USCIS, through fees, is a self-funding agency.
Speculation is fruitless.  Just have to wait for the backlogs and wheels of bureaucracy to move.

Fun fact: my I-485 took quicker under Trump than I-485s take nowadays under Biden. I'm by no means a Trump supporter. I just think no matter who's in power there's objective reasons why immigration is slowing down. It's simply the amount of people seeking immigration benefit (think asylum seekers, family reunions). And there hasn't been any changes in immigration system to support this demand.

Considering how important the ceremony is to you (and there's nothing wrong with that), I would recommend choosing one of two ways for you to move forward:

    1.  Go the CR-1 route.  Have the big, celebratory wedding with family and friends.  Then, you start the CR-1 process and wait to be reunited.
    2.  Go the K1 route.  Once your fiancee gets here, have a small wedding.  Once she is able to travel out of the country, go back to her country and have the big, celebratory wedding with family and friends.

    Just my suggestions.

    Good luck.

As RO_AH responded, there is no cost.  The only issue with CFO is ever changing requirements.  As a side note, Filipina's who are shy, quiet, meek, and avoid eye contact will find it a rough go.  They are chum to the CFO sharks.

Anyone can comment. However, OP is right: if you have no idea of what you are talking about, clearly not knowing anything about the process and yet accusing OP of a mistake, yes this is annoying. And harmful to the rest of the community because you are stating false information. If you have no idea about the process, don’t post false information as a fact.

    Hi everyone,

Topic author here - Just want to say a BIG Thank You to each and everyone of you who responded with some very great and valid points.

Okay sounds good, then I will deviate from this plan as I truly have good intentions but I can certainly put myself into CBP shoes and see it from their angle that this plan may appear suspicious.

I certainly want to the right thing and be a law-abiding person, so I'll just have to make less frequent trips.

Thanks again, great discussion, much appreciated 😇

USCIS is not pressured by congress to improve.  Congress has no reason to pressure USCIS because their constituents don't care about, or know anything about,  legal immigration.  Legal immigration is simply not a priority. Honestly, most of us knew almost nothing about legal immigration before we started this. It never even crossed our minds. Legal immigration certainly never makes the news.  And I really don't think any of this is going to change.

If someone is accused of being violent (and they're not), then meeting in public is safer for them.  Let somebody record.  That will be proof that no violence has occurred.  Meeting in private allows for false claims of violence to be made with no proof otherwise.

Now, if the person is actually violent, then a public meeting does not work in their favor.

First, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you don't view your wife as a commodity.  You're just in a really bad situation right now and it's going to take a lot of understanding on your part to fix things.

Something none of us seem to be prepared for is the, I guess, emotional and psychological issues involved with leaving everything in your world and moving here to be with someone.  My wife wasn't prepared for it and I wasn't prepared for how it would affect her. It is definitely a common issue that people face.  You're coming home to a wife that is probably depressed in a way that we can't understand.  It's not that she's immature, irresponsible, or lazy.  She is depressed and alone in a strange, new country.  When my wife first got here, she stayed home while I worked.  When I got home, even though I didn't want to do anything except sit down and relax, we made it a point to get in the car and just drive around some.  Get her out of the house and let her do something; anything.  And even with me doing that, she was still lonely and depressed all the time.  It wasn't until she started working and making her own friends that she started to get better.

The fact that you hit her is an issue.  It doesn't matter how lightly you hit her, if her Filipina friend puts ideas in her head (VAWA), then you've got a real problem ahead of you.  Yes, she was wrong for covering your eyes while driving but this could still go very bad for you.

Also, leaving her alone while you went to the zoo was another huge mistake.  Don't call it some silly tampo fit.  I don't like tampo either, none of us do, but don't minimize her feelings in this.  A lot of what you write, you're belittling her, making her seem less than you, using words like silly and immature.  If you're able to talk to her again, you need to apologize and take full responsibility if you want to fix things.  Then start letting her be more involved in decision making, like with the finances.  This can be fixed but it will take lots of time and a huge amount of understanding on your part.

However, if she has VAWA plans, then you're in a really bad spot.

I think this is a eloquently simple way to put it. My dad had been a Carter supporter who couldn't bring himself to vote for either Carter or Reagan in 1980, he tells me. He didn't support what either stood for. But he deeply admired what Carter did after he left the White House, and how he lived a life that was true to his faith by putting philosophy into concrete action.

May his passage be comfortable, and may his loved ones take comfort in having known his love.

Just an update regarding my wife's cousin. To make a long story short, we had to ask the cousin to leave and we will stop supporting her and paying her college expenses. My wife's family caught the cousin clubbing and not telling the truth of her whereabouts. The cousin was also disrespecting my wife's mom by talking behind her back. Apparently, the cousin's social friends are more important than the family that is supporting her financially.

It is sad that others would appreciate financial support to go to school but this cousin rather take a different path.
