I will just give pointers.

To receive the appointment letter, it is better to request both Package 3 and 4 via email - BridgetownIV@state.gov as the postal services are not the most reliable. You can submit the request for Package 4 with a scanned copy of your signature and the date

When assembling your documentation, pay close attention to Package 3 and the medicial information in Package 4. However, the actual documentation is listed on this website (http://barbados.usembassy.gov/iv-k_1_visas.html). It is not explict in the Package 3 or 4. Note that I was approved but I had no idea that I had to submit two additional documents, including one that I had to request from another country. This cause a delay in issuing of my visa.

When going to the Embassy, there are four checkpoints. Although, you are applying for a K-1 visa. It is considered under the Green Card category. So mention this at the checkpoints to avoid confusion.

We arrived at our interview at 6:00 am our appointment was at 7:30 am. At 7:00 am we were allowed to enter the premises of the Embassy and await security checkpoint processing. After the security processing which was very straightforward and easy we proceeded to the waiting area. We were very nervous which is normal. At 8:00 am a man came and announced that everyone should bring their appointment letter to window one my fiancée was first in line. He asked everyone to leave their papers and take a seat. My fiancée was the first one to be called to the window he was then instructed to pay $240.00 visa fee which he did he took the receipt back to the window and was processed they asked verification questions such as who filed for him and what's my address and they scanned his finger prints. The officer also took my job letter tax returns and my fiancée civil documents. Then he was asked to take a seat shortly after the officer called us back I must say he was very friendly and polite to us from the onset. He notified us that the ds-160 form was not the form we were suppose to fill out that it was the DS-260 the original letter had the incorrect form listed so we has to fill it out by hand. After that was completed we were called into interview room 7. We were both sworn in under oath and the IO had a casual conversation with both of us he asked how we met he made a lot of jokes about our situation he asked me where I worked and a little about ourselves. Then he asked my fiancée to sign the DS 260 and advised us we were approved. It was very simple lasted 3-4 minutes. Once God is with you and your relationship is genuine there is nothing you need to worry about just be yourself.

Overall the experience with the consulate was better than expected.
Consulate moved quick with sending out packet 3,once they received the packet for NVC. Instructions of Packet 3 are confusing, so call the consulate for further clarification. You can speak with someone in either the immigrant or non-immigrant section of the Consulate( you have to call at different times of the day, depending if you are calling regarding a non-immigrant or immigrant visa). You may get a different answer over the phone from different employees, but if you are nice and appreciative for their help and time, I found you get more information and suggestions as to what you and your fiance(e) should do. Be persistent when calling, sometimes you will get a voicemail (don\\\'t bother leaving your name and phone number, they will never call you back) but if you continue to call a few times during the instructed window of time, you WILL get through.

Once they received packet three, packet four was sent out within a week, which includes the interview date, which was about 3 1/2 weeks later. You are told to arrive in Barbados at least three working days before the scheduled interview for the medical, but that is a bit overkill. We went to the medical at 6:30am the same day as our interview and we still make it to the 9am interview by 9:50am (which we were told was fine, as long as we arrived by 10am).

The interview lasted 15 minutes, the whole process at the consulate is actually faster than the medical process. We did not find out right away if we got the visa, because we had to wait for the results of the medical and return the 2nd day, which we did and within 20 minutes of arriving the 2nd day, we were told we got the visa and instructed to leave the passport with DHL.

The interview asked basic questions, how we met, one question about my job and who some of his family members were in the pictures that I was pictured with. she went through every single paper in the petition and STUDIED the photos, while not saying a word. She was nice enough but ALL BUSINESS.

So, overall it was not a bad experience at all. If you are prepared, it should be fine and a decent experience.
