Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

I had to wait for about 2 hours when they called me to check on my papers ( it really helped that my husband was so annal about things) Everything was in order and they told me to sit down a again. * A lot of people got denied that day or were sent home because they didn't have their papers in order*
I was called again about an hour and a half later they asked me why did i live in England before, why did I get a divorce? when and where did I met my husbad?
Have I had any problems with the law in any country? Timeline between my divorve and wedding. Where has my husband lived? How often did he come to see me? ( I had photocopies of his passport and the entries in Guatemala) They were happy to see that I had two albums with pictures. They asked me to show them a few pictures and where and when were they taken.) She said everything is in order your visa has been approved!!!!

Review Topic: K1 Visa

I was told by others that it was better if the US citizen was there for the interview so I went and I'm glad I did. They were not pleasant to my fiance. We were missing a form (very minor) and the officer refused to let us fill it out there. She stated that we had to come back the next day and said, "the only reason I am giving you an appointment tomorrow is because SHE is here. Otherwise, you would have to wait another week." We brought the form back the next day and got a different officer--much nicer! She asked us both several questions and then approved the visa. She said to me, "Thank you for coming to the interview. It makes the process much easier when we can see you together."

Review Topic: K1 Visa

The guatemalan workers at the Embassy are often misinformed and do not have the exact information on how the K-1 process work. So be aware that you are receiving the right information when requesting information through email or when attending the interview. The only person who can tell you if you'll be denied or approved is the Vice-Consul.

Also, beware that most of the guatemalan officers working at the Embassy are very rude, unlike the american officers who were always very polite.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Long lines but very smooth and easy. American CO switched over to English with me as I attended the interview with my fiance and I answered the questions, did not seem very comfortable with her Spanish. They returned my original divorce decree as it was the only certified copy I had and I was able to leave a copy with them (but only because I requested so). Very smooth and easy. A little confused at first as K1 isn't technically an immigrant visa but we were put in the immigrant visa line outside the building.
