NYC Austrian consulate is outright racist - The Austrian consulate in NYC is the worst place to get a visa if you're brown. Sorry to say, but yes, I've concluded they're racist against any brown. I've seen top notch browns (Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis) rejected - those that are scientists and surgeons in the US - who have a Greencard, have $200k in checkings accounts, work for McKinsey etc.
I'm a hedge fund manager and showed a good bank balance. They rejected me for 'forged documents'. My friend was rejected for unclear travel plans although she had a clear day-by-day itinerary, is well traveled and well placed.
Later I found they discriminate against browns. Austria is getting to be right wing - http://time.com/4504010/europe-politics-swing-right/

2. As everyone else said, they don't let you in earlier. I had to wait outside. (Still glad I was early because it took me a little time to find it.)
3. I had a power bank in my bag and could leave it at the reception desk without a problem.
4. One thing I was nervous about where my pictures. I struggled for ages to get them right - walking in the embassy I found they have photo booths there. (American passport photos are a different size than the European standards.
5. Window 5, hand her everything on the checklist, pay at an other window. Talk to the consul.
They were all very nice and I had one missing copy - so we just scaned that and emailed it to them.
6. They don't send the passport and documents to your house. Someone needs to pick it up personally. L... read complete review
