full of people he noticed there was a man outside stating that there was some kind of form that needed to be completed that would cost $120.00 US which I told him to ignore. Once he got in to the building he realized it was a scam he was called up to a window and a very nice lady asked him for his paper work. Per my husband they only cared about two things which was the photos and western union papers although he brought. Lots of other proof. Finally they told him to have a seat after about 45min a nice young man asked him 1. Who is sending for you?
2. When did you meet? 3. What is her mother/fathers name? 4.do you guys have any kids? 5.When was the last time you saw her. 6. And how many times you saw her ? my husband told him he couldn’t remember cause it was at least more then 5 times within one year then the co started laughing and told him congrats your approved.
I want to thank Visa Journey and all the other applicants who have gone before us and shared their experiences. I swear, without this site we probably would have been so lost, even with a lawyer I received more help from you all. This site has saved us so much money and time. Thank you
I wish the rest of you who are still in the process, to keep the faith with god everything is possible. And the best of luck with everything. Don't give up and always remember that many have gone through this and have been successful!

American Embassy in Haiti CR1 interview process.

We arrived at about 6:50 am to a line of about 50 people outside the embassy it took about 5 minutes to enter.
Two security check points.
Once inside a young security officer/usher sat us down in a strange order that ended up being our lines and sometimes the first people became last. It was not a problem because they have AC.
Tip one bring some form of entertainment... Tip two bring snacks if you do not eat breakfast.

Now the meat of it. After waiting in line for about a half hour we went to a window a nice lady asked for our paper she went and got my husbands file asked him if he was the person in the picture.
She only asked for our pictures and Western union receipts. She said if the interviewer needs more pictures we can give them. I was able to get a print out from Western Union of our past years transactions but I had the actual receipts too. She took both I had two photo albums one from shutter fly a nice book of our life in pictures with me him friends and family from the start of our relationship up until my last visit. As well as a nice hand made photo album of our wedding pictures ( I got the idea here on VJ it took time to make but I love it and everyone who sees it can see the love we truly have for each other).

We had soo many receipts and with the books the lady could not find a way to keep out folder closed. The most ironic part of it was she did not ask for the tons of other proof I had which was a binder full. Phone card the actual cards phone records FB messages a letter from my mom extra pay stubs hotel receipts bank records.

I do not regret compiling any of this info better over prepared I would have hated to fly to Haiti and not have something they asked for that I had the ability to have...

Back to the interview so we waited and waited and waited they called everyone but us. So I listened and listened and listened to all of the interviews within ear range. There was a male interviewer an American with a very strange way of speaking Creole many people said they could not understand him. He was the HARDEST!!

Questions he asked were. So your spouse does not speak creole so how did you communicate?
He asked the most personal questions. Many couples got strokes interviews (separate questions). The people who had to come back another day it seemed that it was mostly paper work or more evidence was needed.

The we continued to wait and then everyone was done someone asked us if we had our interview yet. We said no. this sweet round faced lady found our file and swore us in in Creole, she began the questions but I don't speak creole but I understand some and because I kept answering in English she realized I don't speak Creole so she switched to English.

Questions were only posed to my husband 1 does your wife work? 2 what does she do?
3 Where does she work? 4 What company does she work for? Does she live in a house or an apartment? Where? What city? What state?

He answered a few wrong and one he did not know the exact company I work for. And for some reason he said Queens 2 times he said it was English that was confusing him a bit but overall he did well.

She turned and clicked away at the keyboard for a few seconds and announced congratulations your visa has been approved!!!!!!!!! The whole interview took less than 5 minutes!!!

In all truth I attribute or success to God because we have a large age gap it was never mentioned my family has only spoken to him on the phone never asked about that.

We had a Great lawyer so our paper work was on Point!!! And I had tons of evidence if we were not last or got someone else who was rough...who knows what it would have been like.

I prayed to get the right interviewer for months.

His visa is taking 18 days to process. I made the mistake of buying a ticket for him to fly back with me I lost about $150.00 so be sure you don't make my mistake buy once the visa is in hand.

To all the true love couples out there I pray you will be together soon!!

Review Topic: K1 Visa

We arrived at about 6:45am. We went through 2 security check points and had a seat in the waiting area. The Embassy was clean, nice and air conditioned.

1. My fiance was called to the first window. Nice girl...she asked for any additional documentation that needed to be submitted (DS-157 and another original divorce decree for me.) They were both submitted.

The clerk assembled the papers and typed some stuff in the computer. She then verified my email address and his cell phone number and adresss. She strangely said " make sure your phone is always on and charged. We giggled and explained we talk everyday so there is no way that phone would ever be off. She smiled and said ok just be sure....(We should have known at that very moment it was a subliminal message that admin review was already documented in the sytem.)

2. My fince was called again to go get his fingerprints taken and then we waited to be called for the interview. The first couple called went up to the window but they told the U.S. Citizen to take a seat, they were not approved. Ten other couples were also not approved or on Admin review as well. I told my fiance each case is different and do not let the results of others way on him or make him nervous. I held his hand and whispered I am here with you all the way....

3. He gets called to the window...I can hear everything where I am seated. He swore in and the first question was open ended * Tell me about your Fiance? How did you meet? and last When did your fiance get divorced? He answered all the questions and there was silence for like 10 min....then the CO stated in french " your visa could not be approved today because additional review of the paperwork needs to be completed..My fiance signaled me to come to the window.

I get to the window and greeted the CO (he never even looked at me) I began by asking is there any additional paperwork they need? The CO responded no, then I asked what's happening he said the review of the documents were not fully completed. I said so now what happens? He handes my fince a paper with the number to call if you have questions.

I asked if there was anything else I could do because I am here... CO said no and repeated if you have additional questions call the number on the paper. Still he never looked at me....That made me feel like crap. I tried to get his attention but he was glued to the computer screen typing away. So much for being present at the interview....

Please note the results of the interview was not good but the overall experience despite the rude CO was ok. I rated it a 3 for Haiti....

Good luck to all of you who are next and planning to be present.

Review Topic: General Review

In the Embassy when he entered they asked if he was there for a tourist visa, Green card visa, or k-1. Afterwards they sent him to another area where had to sit and wait. There were several cases there at the consul.

When he was called up to give his papers they asked him for his interview letter, medical paper, and all receipts from transfers.

From there they sent him to get his finger prints when he was done he had to sit and wait to be called. When he was called up he brought all his paper work/proof with him.

The questions they asked him were not difficult but if you don't answer confidently they will ask you more questions. If you are stressed or nervous they will think you are not being truthful. Also my fiance noticed that the consular began the interview in English but finished speaking creole because he told them that I (his fiance) speak creole and my parents were born in Haiti.

The Interview:

Please raise you hand to swear to tell the truth

What is your name?
Who is sending for you in Haiti?
What is your fiance's name?
When was the last time your where together?
How many times did you meet?
When you got engaged were you parent's present?
Did her parents meet your parents?
Did you and your fiance talk about how you will get married?
Will you families be involved with the wedding?

Thank you for the interview. They gave him instructions to go pay $10 at Haiti messenger Safe trip and not to purchase a plan ticket until they return his passport.javascript:emoticon('')javascript:emoticon('')
