I traveled to Santiago Chile to be with my husband for his interview. We stayed in a hotel acrooss the street from the USEM in Santiago. We arrived an hour early for the interview. We were the first ones on line, everyone is scheduled at 1:30pm. Around 1:00pm they let us inside the embassy and we went inside where the interviews are given. By the way the Embassy is beautiful and very big. We sat down and exactly at 1:30 window #8 called my husband's number (1), she asked him if anyone was with him and he called me to the window and I was greeted by a very friendly woman. I went back to sit down, my hubby then signed the second part of DS230, he was asked if he had ever been married before and if he had children. After he answered no, she asked him to have a seat and wait for the Consul interview at window #6. We waited about 10 minutes and someone at window 6 called my husband by name. As soon as she greeted him she asked him to place his fingers on the scanner (fingerprints) wh... read complete review

First interview with hubby was ok. They just let them know they were going to ask some questions by myself and then together. Second interview i went alone to turn in the waiver packet wasn't ok at the beginning. Chilean worker was kinda rude and started getting into too much information that even the Consul didn't care about. It's sad how people from your own country treat you bad. I don't have any complain about american people who works at the US consulate, but a lot about the chileans. Thanks God the interview turned at the end ok.

The interview was scheduled for August 4th at 13:30, I arrived 45 minutes early. There were other people waiting outside. Security guards let us in at 13:30. I was lucky number 3. They called me around 2:00 pm; the receptionist requested me (in Spanish) the documents she needed. I gave her my birth certificate, criminal records certificate (with their respective translations), I-134 form (along with the backup documents), passport, Chilexpress visa fee receipt and DS-230 part II, (although she didn’t ask for it, I gave it to her anyway). She asked me to sign form DS-156K (sworn part). Only question she asked about our relationship was my fiancé’s birthday. She asked me to go back to my seat and wait for the consular officer who was going to ask me some more questions. They called me again around 3:00 pm and the consular officer asked me if I spoke English; after my affirmative answer I had my fingerprints taken and she went through the documents. She didn’t ask for any more pap... read complete review

The interview went very well, the Consul and other employees were professional and cordial. The appointment was for 1pm, there was a lot of waiting around. He was nervous and got one of the questions wrong, but it was an honest mistake. It was over around 5pm when the Consul advised "Congratulations and welcome to the United States"

We had our appointment on July 1, 2009. We were very pleased with the interview. We were delighted with how well the process went. The people at the American Embassy were professional and polite.
