Review of Almaty consulate.

Interview was on Tuesday at 8:00 AM. My fiancée arrive 20 minutes earlier to the US consulate. She was asked to wait outside. There were two more guys who were appointed for interview as well. My fiancée saw a pleasantly plum person and was thinking that if he CEO she would bought him a donuts. She gave him a nick name “Donut” as well. She was worried and checks with security after 10 minutes of wait if they forgot about her. They told her with a smile that they will not forget to invite them inside when time comes. Later on they call all 3 people by names to enter the building.

She had documents in a folder and proof that we see each other in binder as well original copies of tickets and other stuff. They did not allow taking a pen and photo album that she brought
.
She was escorted with the security through the building. The place has very high security. I got impression that this building has more security... read complete review

Hi. Sorry for this late review of my U.S. Consulate experience in Almaty. Nevertheless, here it is and I hope you find it helpful.

I am from Tajikistan and I had my K1 Visa interview in the U.S. Consulate in Almaty on April 17, 2012. My interview was scheduled at 8:00AM. I was staying at Turkestan Hotel (3000 Kazakh Tenge per night, single room) and got to the Consulate in a taxi for 700 Kazakh Tenge. I arrived to the Consulate 20 minutes earlier as instructed. I waited outside. They opened the door and called us at 8:00AM. There were 2 other girls who had come for their K1 visa interview as well.

At the security check desk they asked for my passport. My passport had a cover on, so they asked me to take the passport out of the cover. I did so. I was carrying all my documents in a plastic bag. They asked me to take everything out. They told me I can’t take any binder or folders with me to the interview. So I had to take all my documentations out of the f... read complete review

I don't really know about other customers, last review was posted years ago.
We've had DV interview on February 7.Submitted all documents that normally suppose to help during interview.
The person who were interviewing us didn't even bother himself to observe all papers. And made a decision to put our case on Administrative Processing.
HE gave us a moth within such they were finish it all.
On same day we've receive an e-mail where he asked me to e-mail the copies of all documents to verify information .
It's bee five months since then.Nothing has changed.
People even not responding to my inquiries I'm sending. To me It's worse experience with US officials I ever had.

Please be sure that your interview date they send you is for a Tuesday as that is the only day they do K-1 visa interviews. We found this out when Roza's interview was rescheduled from September 7th, a Tuesday, to September 15th, a Wednesday. When she arrived on the 15th they told her she was suppose to have been there on the 14th as they on conduct interviews on Tuesdays. After rescheduling for a second time, her interview was for Tuesday, September 21st at 0800.
After arriving and checking the interview letter, Roza paid the $350 interview fee and waited to be called. Once called she gave them the DS-156K, the DS-230, and the I-134 forms along with her birth certificate and translation, and her police certificate and translation. Then asked when did we meet, when did I propose to her, and where did I live. Roza was told that she could get her passport with the visa Wednesday before 11am. The wait was about 30 minutes once inside. Going thru security is what takes a whi... read complete review

We had prepared for anything before the trip and was pleasantly surprised with how well it went. The person who conducted the interview was nice and easy to get along with.
