My fiance requested a Lao translator even though she and I speak Hmong to each other. The Consulate felt the need to drill my fiance on this. My fiance replied that she is more fluent in Lao and prefer speaking Lao when interacting in a "official" manner where as she speaks Hmong to me because I do not understand Lao and us speaking in Hmong is not so serious nature. My fiance's rational won out. Unfortunately, the Lao translator was also the Consulate who was horrible in Lao.
These Basic questions were asked: How we met. When was the last time we saw each other. My job position. How many immediate family members do I have.
There were 4 others that morning for Visa interviewing. My fiance and another girl were the only 2 who passed.

I was not present at the Interview.
She was only asked 3 questions: When was the last time we saw each other, who all accompanied her at the interview, how we know each other?.

The interview went pretty well. It took a long while before it was my fiancee's turn but when it finally was, she was asked to go up to window 2. From there the interview took place. The first thing they asked her was how did we meet. From there on it was the general questions all they way till they asked her when our wedding was. She said she knew it was in August but wasn't sure on the date and for them to ask me since I'm right there with her and the consulate looked at me just said to my fiance, "OK, that's fine, you are approved". I think it's actually a big plus to have me there but who knows. All in all, besides the, at the time, unavoidable nervous breakdown, it went very smooth. We were told to come pick up her visa the following Wednesday. I purchased our plane tickets way in advance but everything worked out.

Arrived at Embassy 0800. Called for interview at 1030. Sy was asked one question about when we first met and the two girls were asked about six questions. There questions were about why their mom wanted to immigrate to America, did they want to live in America, if I was a good man and treated Sy and the girls well etc... His ending comment to the girls was that he would see them in America. The interview was only 15 minutes long. Sy was told to return on the 23rd of June to pick up her visa. The interview was a very good experience for her. All of the people at the Embassy in Vientiane were very nice and extremely helpful to her.
