Thanks so mUch for this comment! I decided to have her focus on the athletic portion of "why" she wants to go to a university in the USA. I told her to get all her medals she has won, any newspaper clipping, articles that mention her and bring them. I told her make sure the CO doing the interview understands that the scholarship she received is athletic based. I told her to say she wants to continue training in the USA with hopes to make the Olympic team and represent Ecuador in 2020.
 
Shes been given a tourist visa. She's been to the USA and back. They have trusted her before. She needs to prove why she needs to study outside of the USA, and this is why. Hopefully this (plus all the other stuff I told her to get together) will be what she needs!

No. I think Pedro really does want to be in a relationship with Chantel and stay in the USA. I think he's a little shady and definitely sends too much back to the DR to his family.  But certainly no more than my Latin in-laws ask for.  We just tell them "no".  My sister in law basically gives my in-laws a monthly stipend to live off of, so it is actually super common for children to send money and things home to family. I totally believe that and understand it.  Do my husband and I do it?  Not really, though we do take on other financial responsibilities of his parents.  Again, it's the culture. We don't give them as much as they want, but we do help out. My sister-in-law pays their bills, gives them money for food, I'm talking everything. It's soooo normal. Chantel's family and Chantel just need to understand that.  If they did any sort of research at all into Latin culture they'd realize it's commonplace.
 
I think Chantel's family is ignorant and uneducated and bougie and terrible.  But when Pedro's all secretive it certainly doesn't help anything.

Hope she can make it work out. Some years back a bunch of guys from my home country got swimming scholarships to the University of Arizona and broke the Olympic & world records when they won their gold (4x100 relay).  For an athlete from a developing country with limited resources, the US holds brilliant opportunities to excel at sport.
 
 
 

She's swimming. She wants to train in the USA to try to make the Olympic team. She is quite good for her country. She contacted the university and they were basically like "there's nothing we can do" Which is true. I mean they can't force the US government to give out visas.

Can they get a student loan? I took my student loan letter from India to the interview though they never asked me about finances in the interview. 

I agree. She seems to enjoy the suffering. She reminds me of a “friend” of mine who always has to have some illness or another. I’ve lost count of all the illnesses she’s had this year. Rachel likes the sympathy and attention it brings. Not one of us enjoyed the process. I cried many times too. But I never felt the process was unfair. Frustrating, yes. Slow, yes. Expensive, yes. Unfair, never. I’m mature enough to know that there are many more applications than USCIS can realistically cope with, there are many fraudulent applications that need to be weeded out and there are stringent requirements in place as immigration USCs privilege, not a right.  

I think that is what we here sometimes forget.... these people are not the brightest to start off with.  I mean, who'd want the drama and airing of dirty laundry on a national TV show? No-one who thinks this trough... so those that are left, those that go on the show, are hand picked for drama and, well, not being very intelligent/ not having studied the process, unlike most of us on this site.

I wonder when TLC will finally announce their CR-1 visa spin off they are clearly planning.

2 GoFundMe accounts were set-up.  Then closed down.  Rachel says it's not "morally right" (at this time) for them to use GFM.   Instead they're selling Cameo Video's  ($30 for Rachel,  $50 for Jon) to say  HAPPY BIRTHDAY or whatever you desire.  Or you can visit their Instagram account and ask why Baby Lucy never wore socks ... and Jon will curse you for free. 

So Rachel thinks Jon is not bad because “he’s not a murderer or a thief”. I took great exception to this. As most of you probably know, my husband had a felony conviction which means he is banned from the U.K. (and a whole load of other places) and this is the only reason I immigrated here. Our plan was to live in the U.K. but that was halted by U.K. immigration. My husband was convicted of theft. I’m not proud of it. Neither is he. But I tell you something, I’d rather lose my wallet than my teeth or my eyesight. My husband stole without even being seen (he helped himself to money in the safe at a workplace after hours when people had all gone home). He used a key to get in. No one was hurt directly. Yes, we’ve heard the arguments that maybe someone lost their job because the company couldn’t afford to keep them anymore but that’s hypothetical. John punched 60 people, causing injury to at least one. 
 
He almost exploded during the Tell All and my goodness did Rachel look ashamed and embarrassed. She was squirming in her seat. She couldn’t look him, the presenter or the cameraman in the eye. I’ve never seen anyone look more uncomfortable. 

Seriously!! When she said that I was sooooo annoyed. She is so dramatic and whiny. She started it off by saying "oh we can't be together and it's not fair" as if she is the ONLY person in the world dealing with immigration. *EYE ROLL* And the only reason their process is so complicated and uncertain is because her husband got in MULTIPLE fights! I don't care what the circumstances were, he still has to accept the consequences and accept the blame instead of them constantly trying to blame on the visa process for being "unfair."
 
Then the comment about needing an ABSURD amount of money?? WTH!!! I'm sorry, but even for someone living paycheck to paycheck, $1000ish is not an ABSURD amount of money. Yea it might take awhile to save up, but if her husband gets another job (what kind of person who needs money so badly just up and quits their job anyway?) then they should be able to save it quickly. She made it sound like it was $10k+ or something - maybe she is counting lawyer fees in which case someone should really tell her about VJ!! Although judging by the two of them, not sure they could successfully complete the application process on their own anyway.

Grrr Jon and his “we don’t want to do the K-1 because I don’t want to have to ask permission”. Who does he think he is? What an arrogant individual. Nobody has the right to immigrate here. Even couples married for 30 years with a dozen children and grandchildren are not guaranteed to be approved. Every single one of us had to ask permission to be with our spouse. What the heck does he think a visa is, if it’s not “asking permission” to enter a country that’s not yours? Does he seriously believe that as a spouse he is automatically entitled to a green card? What a knob. Young man, you *will* be asking permission, whether you like it or not. And be prepared for the permission to be denied. 
 
From the word go these two muppets have considered themselves to be something special. They need a huge reality check. If she can stop crying, wiping her tears and then staring at her hands long enough to get one. I’ve never known such arrogance.

Tariq and Grandma: both the foreigners in those are so obvious.  On camera. I mean, if you are trying to scam for a greencard, why mention, on a shot thousands watch and USCIS probably too, that you are considering a richer man in Japan, or dreams of coming to America after a fight with white grandma are gone, he wasted time, and so he has to patch it up?
 

6 months also but not as a tourist. Are would have to be a resident and the requirements for a spousal visa for the U.K. are stricter than for the USA. 
 
But I’m sick and tired of her crying and “it’s not fair”. Listen, sweetheart, all of us had to endure separation. My husband and I were long-distance for 4.5 years until I moved here and we also had a visa denial along the way. This is the path she chose in life. No one held a gun to her head and forced her into anything. She’s in her 30s but cries like a teenager all the tine. 

Just like many others on this forum I guess...go for the K-1 because it’s 6 weeks faster and then whine that they don’t have enough money, delay filing AOS or request an expedite on the EAD. When all along, for most of then, there was an alternative. 

Me too! So sick to the back teeth of Rachel and Jon and all this "unfair that we can't be together" speech. Even couples with no criminal records between them can't "just be together". There's a process to follow and we all have to follow it. They act like they invented love and that no one else ever felt like that. 
 
The only thing stopping her from moving to England (and the process is much quicker than the K-1 or CR-1) is her lifestyle choices. People who share custody have moved overseas before. And there's nothing to suggest he wouldn't be approved after a waiver has been filed.  

Agreed!   What K1 or CR1 couple HASN'T gone through a long waiting period???  It annoys me to see people make their own problems - and then cry about it.  SHE chose a guy in the UK - who had 60 fights - a criminal record - who was kicked out of university - who lives at home with mum - who was denied a visa (ESTA).  They used a GoFundMe just to buy airline tickets.  She took her 8 month old and didn't think to get a hotel (money problems?).  Has she THOUGHT about income requirements needed for sponsoring an immigrant spouse??  A single mom with 2 kids.  That will undoubtedly be ANOTHER "unfair" moment of discovery.   Maybe daddy can co-sponsor Jon.  And let's not talk about the fees.... 

I am so sick of Rachel & Jon's "woe is me" speech.  Guess what Jon, when you have a criminal background there are consequences.  It's not "unfair" it's the way the world works.  Get over it and get a good lawyer.  Not one of those POS rent-a-lawyers they always have on the show that always know NOTHING about immigration.

I think the issue about "shoe gate" is Jesse has already shown plenty of signs of emotional abuse. Had it been Micheal to be like "this crazy lady threw a shoe at me", I'd be like "Get out!" But Jesse is manipulative, abusive and narcissistic. This is just a new way to keep her under control.

Um, to an extent.  I get that Jesse (and your husband) want to stay away from it.  I and I understand that you and your husband have an agreement to not having alcohol in the house.  But I know many ex-alcoholics who are perfectly capable of being around people who drink and being okay with it.  My friends and family members know I drink and know not to comment on it, I know they don't drink and I make sure we always have non-alcoholic beer when they visit.  I guess it depends on the couple/relationship, but it is possible to have a healthy relationship with alcohol, or a healthy relationship with someone who drinks.

I bet She said that to protect herself. She does not want to sleep with this guy she barely knows. That whole "I thought there were two beds" bull ! He knew it was one bed and was trying to get in her pants. Then when she's obviously uncomfortable in the situation he makes her kiss him so he won't toUch her. That is really rapey and disgusting. He's playing his power card like no other.
