  1. I filed K-1 after my first visit but went back and married my husband months later. I did not withdraw my K-1, I filed the marriage visa, attached my original NOA1 receipt (NOA2 had not yet arrived) and entered the new evidence with it of my marriage. The USCIS sent me a letter explaining they dropped my I-129 and added the marriage visa to my case and updated. It only took eight months total from when I submitted the new application and evidence to when my husband was approved and allowed to come home to me.

It's better to follow the rules and do it the right way the first time.

  2. Hi Michael_88,

Our situations are similar. When my husband and I adjusted status we did not have many joint accounts either. But we are both older (in our 40's) so I was already established and most everything was paid for when he arrived. We did have the joint bank account and two credit cards together. We also bought a vehicle together wtih a very low payment.

I'm not suggesting that you go out and buy a car, but do like we did...I wrote a letter and explained our situation. Just be honest. They know everyone has to get a start and living with someone else while trying to get established is a responsible thing to do.

BTW, we had no problems with just that little information.

    Good luck to you!

  3. Yep do that everytime also. Goodness well someone will come and straighten it out. am sure this week someone will hear smething. But than they will get this crooked list and OMG chaos will reign. LOL

  4. Hi everyone,

Great news!!!! my case has been forwarded to the U.S. Embasy/Consulate in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic for expeditious processing and hubby has been sent an open appointment letter to appear on any working day at 6:45 a.m. I am leaving for D.R. in two weeks...... The reason my case was approved for expeditious processing is I am currently 23 weeks pregnant.....

Awww...congratulations on your pregnancy and here are prayers going up that your spouse can come on back with you and help take care of you and baby!

Yes I believe so. Next week I will roll out the march interview thread.

Looks like my case complete might be right on the edge of january. Just want this done. Ughhhh.

This :innocent: is praying your interview rolls out next month! Missing you!

  5. That is all good information to prove that you met in person, especially the full passport, page by page, and the plane tickets/itineraries, etc. The photo's are another big plus. If you have receipts from where places you toured or visited while your fiance was visiting and receipts from restaurants or vendors where you ate or bought gifts, that is also helpful. All the additional information you are providing is just a plus to what you already have.

Just remember, the time limit on your "facetime" together is within 2 years. Sooner to the filing date is better and a planned future trip to add to your facetime is even better. Especially if you have only met in person one time.

    Hope that helps.

  6. I'd say as tough as Nigeria is with K-1 Visa's...I would definitely NOT file K-1. If he wants to remarry and petition, he'd have a better chance with that route.

If he is denied on K-1, and he has to go through a review, his original petition will expire before his fiancee can go back for a second interview. It's risky...even when RED Flags such as this are not involved.

  7. Yeah that's what I saw on the graph - July.

I don't want it to drag on and on but I also don't want it as soon as Feb 1. I started to panick because we don't have all our paperwork ready. I need to stop looking at that timeline but I can't seem to quit!

Just keep moving forward with your paperwork. Have faith if you are given mercy to travel through so quickly...God will give you the grace to get it all together in just the right amount of time! We've seen some move through really quick...others over a year.

I filed in March 2012 (CSC), Interview October 31st. Not that much time but if you stay focused, you can do it!

  8. Our case was completed Dec 11th was told we would get a Feb interview. Called NVC this morning and the rep explained that an interview appointment has not been scheduled and that interviews are scheduled all thru the month not just during the 2nd week...hmmmm....

YEAH!!! ITS FEBRUARY!!! WISHING ALL OF YOU A SPEEDY RESPONSE FOR YOUR FEBRUARY CONSULATE APPOINTMENTS :D

From the history of these Interview forums the past four or five months now, we see that NVC begins their scheduling around the second week of the month, meaning they have most things scheduled by the second week of the month to send out an email blast to those who have got dates. Almost all of them are blasted out at the same time...then sporadically, as dates become available or as others reschedule their own dates, for whatever reason, the NVC sporadically fills those dates until there are no more.

So, in short, the NVC does schedule throughout the month, but the majority of the dates are sent out by the second week of the month in a mass email blast.

Hope that helps explain it better.

I just noticed that my name disappeared from the list. I guess someone doesn't like me!

They like you, it happens when they go back to far to grab a list to add their name to. Use the most current one below and re-add yourself! Good luck on an interview date this week!

  9. With that post above, I just hit 9,000 posts laughing.giflaughing.giflaughing.gif

    Congrats! ...I think!

Are your fingers tired yet Saylin? Just wanted to say hi to you and report my husband is home! He's been here three weeks tonight, got his green card and social security card this week. He also has applied for employment at a temporary agency and we are on our way. Just wanted to give a shout out again and say thank you for all your help during this process!

  10. Oh crazy has come and gone. Doubt, questioning. Hell was wondering if husband was full of it. One thing I know dealing with Nigeria through all other rules and regulations out the window. I remember when I was there and I had a FEDEX sent to me from my bank and it took 3 weeks (yep an overnight). I sent letters everyday for a month. One made it and it took 6 months. Heck Dana and Divine just had a package delivered this past July it only took 2 years to get there.

Yep, and two years from now Deb and her hub's are going to have three copies of all of their documents arrive through DHL! That place is just crazy! I had thought of sending Christmas cards at the end of last month...but why bother? They won't get them until I visit next year anyway so I might as well just take them along!

  11. Also, I bought sticky flags. I am not sure whether I'll need them. At first I thought I might, to draw attention to important items in the giant stack of paper I'm sending. Not sure.

    Seriously going bonkers over here!

I have til February but really would like to get this in ASAP, obviously

If the RFE was to address gaps, organize all documentation into Monthly folders or Month/Year. They can easily see what was happening in the gapped time frames. Just include a cover letter and address each month/year they mention in the RFE.

  12. Hi VJ family, Please did u write your case number on the upper right hand corner of your original documents when sending it to the NVC with the DS230 form? and if u did what did u use, a pen or pencil. I am kind of worried about using pen to write my case number on my original documents.

No ma'am I didn't write on mine and I didn't punch holes in them either. I placed all of my originals in a envelope and hole punched the large envelope only and placed them all inside a folder labeled, ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS....then listed them one by one with bullets so they could not say I had left anything out. I placed inside "a color copy" which I wrote "copy" across in yellow highlighter, and hole punched those to place with the original petition.

    Hope this helps!

  13. I really beleive you are going to regret it if you pull this petition. I have seen one other person do this and then later come back to petition again. This can not only cause you a huge expense if you pick it back up, but it can also cause you issues at interview if they notice you have pulled a petition then refilled again for this same person, or even another person. Nigeria is possibly the most difficult embassy there is to get an approval. So know concretely that this is what you want to do "Before" you actually do it.

If you are truly considering it, I'd go the "expire" route before I'd go the "pull the petition route".
