  1. I am not sure about arranging civil documents for DS-230.

Is it okay if we separate all photocopies and make a set ? I mean there will be two sets. 1 set of Original Documents and second set of all photocopies.

Is that fine or I need to include photocopies along with the Originals and only make 1 set?

    Members please help.

make 2 sets... 1st should be Original and 2nd Set Copy...

make the 1st set and write ur NVC case# on top right hand side corner... so that way when u make copy u dont have to write the number again on all the pages...

and clearly mark the second set as COPY... u can use a Sticky note if u like...

  2. Yea, have heard that from a few people, but couldn't think of anything better.

Spoke to my represntative staffer, she told me bring in the privacy form and they will do a follow up on my behalf. Not sure if that would be good or bad.

    hey there...

if u have sent in ur RFE a while ago, i would give it about 20 business days... they process RFE's quickley...

and if u want to take senators help go ahead... thats what i did and my case was handled quickly after 5 month mark...

it can never hurt ur chances... if it wont help it wont hurt either...

  3. Hello Members,

    I have two questions:

1: Does the Petitioner's Original Birth Certificate is required for CR-1 (Spouse of a US Citizen) visa ? I know that Petitioner's birth certificate is required in IR-5 (Parent of US Citizen) and F-4 (Brothers-Sisters of USC). But I am not sure in CR-1 case......

2: How many photocopies (One or Two Photocopy sets) are required by NVC when sending Original Documents with DS-230 ?

    Please clarify.

1st petitioners Birth certi is not required... u can send in a photocopy of ur passport and a copy of US naturaliaztion certificate... that would do the work...

2nd for DS230 u will need to send in an original and a photocopy... of the packet... and for the photocopy part make sure u mark it as a "COPY".

    hope it helps

  4. Hi I'm filling my ds 230 i have few questions

1- I dont have any maiden name , should I put n/a or leave it blank ?

U can leave it black... since lots of people dont have middle names... and putting N/A will not hurt either...

2- my email doesn't fit the given space , is okay if few words go outside the line ?

Yes that is okay... im sure u are using black pen... and print everything clearly...

3- full name in native alphabet ? What do I put here ? My name in Urdu ?

if Urdu is ur mother tongue... then u write it in urdu...

4- question 33 , name of schools and college , the dare format is from/to ( mm-yyyy) , so will it be like 05-2003 or some other way ?05-

    yes 05-2003 is perfect

  5. Hello, I filed forms I-130 for my wife and step-daughter. They both have been approved, USCIS June, 2-2011. Sent to NVC, I called NVC today June 14, 2011, they have not got anything as of today. How long does it normally take for NVC to get information from USCIS. I can call USCIS, they only tell me to wait 30 days before I can do anything about it. I need help.

Yup u have to wait 20 Business Days... but give it sometime... usually they will have the file in the mail room but not yet put in the system...

i would say call every other day...

  6. Well the exams went VERY well! I had such a bad migraine on the drive back home going all out on my pharmacology exam I BARELY made it home. Feeling much better now. Nursing school is TOUGH! lol

I am also glad to report there have been two early March Filers that have recived approvals today. One at 92 days and the other at 90 days! Looks like CSC is still working! :)

U guys will be very very lucky if u get ur NOA2 with 120 Days... Nothing like we July/August 2010 filers went through... glad to see CSC finally got their S**T together and finally doing things right and fast(Fingers Crossed)...

  7. I thought that every Indian speaks English , except those who live in the slums ; but , watching slum dog millionaire movie, even those in the slums speak English too.

U asked the question and u answered it ur self... ITS A "MOVIE"

The interviewing officer has a american accent which is tough to understand when u are interviewing... on top of that ur already nervous during the interview... what is u dont understand the question correctly and answer something else... so its better to opt of a translator during the interview...

  8. The Consulate will be prepared to interview in any of the common local languages or in English. No need to request a translator in advance unless there's some special circumstance like only speaking French when interviewing in India etc.

    Thanks...

I am pretty sure that they have Hindi available. I would not be surprised if they had Gujarati translators available as well.

I know for a fact that they have signs at the consulate in Mumbai written in 2 languages, English and Hindi. I believe I have read and heard about signs in Gujarati as well.

If you could please post back here after you or your spouse's interview I would really appreciate it.

I will let u know... my wife is gonna go talk to an agent today and i asked her to find out about that...

  9. Hi,

Thank you so much for perfect reply. I will follow this I hope this will work out for me.

I have another question too. I m using co-sponser as a my sister and filled out I-864A. Do i summitte any document that prove our relationship as brother and sister? we are living in same household and same address.

no u dont need any proof of ur relationship... but make sure u send in a photocopy of her US passport... proving that she is a citizen of US... Front and Back will work...

  10. waiting for reply form anybody....

U will need to apply at ur local police station first... then when u get a certificate from ur local police station...

u will have to submit that certificate with a form to the regional passport office... in order to get ur PCC

Here is some past PCC topics

  11. I am going to keep my expletives down... lol Always something extra has to be done! :bonk:

This is what I am having her do...

I am having her file for her LOCAL PCC now. She will send me a certified copy or original copy if she obtains more than one to me here in the USA.

I will use this Local PCC to submit with my paperwork with DS-230 (IV) Packet. I will state in the IV packer that this is LOCAL PCC and Passport PCC will be submitted in the interview. This is to keep processing going and not have to wait for an RFE. I believe this is what you did Jig.

As soon as she gets her interview letter, she can go to issuing passport location (Ahmedabad) and take LOCAL PCC and interview letter and obtain Passport PCC. This is the process I have seen many of us Indian filers have to go thru and it works fine.

Let me know if you did something diffrent...

Also, where is the PCC application? Is this something she will find at the passport issuing location?

Hi Dave... i actually sent my originals in to NVC... not certified copies... just to be on the safe side... and i didnt want them to send me an RFE for that...

but u can mention in ur cover letter that u will submit PCC at the embassy on the day of the interview... and that is fine...

i dont know about baroda but in Anand they asked my wife to show them the RFE... otherwise they wont issue her a local PCC...

i think every district has different set of rules...

  12. Thought so. Thanks for the reply.

lately they are slowing things down at mumbai embassy due to infrastructure issue...

currently they are only operating 12-13 windows only to issue Visa... therefor its taking such a long time to get visa dates...

but US will be opening a brand new Consulate in Bandra Kurla area... where they are expecting to have atleast 35-40 interview windows...

once this opens up they are estimating that it will take anywhere between 2-3 weeks for an interview...

they are planning to open it by the end of the year...

  13. for getting a pcc from passport office you have to submit a local police clearance to the passport office along with ur pcc application .

dave my wife had to do the same thing too...

    local PCC and passport PCC...

  14. I am waiting on Police clearance certificate (PCC) . I paid both AOS($88) and Packet-IV ($404) fee. At this time should I wait for the Police clearance certificate (PCC) to arrive before sending both the packets or I can send the packets without the Police clearance certificate (PCC) with the cover letter as "I am waiting for it" . So the process continues and once I get the PCC I can send that? What should be more effective to make use of this time while I am waiting on Police clearance certificate (PCC)?

    Joggerspark...

its up to u if u want to wait to send everything in...

personally i would send in the AOS packet since u have everything u need on it...

and then once u have ur PCC then send in ur DS230... otherwise they will review ur DS230 then issue u an RFE... either way...

u will have to wait for SIF...

    so its ur choice...

  15. Hi Guys...

Im really confused... even though we submitted everything all the originals at NVC...

My wife keeps telling me that she will have to submit things at VFS and she will need to go there...

i asked her where she heard this from and she said from an immigration agent back in India...

i told her there is nothing more needed and we don't need to go to VFS to submit anything because we don't have anymore documents to submit...

im really confused... from asking other members on VJ I think she might be referring to go and pay for courier fees... for the passport to be sent back to her once the interview is done...

we are going to Mumbai Embassy... and i know that Mumbai Embassy does allow for the visa's to be personally picked up in the evening time...

so my question is do we still go and pay the shipping fees...

any recent interview at Mumbai might help clear things up....

    thanks

  16. hmm..i have not done yet I-864,230..even my husband asking me about PCC..i am just keep telling him just wait.

I see that ur trying to get PCC for ur wife early... have u already applied for it...

my wife got hers in Anand (GUJ) the officer at the police station would not issue one till they see a checklist letter from NVC... so we had to send in our DS230 and wait for a freaking RFE... this in total took an extra 2-3 weeks of our time...

i read on here earlier that others from india got their PCC based on the internet print out and a print out of visa fees page with barcode...

  17. Interview date assigned... but case is still not shipped out from the NVC...

I emailed Mumbai Embassy for an early interview date... but they said they don't have the case in their system...

so i called NVC today and Case is still with them... they have no idea when they will ship it out...

i asked them if i can request them to ship it out but we cant do that either...

it is up to them... whenever they decide to ship it out i guess...

this really sucks because Mumbai embassy has few slots open in June due to some cancellation and date changes and they cannot do anything till they get the case in hand...

    This is so frustrating...

  18. Hello All,

Please who so ever have their case completed (or know about it) at Mumbai (Previously known as Bombay) consulate in India , share your experience about the need of Academic Original at the time of the interview. My spouse is getting ready for the consulate interview part of the process. My spouse doesn't have 2 of the original Academic Original (Mark sheets as known in India). My spouse has the plain photocopies of the same. Do we must have the originals or its not so important.

    Thanks

First of all are u applying for a Student Visa or a Spouse Visa CR1...

if it is for a spouse visa then no academic documents are required...

  19. Alright finally got the interview date... so the speech ohh the speech "We schedule interview date only during 2nd week of the month" goes out the window... Thanks saylin on that...
