Review Topic: K1 Visa

Despite 7:20 appointment time, we were the last of the immigrant visa interviews, at about 10:00. We were missing two documents. One was our fault for overlooking it until the day before. The other, my tax record, was due to very unclear instructions by the embassy. We were told the visa would’ve approved upon receipt of those documents, though, and sure enough it was. The interviewer was very friendly and the interview was simple.

Review Topic: Waiver/Admin Review

For my husband's interview, he went to Guatemala by himself (we had filed the I-601A waiver from the US, while he was still in the US, and he only left the US once it was time for his interview at the embassy in Guatemala). He arrived 2 hours before the interview, but there were already a lot of people in line. Make sure you have a valid Guatemalan birth certificate that's less than 6 months old. Everything went very smoothly, the interview was even in Spanish, and the interviewer asked him the standard basic questions of who's sponsoring you, when did you enter the US, etc. The only documents she asked him for during the interview were my pay stubs (since I am his wife and his financial sponsor, too). At the end of the interview, she said, "Congratulations, welcome to the US!" The interview was on a Thursday and he received his passport at Cargo Express on Monday (it probably would have been available on Saturday, but due to our religion, we cannot do business-type things on that day, and Cargo Express is closed on Sundays).
