Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We're approved. I stressed a lot before, especially since we were missing my husband's birth certificate. Of course we found it in our mail box when we returned from the interview. He couldn't find his passport for an hour either last night.
We made our way to Charlotte this morning. The directions from google maps were accurated and we had no problem finding the place.
Coming from Tyron St you turn onto Tyvola Center Dr. The first sign to the right is the US Defense Department, then the next entrance to the right is the
USCIS. Lots of parking. Expect for us it was pretty much full because there was a naturalization ceremony at the same time.
We went through the door were security is. No cell phones allowed of course.
A lady in front of us had an appointment letter for biometrics, I felt bad for her as this is not the right location in Charlotte. There is a biometrics address and a main address, you need to check your appointment letter carefu... read complete review

We actually went to the Durham office, but the mods have not added Durham to the web site yet. So, for the time being, I have put this under Charlotte.

We arrived about 25 minutes early. The instructions on the USCIS web site on how to get to the new Durham office were pretty good, but the streets are a bit odd once you turn off Miami Blvd. The security there seemed moderate, and they wouldn't let us through until 15 minutes before our appointment time. I, the USC, had to wait in a separate waiting area and J, my wife, had to go into the biometrics waiting area. She filled out a form and took a seat. A little while later, she got called to do her fingerprints. Meanwhile, I sat in the other waiting room waiting and waiting and waiting...expecting her to come out any moment since most VJers said it takes about 5 minutes. Well, it took an hour...apparently J's fingerprints are not easily recordable or whatever. One bad thing I noticed is that while they have bathro... read complete review

Didn't have to wait too long; brought in a BOX of stuff - photos of us, bills, bank statements, etc etc - big box. The woman who interviewed us was very pleasant. Asked to see a few of the papers (bank statements, mortgage info w/ both our name on it, etc) and that was it. It was over very quickly - we were surprised. We asked her why she didn't need to see more (she was very chatty) and she said it was because she could tell when we got there that we were married cause we wanted to be, and were happy. Said there's a big difference between couples who are trying to use the system, and those who just want to be together. On our way our, she saw our wedding photos and asked to see them - only cause she thought they looked nice! She had already done the paperwork and said we could go. Overall, it was quick and painless - just be prepared and bring all your stuff. She saw we were prepared, which definitely helped.

We took to the interview

- bank statements
- job certificates from me and my wife
- shared life/car/medical insurance
- her us birth certificate certified copy
- our marriage certificate certified copy
- my birth certificate (+ translation)
- copies of AOS
- pictures (260)
- we have same credit card but we did not have a statement of any of them

We got there at 8.15 (interview at 8.30) we entered the building, 3 or 4 guards there (like in the airport) told us to pass all our stuff by a scanner..then we went to a waiting room with a tv showing CNN.

That door has 2 doors, one of them was the one we used for entering (of course hehe) the other was one that was being used by the immigration officers to call by applicant name. so a lady called me and my heart stopped and my hands were freezing

we went to her office, she made us swear ("raise your right hand and tell me that ... read complete review
