My bothers went through their visa interview (U.S. family-based immigrant visa for unmarried adult children) recently at the American Consulate in Yerevan. The experience was overall positive. The only surprise was that the mandatory document list available on the USCIS site differed somewhat from the document list that Yerevan Consulate emailed them prior to the interview. Specifically, the USCIS site does not call for (1) non-marriage certificates (certificate from the local civil acts registry stating that the applicant is not married) and (2) military book even if the applicant never served in the military. Yerevan Consulate requested these documents anyway and we had to provide them.
The general wait times were as follows:
1. July 2016 - My mom applied for my brothers' visas.
2. October 2022 - NVC sent notices asking to upload all required documentation to CEAC. All the required documentation was uploaded to CEAC by December 2022.

It's hard to summarize the experience my fiancee had at the embassy in Yerevan. I accompanied my fiancee to the interview, so I can provide some first-hand experience of the whole ordeal. The guards at the gate were ok, and were helpful after speaking to them a bit and being as nice as possible--I guess they aren't used to having Americans visit them.
The interview process was mixed, and this will sound horrible, but it is the whole truth, so help me.
The American counselor was fantastic, and everything you expect from us (Americans): helpful, kind, patient, listened to my fiancee, and treated her with the utmost respect. She and I are extremely appreciative of that counselor, and have nothing but the highest respect for him.
Here's where it becomes a bit one-sided: Having been to Armenia once before, our expectations were a bit mixed, but the Armenian staff at the embassy solidified a negative notion. The Armenian staff inside were curt, impatient... read complete review

The Consular Officer did not read our financial documents and instructed us to find a sponsor, so we just re-submitted the same documentation we had previously uploaded via CEAC, and it was then approved. The Consular Officer also requested a new passport and a re-issued version of my birth certificate because they were 'old and dirty,' which we had to submit via the local courier. After a bit of a mix-up on the Consular Office's side which delayed the process by about a week, we finally got the visas.
