My appt was at 10.30, so I arrived at 10.15 ( there is a cafe next door where I waited, as I was too early).

Downstairs there are guards and you have to turn off your phone and they mark your name off.

Once inside, the lady at counter will take your original docs- passport, sealed medical envelope, birth cert and police check. Also updated intent letter. She will put them in a folder for you to take upstairs.

She also gave me a copy of the IMBRA pamphlet to read.

Then there is another secuirty and xray to go through just like the airport.

Once clear, you go up the lifts to level 5,and go to the right side (visas). At the first counter, you give your folder of docs, and do your fingerprints. You are given a ticket number, so then wait for the next window.

Once called- this is the actual consular. They look at your docs and I presume the DS160.

Very efficient. I had an 8am appointment and was expecting to spend two to three hours there but was done in 50mins. All the staff were friendly. Interview itself lasted for maybe 10-15mins. I haven't done my medical yet, so have been refused until medical and passport are sent back to them. They asked for my passport, birth certificate, police checks and marriage/divorce papers (didn't have those). They did not ask for I-134 or any supporting evidence, but I had it with me, just in case.

Giving it a 4/5 rating purely because the environment was very much like an airport, which is not so pleasant.

I had my interview at the Sydney Consulate on 28 April 2023.

I was asked the following questions:

How did you meet?
Where did you meet?
Where did you physically meet?
What is the total amount of time you have physically seen each other?
Where will you live in the USA?
Why did you stay in the USA for 4 months on ESTA?
What does your fiancé do for work?
What do you do for work?

Be prepared to sit on the wooden bench in the consulate for roughly two hours. The benches are very hard and there is nothing to lean your back against.
