I applied for my passport and for my kids on the same day. The passport office understood the process. The only glitch was that I didn't send the kids' green cards with the application and the passport office wrote back asking for them. I sent those and the passports were issued. I got my passport less than 2 weeks after applying (no expedite) and theirs came a little over a week later.

Do you know how I get a permanent resident card, because it is illegal to stay in Romania longer than 90 days without a residency card or visa

I believe from the topic of this thread you are a dual citizen of both Romania and the US. I don't think you will need a residency card or visa. You just need to apply for a Romanian passport if you don't have one. Check the requirements for a passport with the Romanian Embassy/Consulate.

I have a question about the interview, do you need to bring your spouse? I am planning on going with my mother in-law.

I don't think you need to go with your spouse.

I had the same question when I was going for my interview. I scouted the threads for people that had gone through my local office(Los Angeles). I sent a private message to each of them asking whether they went with their spouse. I got a lot of responses and made up my mind not to go with my spouse, based on their experiences. It just wasn't worth taking a day off to sit in the waiting room, just so the IO can see him/her sitting with you when you are called.

I've read every interview experience posted on this website in 2014 and dozens from 2013... of course I may have missed two or three... but I have never read anything about anyone being asked only 2 civics questions.

Me too! Never heard someone that was asked just 2 questions before.
