  1. There is nothing you can do and they are legal to require citizenship. I have seen jobs that require your immediate family to be born in the U.S.

Defense contractors do hire green card holders because they are still considered "U.S. Persons". You just have to try different head hunters. The largest defense contractors such as Boeing do not use head hunters, so you will have to search their web site. I would tell them upfront. Why waste time.

Avoiding those direct questions on forms will not help you. They will kick you out when they do a background check 3 months into your employment for not being truthful on the application. Most positions I've seen are conditional to be able to get a security clearance or they will kick you out if you can't.

  2. Online is risky. Are you looking at a degree, trade, or just learn something?

Since you are just starting out, might not get any traction with an online degree.

Online programs usually come with more work because no students to slow down the class. Everything is according to the syllabus.

I don't like them because they feel like a self study course.

  3. Your sister is stupid, so don't listen to her. Listen to yourself! If you don't believe him and don't think you can live with his lies, then cut him off before it's too late.

After you receive your package. Call him and tell him you don't believe him. Get to the truth! Tell him this marriage is not going to work if he is not honest with you.

I personally would drop him because of the web of lies. I don't even care what the real reason was or what he did on his vacation. Without trust there is no relationship.

  4. I got an appointment at the U.S. Consulate office online. I had to use the form on the Consulate's website. They do not recognize other forms. Bring passport and they stamped and signed it at the window for $50 USD credit card.

You need to have a copy of your fiancee's Chinese ID. They took a look and gave it back to me. You can bring copy or fax it in or they will tell you to come back when you do.

Since you are going to be there! Get your spouse to fill out the i-130, G-325A, and affidavits before returning.

You can also do this in the U.S. before leaving for China, but the process is stupid. You have to print a form at the Chinese consulate's web site to say you are single. Sign it in front of notary public, take form to county office to get stamp certifying the notary public is legit, take to state office to get state seal certifying the county office stamp is legit, then bring to Chinese consulate for stamp saying they recognize the state seal. Cost about $50 and hours of valuable time.

  5. I did all the expected from reading everything here, following instructions, to reviewing practice questions.

    1. The most important was to teach my wife every item on all the forms and what they are. Knowledge is power!

    2. Don’t give the interviewer time to think when you see hesitation.

  6. I lump because I don't have time to know everyone or willing to take the risk. Some call it experience. This includes neighborhoods, gangsters, and people following me at night.

I'm sure I miss some, but there are so much more I can feeling comfortable dealing with.

I only dislike religious people when they think they are better than me.

I don't like or not like people based on their race, religion etc.. I base it on what type of person they are... you can't just lump people together :P

  7. I like to use Google Voice to call China for 2-cents a minute from my iPhone to a mobile. Not sure why UK is 10-cents for mobile and 2-cents for landline.

I use it because most phones cards do not offer a record and charge crazy connection, maintenance, and minimum charges adding up to 15% of the card price.

  8. Any jobs that eat off the state or city is bad right now. Federal is a bit better. I think moving to states in the middle of the U.S. will help! There are many Right to Work states that are taking all the relocating jobs from union states. California is the worse.. I too may have to move in the future.

  9. You have to be using multiple headhunters! 4 interviews is nothing. I know people had 20 to 30 interviews and still sitting at home.

Post the resume many websites, not just apply for the jobs.

Apply for jobs with your full experience and education and also have a less education resume for lower paying jobs. Most companies will have an idea of what the salary ranges are with your experience and education. Attack this from different levels. I know a guy with a new Phd and no experience took 2 years to get a job because this pay was pretty high without experience. A big risk for any company.
