The interview experience was overall positive. Phone and personal belongings don't go in. Lady was nice but got to the point, she wanted to know a lot of stuff in detail. Some of the questions asked were:
- where did you meet your fiancé? (detailed)
- where does he live?
- when and where is your wedding?
- what does he do for living? (details such as what are the tasks of that position, what city? what stores are in the surrodings of the building?)
- what were you doing in the US on prior trips? (detailed)

She said i was all set and I’d get my passport in the mail in 1-2 weeks.

PS: don’t buy the 60€ chronopost envelope. I went to the La Poste office near the Embassy. Lady at the Embassy gave me back the foam and said there was no need for that specific type.

Also if you are with your fiancé make sure you don’t bring any kind of luggage. He had to stay outside with it and ... read complete review

everything em smooth , schedule was at 10 AM , got there 9:45 , security guards all very friendly, they perform the same security like Airports. they kept my phone , watch , no food or drinks are allowed inside the embassy.
got inside, went to the line so they can review all the paper work, then I was told to sit in the wainting room , the the consular officer calls your name , ( its like going to the RMV or Social Security office lol) made the interview, like where I meet my wife , bla bla bla , no major question , very easy , the lady was cool .

My fiance had his interview yesterday and it was a very stressful day. He had to complete an online form DS-160 before setting up his interview. On that form it asks for the location of interview. He was supposed to put Paris even though he is Portuguese and his embassy is in Lisbon (But they do not complete these visas). So my fiance put Lisbon instead. He completed that form 2 months prior to the interview and we did not get anything back so we thought we were ready for the interview. The day before the interview, while my fiance was flying to Paris from Lisbon, we received an email stating that he needs to fix the on line form by 2:00 pm local Paris time or his interview will be cancelled and rescheduled for next month. I am in the U.S. reading this and not able to contact my fiance because he is in the air with no phone service. So I emailed the embassy back saying that he will need to fix it after the 2:00 deadline because he is flying. As soon as my fiance contacted me, I informe... read complete review

Reading online we weren't sure if I (the American petitioner) was allowed to go in with my fiance. We arrived about 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment time. There was an individual confirming appointments prior to entering and going through security, they confirmed that I was able to go inside.
Once through security we went inside and was directed right to a window, a woman confirmed they had our file, and all the supporting documentation. we waited in line for an open window with an interviewer (probably 15 to 20 minutes).
The interviewer was direct, but nice. He asked my fiance a few questions pertaining to my family history. He asked if I was the petitioner (his fiance) and answered Yes, the interviewer commented then that this should be pretty easy. In line we didn't see any other person with their fiance, and you could hear the interviewers asking more questions than was asked of my fiance.

I had my interview at the Paris embassy at 11.30 on a Wednesday and I got there about 15 minutes earlier. Here is a description of how it went in four steps. All the described interactions were held in English except for the conversation with the nice lady (step 3).

1-Before entering the building the security staff outside asked me to turn off my phone and tell them the time of my appointment. After that they asked to see my passport, the police certificates, and the medical examination. They looked at it briefly and handed it all back to me.

2- The first room I walked into was a security check room, much like those at the airports, but smaller. They looked inside my backpack and scanned it. They kept a few things such as my phone and headphones, a pen, a small notebook, lip balm, gum and some tissues. They only left me with my documents folder, wallet and glasses. Then they gave me a batch with a number to collect it all on my way out.
