Our appointment was on October 29, 2013. Got to the embassy at 6:45 a.m. and our appointment was at 7:30 a.m. Went through secuirity checks and then they called us to a window. There was a Yemeni guy there who gathered all our papers. He asked me why I've been in Yemen for so long and if I have anything tying me back to America like bills. I told him no, but I had copies of all 3 of my passports and their stamps and my MI ID.He took them and told us to sit down till the American councilor calls us. She was a white woman and looks fairly young with blunt bangs. She was very nice and most people that went before us got approved fairly easily without any tough questions being asked. She called our name and I could tell her mind was already made. There was small talk and she mostly spoke to me although my husband is the one applying for a visa. She asked me how long have we've been married and how long I've been in Yemen. She also asked how do we know our sponsor. I told her he's my brothe... read complete review

The interview appointment wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The first window took all our papers asked for a number so they can reach us then we sat down. We waited for quite a while until the American counselor called us up and asked how long have we been married, what does he do for work in Yemen, what will he be working their. He was pretty nice we laughed a few times. He then said because of low staffing and they were closed for 3 months they don't have enough staff to process petitions quickly and put us in AP. We were in AP for 3 weeks until they called and told my husband to go in on the 22nd at 10 am and take his ID with him. Alhamulilah he got the visa that day.

Hi
I am an American Citizen currently in Yemen I am sending you this message to ask you what can I do about my husband and two children age 3 and 4 visas. They had their visa interview on May 19, 2013 everything went good and we weren't asked for any further documents or anything else from the Consular Officer he told us everything was fine and that we had to go through Administrative Processing and that was normal and we would receive a call from the embassy to bring in their passports within 90 days. But no one called yet and it's been 5 months now. What can be done to finish this process?

I have not been waiting for many months like most others in Yemen but my experience so far was not pleasant, the communication is really bad, I've heard many stories of people who waited for a year to get an appointment and when they contacted the consulate they received an automated response asking them to wait until further notified - there is no additional explanations or rough timeline given.
A note to the website adminstrators- the U.S consulate in Yemen is not listed in the drop down menu. Can you add it please (I noticed you have added countries like Sudan and Iran where there have been no U.S consulates for decades but left out Yemen which there definitley is one). Thanks a lot for your efforts in creating and updating this useful site.
