Approved in Sydney!!!!!!!!!!
All went smoothly and I think it had a lot to do with having all the papers well organised, it was much appreciated by the consulate staff.

Number 1. You cannot get to the 10th., floor of MLC building until 7.45am because of some kind of security block on lifts. Once there you need interview letter and they do a quick securtiy check which is quite painless. When u clear security u are taken to the 59th., floor where u clear more security and hand over your mobile phones. Staff were really nice.

Number 2. Take a number and for K1 it is an immigrant visa number, take a seat and sit and wait till your number comes up. My interview time was 8am but I think by the time i got my first call 45 minutes had elapsed.

Number 3. Called up again just to let me know paperwork was all good and she couldn't see any problems and to let me know my name would be called up again sometime soon. A really ... read complete review

Success in Sydney!

Visa Approved!

Woo!

so for those who like the details and some tips...

tip 1: don't be runnin' late.

Yes. I was 23 minutes late. Ran into some unexpected traffic drivin' into the city. It's weird though, wasn't really freaking out. Anyway, one should allow a good 30 minutes to get through security.

tip 2: don't pick up your medical exam papers the day of the interview.

Stupid. But the woman at the reception of Dr Englishs office (in Sydney) insisted that I pick them up the day of the interview. She said she didn't like to send them out by mail. Fair enough, but insist you have them before, it really helps you avoid running late.

tip 3: don't let the elevators intimidate you.

I had been to the consulate once before so I thought i'd be right, I guess it's changed. So for those about to visit: You need to get to level 59 of the mlc buil... read complete review

PS As stated by others, organisation and preparation is the key. I can understand why these ladies can become so-called dragon ladies when you get people who haven’t even made a 20% effort in preparing their case, yet expect the consulate to drop everything and spend hours on their case…

My interview at the Sydney consulate went well, even though I had to wait a good 3.5 hours from start to finish. I probably spent a total of 15 minutes in actual contact time with the consulate staff on my case. The rest of the time was spent waiting because of other people who did not have their paperwork filled out correctly or had extreme cases yet expected to have everything sorted out at the consulate. That is why I highly recommend that anyone who has any discrepancy with their case or past, get it sorted out well before you get to the embassy for an interview. Overall I had a really good experience with them and everything went smoothly..
