Amy attended her consulate interview on January 23, 2024. Her first interviewer did not speak english (or even french). She requested a second interviewer due to the language barrier and importance of clear communication during the interview. The second interviewer requested an original of a document that she didn’t have with her. The Consular Officer provided a form on how to provide her passport and the original document to the consulate. The interviewer stated that once those documents were received, her visa would be approved. She submitted the documents within 3 days. We heard nothing until February 14, 2024 when Amy received an email from the consulate requesting her to go online and fill out an addiitonal form. We now know this is the dreaded DS-5535. So now we wait (again).

December 13, 2023 Interview. Everything went well until the very end when a 221g was given. No extra paperwork was needed and all we were told was wait until you are contacted to send in your passport. Contacted to send in passport on January 17th. Passport received in Montreal in January 25th. Nothing since.

Great Experience in Montreal, They asked for some photos and I had to get another RCMP records search as the one I had was the wrong type.

Quick and Efficient. The appointment was at 7:45 - showed up 5 minutes early for my timeslot, plenty of time, the guard was well on top of things, and he was amazed there was a group there waiting for their 8 am appointment out in the cold, he encouraged them to go get a coffee and come back, but they were fine to wait in the cold.
Admittedly I came over prepared - I had my own copies of everything that I printed off, more tax details than my spouse I needed, the full i-864, etc.
Ultimately they only asked for the originals of my Wife's W2 (We used an i-864EZ), my birth certificate, our marriage certificate, and my police certificate. Also requested were the Pictures and my Passport.
That first process was about 5 minutes after I sat down. My interview was about 15 minutes later and Approved after the standard questions. I did add my daughter's CRBA during the interview. I was there for less than an hour.
I was approved on the... read complete review

I had my interview at the Montreal Consulate on February 8, 2024 at 7:45 AM.
I stayed at the Best Western Downtown Europa, which is quite literally around the corner from the consulate. I walked over around 7:35 after seeing notes from others saying you don't really need to be there early, since a security officer pops outside and asks everyone in line what time their interviews are. If you're scheduled for 7:45 but the person in front of you is scheduled for 8:00, they will take you out of line and bring you inside. There was probably 10-15 people in line already when I got there.
Once inside you give your passport to someone who checks your name off a list, gives you two pieces of paper with your number on it and puts a sticker on the back of your passport. You go through an airport-style security before being told to put your phone and smart watch (if wearing one) into a locker. You take the key with you when you go upstairs. You'll take the elevator up... read complete review
