Our visa interview was scheduled for July 5 at 10:15 a.m. We arrived outside the embassy around 9:30 so's we'd have plenty of time to get through security, etc. That really wasn't necessary, however. We waited outside (in the July heat!) until about 10:20 when the security guards finally let us inside. The security process was brief...maybe 5 minutes. They checked our passports, looked inside our bags and gave us a once-over with a metal detector wand. They took Ozzy's medical exam envelope and kept his passport. They gave us a number and we were let into a large room with glass windows at one end, rows of chairs in the middle facing the windows, and a UPS desk in the back. There were lights above each window that indicated what number was being served. We just sat and waited for maybe 1/2 hour or so, listening to other people's interviews (you could hear every word!) until our number was displayed. Ozzy had chosen to have his interview in Turkish (and agonized over whether he had made... read complete review

If you go with your spouse/fiance, be sure to flash your US Passport at the gates and they'll let you wait inside instead of standing out by the curb.
We had a nice, older lady who was Turkish. She allowed me to stand at the window with my husband when she questioned him. There were some young American girls interviewing people, they were so harsh... a lot of people walked away from them crying! I'm glad we didn't get one of those girls!
The interview took about 5 minutes and the visa arrived 2 days later to Istanbul.

Passport was checked at gate and then we got ın ımmigrant line, they took 2 of our passort photos and health check paperwork, then gave us a number and we went through securıty, no bıg deal. Once ınside, you sit and wait for your number to appear above one of the windows. We waıted about 30 mın, when called, we went to wındow and İ was told to have a seat whıle they talked to my wife. She was asked about 10 questıons(easy to hear, because everyone can hear everybody elses busıness over their intercoms). Our interview was on July 20, 2006. Our interview time was 8:30am. Our lawyer told us to get there 3 hours early because it could take hours to get through security to get into the embassy. We got there at 6am. What a waste of time because there was no line and the security guard told us to come back at 8:15am! So we went and had breakfast!

The guards didn't start letting us in until 8:45am. They were very nice. Before we went through security, outside the doors a man was checking everyone's letters. Then he asked us for Resul's medical report and his 2 passport pictures, then he put it in a file, gave us a number/ticket and let us in the doors. It took us 2 mins. to get through security. We had a bottle of water and they had us drink it in front of them to make sure it was water and nothing harmful. Then they let us into the room. It reminded me of a big bank! There were 4 or 5 big windows on the left side of the room with a counter under the windows. The b... read complete review
