I am not quite at the point you and your husband are at, but my wife just received her visa and will be coming to the U.S. June 4th. However, after attending an open house at the local USCIS office here in Honolulu, I found out that if your husband is deploying, they can expedite everything and you can receive your citizenship within 2 to 3 months. Im not sure where you guys are stationed but I would recommend making an appointment and going to see the military representative at the local USCIS office you can do that through infopass its a quick and easy process online. Just go to infopass.uscis.gov/ . Calling the big USCIS in the sky as I call it is good, but its always nice to be able to put a name with a face, so go to your local office let them know what your situation is, and they will help you. I am sure of it. God Bless, and try not to stress, I know how it is, my wife and I are right there with you guys, and being in the military makes it even tougher. We miltiary folk have to help each other, if you need any info while your husband is deployed, not that I am trying to get in your business or anything, but I have been in the military for over 15 years and I can point you in the right direction.

Well, I would say this, be careful because one call to the consulate may throw a monkey wrench in what your trying to acheive here. I have learned that its better to be safe than sorry with these consulates overseas. Because your considering a student visa after you have already applied for a fiance and are close to the interview, leads me to believe you yourself might have doubts for what ever reason. I dont doubt that you love your fiance, I would hope so after 5 years, but parents or no parents, if you yourself are having doubts about the marriage, you need to think this out. Parents dont just go away, you can keep them as far away from your personal life as you like, especially if you live in another country, but they dont just go away. Theres holidays, child birth, medical emergencies, etc.. etc.. and parents somehow find their way into your life especially if you are close to them and it sounds like you are. Parents will use God, country and money, to protect their babies which unfortunately no matter how grown you get you will always be to them. Now, with that said, its your life, if you love your fiance proceed as plan dont make any abrupt changes to your plans, if your doubts are as a result of your parents words and actions be strong and keep running the race, but if the doubts were already there, and your parents words and actions just made them plain to you then you have got some thinking to do. As one person said here, a notarized letter stating that your parents are meddling in your affairs might be a good precaution, that should be relatively inexpensive to accomplish, it will show the consulate that you are serious about your marriage.

Wow, I just received my NOA2 after sending in what seemed like my wife and I life history as RFE. This Visa process is literally insane. As a member of the armed forces all I can say is wow, it truly is a privelege a honor and a downright miracle to get a visa to come to this country. I have heard the tears of my wife and not been there to wipe them, and I am few toys shy of a happy meal after all of this. Seriously, what marriage in the United States even starts out like this. I will say this though, it has reaffirmed my love for my wife, and the way in which she has handled all of this shows me that she is a real till the end type of a girl. I just want to say to all of you who have waited and those that are waiting. The bible says: Come all ye who are burdened and heavy ladened, and I will give you rest. I have to give honor to my lord and savior jesus christ for that peace that passes all understanding. It isnt easy to wait and it isnt easy to get denied and it isnt easy to get talked to like your 3 years old and it isnt easy to find patience to call 33 times in one day and spend close to 100 dollars on phone card bills to get through to a consulate that has employees that act like that just dont give a darn, but in the end it is worth it, the victory is ooooooh so sweet my friends. If this post encourages just one person, I will be happy. The bible says that the race is not won by the swift nor the strong, but he who endureth to the end, endure my friends endure, and if any of you need prayer in your visa issues and struggles let me know, I would be glad, no honored to do so!!!!!!!
