Messybrownhair got a reaction from jpidgley in POE K1 interview
I did my POE in SFO and it was super easy... they did not even take me to a separate area. Just give the envelope and they will open it, do fingerprints, ask a few questions, write on your i-94 and attach it to your passport and then done.. the questions were who is your petitioner, where does he live etc.. took about 15 minutes tops.
I blogged about my POE experience here

Messybrownhair got a reaction from Nigel&Meggie in What happens with the work permit between K1 and AOS?
There is no temporary work permit that you get from the airport. Your fiance will need to apply for EAD. Most people apply for EAD together with the AOS because it comes with the fee. He is allowed to apply for EAD upon arrival but it will only be valid until his i-94 is valid, and it will take about 2 months to process, so it is pretty useless. To make the long story short, k1 filers pretty much cannot work until you file for AOS and receive your EAD.

I think you have enough evidence as of now to file for k1.. thats just my opinion though.. 5 pictures is enough, and you have the stamp and other chat logs to back you up.. then you will have 5-6 months to build up your case which hopefully will be enough. my advice would be to save your next trip for her interview so that you can be there with her which will solidify your case. if you don't make enough, you could always get a co-sponsor, although it is true that they are not always accepted. goodluck on whichever you decide

Messybrownhair got a reaction from Lisa and Kano in K-1 expedite request
Eh.. I don't think it will really cause any harm. They read the cover letter, will choose not to expedite it and so it will just be processed normally. It's not like it will be sent to somewhere special because on the cover letter the OP asked if it could be processed as quickly as possible. There is no formula for a cover letter, if the OP just writes and explains his k1 situation and asks to be processed as quickly as possible, whats wrong with that? It's not like there is a separate form for an expedite, well if there was we did not use one, we just wrote it on the cover letter... This is just my opinion though..

Keep in mind that if you do "something bad" while you are still married like commit adultery, she can use that against you in the divorce proceedings and you could be even more screwed. Divorce her now, then let her be. And delete this post, it could come back to bite you if she finds out about it and uses it as evidence or something. I don't know, at this point, there is no "sending her back" so just get her out of your life and move on.

Actually our plan is to go back to China or Manila for work, but he is tied to the military until 2015, so it won't be till for a while. I had a great job in Shanghai and we both liked it there, plus its so near Manila. So for now, the plan is to go to graduate school and wait it out till he can get out!

To me it seems like when the other one didn't work out, she looked for a back-up right away. Maybe I'm being judgemental but that's just how it looks from my perspective ^.^ I hope I am wrong and best of luck to you both!

It is hard for me to imagine that a girl would be willing to marry two different men in a span of less than 6 months. Marriage is not a joke, it's a serious institution. If the first guy broke her heart, I don't see how easy it would be for her to meet someone else, fall in love, and be ready for marriage again in just a total span of 6 months. From the OP's story, when you factor the time between filing a petition and an NOA2, it seems she jumped on the OP's boat almost immediately the first one did not work out. OP, please you need to rethink this again thoroughly. She hid some facts from, got you proposing immediately after her last, ...are you sure she really loves you? As bitter as it may sound, I smell a rat ...or a fish.

Sounds like your girl is fishing for foreigners. You might want to get to know her very well first before you continue. What else is she not telling you? You can get the previous petitioner's contact from her and try to have a friendly chat with him. Find out why he did not follow through with her (hopefully their stories match). There may be other things you would find out from him that your girl would not let you know. If all goes well, then you can have him withdraw any pending petition so you can initiate yours again.

First of all, I am sorry that she did not tell you about it. It must not have been a pleasant surprise to hear. She should have known better but I have a feeling she was too afraid to risk losing you. Anyway.. it sucks that you have to be the one to suffer the consequences of the unaccounted previous petition. And if I am not mistaken, you will have to wait for USCIS to get back to you right? Someone correct me if I am wrong. Also, is there a way to ask the previous petitioner to withdraw it as previously mentioned by godsgift? Also, remember that honesty is very important in a relationship. Just a thought.

Messybrownhair got a reaction from Judy & Eugene in How hard is it in the state.
It would depend on a lot of factors like the kind of lifestyle you want to live by there, or what you have been accustomed to vs. what you will get there. I grew up in Manila with a maid and a driver so when I moved to China to work by myself 2 years ago, it took me forever to adjust. It's a good thing I got experience in China or else moving to the US directly might have been bad. Also, it is hard to find a job thats why I'm choosing to go back to school instead. But I guess you have to weigh the pros and the cons. I chose to leave my great job in China, my great family and comfort of living in the Philippines for my fiance. But that was my choice because I love him even if that means having to give up some luxuries that I used to enjoy. We are both young and I am optimistic that we can make it work.
I wish the best for you guys and do not worry so much about it

Well churches only charge about $150.. and there are a ton of cheap reception halls. really, 3500 is completely doable! if i were in her shoes and i was that desperate for a big wedding, i wouldnt delay the wedding, i would just ask oprah or ellen to help, i would write to them! the solution here isnt to postpone it, there are so many ways to get creative. "If there's a will, there's a way"
sigh, i wish you luck and hope this works out!
Oh and the oprah and ellen thing is just an example lol
