Review Topic: K1 Visa

Kiran just called with the good news. She was approved for K1 visa this morning. and was told that she will get the passport back within 2 weeks (NO AP)..
Interview: Lady counselor asked just one question: how did you meet? and congratulated Kiran on the visa. WOW

Kiran made an observation that the couselor was attaching the passport with our file as she asked the question.. Which makes me wonder if the decision was already made.........

No other proof of relationship was asked for. Didnt ask for photos either. She was out of the embassy by 10:30AM.

I think we got lucky here. Dont expect all the interviews to go like this.. Be prepared and have sufficient proof to go along.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My husband's interview was on July 16, 2009 at 8:00AM..I attended the interview with him and as expected we are on AP.

Arrived at DSS around 6:15am..took the shuttle to the diplomatic enclave around 7:05 and got to the US embassy at 7:40.

My husband was asked to get his passport pics scanned before finger printing. Our interview was at window 2, CO was a female, she asked my husband ONLY three questions:

when did you get married?
Do you have any children?
Have you ever been out of the country?

Then she asked my husband if she could keep the passport? To which he said YES!!

Later this is what she said, "your case has been approved, but we have to do some office work and it will take 2-3 months" and pulled out the blue/green slip and handed it over to us. She didn't ask me anything at all and didn't look at any documents.. I had half a suitcase of evidence of relationship from our 4 and half years ... read complete review

Interview went ok....AP as usual.....
Our Interview questions were

(The officer pointed at me and asked) Who is she?
How did u meet?
was it arrange marriage or luv?
What makes u think she is a good match?
Why did u marry an educated girl not a village girl?
What other countries u have been to?
Why u didnt marry some one in India?(as my husband's maternal relatives are in india and he had visited them)
Would u go for 2 marraige,what abt 3rd,okay what abt 4th?
Whats ur education?
Where do u work?

Thats all they asked him. They didnt ask to see any docs,or pics probably bcoz I was ther with him.....But make sure to take them...
Best of Luck

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Sadly but surely we are put on AP! Although a positive thing is that the CO has converted my hubby visa from CR1 to IR1. A plus point for my hubby. CO asked quite a few questions, mostly the generic ones from, when we met, got married, what my husband does, what he plans to do? Since he has lived in the US before, he also asked about the places he lived at etc. Then he inquired about me...once he learnt that I have been living here with my hubby since we got married he asked if I was a citizen and asked me to come to the window. He asked me if my husband was really my husband, to which we all laughed. Then handed us 'THE GREEN PAPER!' He returned our passport back to us and gave us an approximate of 2-3 months of AP!

Here begins another waiting period!
