ameribrit got a reaction from denniam in "The above petition has been approved, and forwared to the listed consulate."
    You have got, London listed as your consulate, so you may be interested in these threads;
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/264972-shortcuts-when-checking-for-updates-from-the-nvc-and-dos/ That will give you the phone numbers to call once your case gets to NVC. As soon as your case leaves NVC then DOS will track everything from there on out. In other words there is no need to call the London consulate directly.
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/250067-between-noa2-and-interview-2010/ This is a good one to show you how to prepare between now and your interview.
    Hope that helps

ameribrit reacted to Nich-Nick in Can a green card holder travel and still obtain citizenship?
So he got a greencard dated Jan 2013. He will be eligible for citizenship Jan 2016 of he remains married to you. Exact date will be the date on his greencard plus 3 years. He may apply 90 days before that date, but if they processed really fast, he still can't take the oath until after that eligibility date. If he doesn't remain married to you, he would be eligible in Jan 2018.
Travel--- he can travel anywhere, anytime and return using his greencard. If he were to go off for a year, he could lose his greencard unless he applied for a reentry permit. Just google reentry permit to get the details. There's a lot of ifs, ands, buts to it but basically don't take off for a solid 6 months or more without checking the requirements for return.
So then there's citizenship. If he was out of the country for an extended period of time it is deducted from his three years to be a citizen. So for example if he spent all of 2014 in the UK, that year might not count toward his three years residency and might push his citizenship out to 2017 because of his extended absence. Many details and exceptions so if you want to know more than the general concept, read it here at USCIS http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=399faf4c0adb4210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=399faf4c0adb4210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD
Short tourist trips have no effect, which is what I think you want to know.

When was your medical? It takes a few days for them to get the blood tests back from the lab. If they still have your medical file, they can correct it before sending to the embassy, as well as mail you a corrected copy. For the embassy, if you applied in your correct name on the DS- forms, it will likely be fine. You will be there with your birth certificate and passport in hand to show the correct spelling. Much better than calling the embassy line, which is in Scotland, and can't actually see most of your info or make changes. Meanwhile they charge £1.23/minute for the privilege of getting no help from them. You can check on it at the interview to make sure your visa will be issued with the correct spelling. A clue will be what name is on your interview letter.
The mistake was made by USCIS, unless the actual petition had a typo. Do you have a copy? Your fiancé can call the USCIS, insist on a Tier 2 person, and ask that a correction be made in the records and that they send a corrected NOA2 since it will be part of your adjustment of status documentation to send in. The embassy is part of the Dept of State and barely a kissing cousin to USCIS, so go back to USCIS to check on where the error started. The Dept of State/embassy generally won't be able to fix things at USCIS.

Intend to marry within 90 days of arrival
Met in person within last 2 years
That's it. You don't have to prove you are in love. Send that petition with the photos you already have. London will look at those and be happy.

As far as removing conditions after 2 years, this is irrelevant.
As for citizenship, there is a certain requirement. You have to have been physically present in the US for at least 18 months in the past 3 years, and not have been out of the US for more than 6 months at a time. So you'd be fine to take those vacations :-)

Your wife is a US. She DOES need to file taxes on her UK earnings. As I said no matter where in the world she lives and works she MUST file taxes yearly, unless she doesn't earn any income at all (no US income ANY income at all).
You have verified that you wife has worked. She will need to file taxes in the US. She will file the exemption form for the overseas income so she won't need to pay tax on it, but she DOES need to file. I think you must have misunderstood them and they say she doesn't need to pay tax on it but she DOES need to file.
Here is proof she MUST file: http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/international/article/0,,id=97324,00.html especially this part:
Here is info from the IRS on the exclusion (exclusion from paying, not from filing): http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=108276,00.html
Here's some other random links verifying she MUST file, regardless of where she lives:
    - http://www.taxmeless.com/IRS593Publication.htm
    - http://blog.dangerzonejobs.com/managing-your-contracting-career/why-americans-working-overseas-should-file-a-us-tax-return/
So, have your wife file her back taxes and she will be fine. SHE earned money so she MUST file. If she hadn't earned money, or hadn't earned enough (to meet US requirements for a minimum) then she would show proof of her low income.

If you have no way of getting your medical records then ask your GP to give you a tDap booster jab and the mmr jabs. Depending on your age that should be good enough. Do make sure that you get these done before the medical though because it would be an expensive hassle to get them done on in the USA and get a civil surgeon to sign off on your paperwork. Get your Jabs done in the U.K. and you won't have that hassle.

I have seen other people post other methods so I am sure you will get more replies.

You can forget the ongoing relationship evidence. LONDON does not ask for it or look at it if you bring it. Really, really and truly, they don't. Ever. Here's my list:
Advance preparation for the London part of the K1 process
When your NOA2 is near, it’s a good time to start your preparation.
    Petitioner:

Order your tax transcripts. Only the most recent tax return is required, but you can order three years at a time for free from the IRS. Tax transcripts are summaries of your whole tax return provided free by the IRS. They can't be faked because it's a copy/summary of your whole tax return picture, basically certified by the IRS because it's issued by them. That's why you don't have to include any 1040, Schedules, W2s or 1099s if you send a transcript. They are free from the IRS. Transcripts take the place of sending a complete tax return.
If you call 1-800-908-9946 (the transcript line) , there is an automated system for ordering transcripts. You'll have to enter your Social Security number and the numbers of your street address. It will generate an automated request to mail your transcripts. You can also order online on the IRS website http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=232168,00.html
Start filling out the I-134 Affidavit of Support. It will have to be signed and mailed to the UK the slow way. Get familiar with the form. When the NOA2 is received is a good time to finalize it with the supporting documents and get it in the mail.

    UK beneficiary:

Get some passport photos taken. You will eventually need
2 US sized for the Embassy
1 UK sized for the police certificate
1 either size for the visa medical exam.
(and for AOS in the US, 6 more US sized photos)
Go to your NHS doctor and get the immunizations you will need for Adjustment of Status. You can get a K1 visa without having any shots, but you will need them before AOS. It’s really wise to take care of it before getting to the US. Many NHS doctors will do them for free, but they are not obligated to do so for immigration purposes. If you had theses shots as a child, Tdap/Td must be no longer than 10 years ago or you have to do them again. Get the shots documented by your doctor to take to your visa medical exam. Here’s the shots needed for 19 through 59 years of age:
Td or Tdap - Maybe not available in the UK, so get DT, DTP or DtaP and it will be accepted for AOS
MMR (if born in 1957 or later) Get a second shot 4 wks later if you have time
Varicella – Not routinely given in the UK but have seen reference to it being available; a history of having chickenpox excuses you from the shot. They take your word for it at the visa exam.
Influenza - During flu season only, October 1 through March 31. This was a new recommendation dated November 2010 for all ages over 6 months. Older lists will say flu shots for over age 50. It changed.
Order your police certificate. It takes some preparation because you need a passport photo signed off on by somebody officialish who’s known you two years. Here’s the application. Read the instructions. A police certificate is good for 12 months. Must take it to medical exam. http://www.acpo.police.uk/documents/Application_Form.pdf
Look at your passport and make sure it will have 8 months remaining after visa issuance. If not get it renewed now.
Study the list of original documents London wants you to bring to the embassy and get those in hand or ordered. http://london.usembassy.gov/interview_documents.html

Ok, I'm going to see if I can offend everyone in one post...
All men everywhere will do stupid things for pretty girls. This character flaw isn't exclusive to American men. However, most American men are not as gullible as many Filipinas seem to think they are. In many cases, these guys know darn well that these girls don't really love them. He might only want a sex toy who will treat him like she loves him for a few years. Most of the time, they're just hoping she hangs around and plays nice until he either dies or gets tired of her. Many times these guys go into these relationships knowing that it isn't going to last more than a few years. The sad truth is that many East Asian and Pacific Island girls don't age very well. They're adorable when they're young, but start to deteriorate rapidly when they hit their mid 20's.
...Jim ducks while the Filipinas start throwing kitchen utensils at him...
This isn't really any different from rich old men in the US who marry young trophy wives. These guys know that these girls marry them for their money. As long as the girl acts like his wife then they're generally ok with that. If she does anything to humiliate him, like fooling around on the side, then the relationship is over.
A lot of the men who go to the Philippines are average looking older men with average incomes. These guys wouldn't have a prayer of getting a young trophy wife in the US, but it doesn't take nearly as much to get a young wife in a poor country. There are several reasons this happens a lot in the Philippines. For one thing, the country has a long and sordid history of sex tourism, like many Southeast Asian countries. For another, there's no strong cultural aversion in the Philippines to older men marrying younger women, especially when there's a financial advantage for the bride.
Obviously, the above doesn't apply to everyone. There are many many relationships which are genuine and sincere on both sides. I'm just saying that not all of the guys who are getting played are totally unaware of it. In many cases, they're playing each other.
