I have no life outside my fiance either. I don't sit here, happy as a clam BECAUSE he's not here. I am miserable without him. However, I refuse to let one thing get me down.
I would rather find hope and be happy because I've found my love.. that focus on being miserable without him. Its hard. We all know this. But I just choose to be happy about other things, like the fact that once he's here, he will never have to leave!
The glass is halfway. Its not 100% full and happy. But it can be easier to deal with if you choose to focus on the better parts. Nothing in life is perfect. But almost everything has a positive part to it if you LOOK for it.

I have been waiting to be with him for over two years. So three more weeks? Yeah, I'll be saying the same thing.
Even if it takes 6 to 6 1/2 months... I'm still glad it takes MONTHS and not YEARS. Even if it took three years, I'd be glad it didn't take ten years.
'Reasonable amount of time' is relative. I find 5, 6, 7 months to be reasonable if it gives me the rest of my life with the person I love. Even ten years is better than twenty years.
Sorry guys, but no matter how long it takes, my glass is always half full. Nothing is goin to change that.

just an observation . . . there is no need to make condescending comments when offering advice. A simple 'if you haven't done so yet, read the instructions in the I-134 form, which are also pinned at the top of the Embassy and Consulate forum. You will find all of the answers you need there' is sufficient.

Because it would be unfair to those who could not afford it. This isn't one of those situations in life where you can throw more money at it to make it better. Everyone pays the same amount, everyone receives the same service.
Not everyone gets to travel much internationally, either. This forum is full of people who haven't seen their loved ones in countless months due to financial restrictions.
People seem to forget that VJ is a very, very small sample size of how many Visas are applied for every month. In the long run, 5-6 months isn't that bad at all.
What I don't understand is the people who read up on the process, decide to go with it, understand that it will take awhile ... and then, once they're in the middle of the process, complain that it's taking a long time.
Write all the angry letters you'd like. Unfortunately it won't get you anywhere.
I don't think there's anyone here who thinks the system is fine and is loving their wait. There are simply people who realize it is what it is and you have to pick and choose your battles. There are some things in life that you simply cannot change, government bullsh*t is one of them. So you can spend your time waiting, hating every second of it and kicking up a storm because things aren't going your way, or you can simply wait and try to make the best of it. Accept what you cannot change and live your life.

What a great opportunity to say something unpopular!
According to the latest census, there are currently about 310,828,691 people living in the US. Although the Census doesn't tell you how many of those are of Russian descent (if this is what rocks your boat), it's fair to assume that there are more potentially suitable spouses for you than you can possibly check out in your lifetime.
The US Government does not regulate who you can marry, as long as it's a human being (no space robots, no animals) of the opposite gender. What you asked the US Government (not the State) for is to import yet another foreigner from a country that was the US's largest enemy for a very long time, shortly after a Russian Spy ring was exposed.
It is only reasonable for a government, any government, to secure its country's borders and make sure that no unauthorized aliens can enter it or live with it. The US Government takes this mandate very seriously.

It won't be the same anymore? I think that speaks of deeper issues rather than just unhappiness with USCIS. Yes, it's a garbage process and doesn't work nearly as smoothly as it should for the amount of money we pay for it ... but we're all working towards the same goal and that's to be with our loved ones.
Personally, as soon as I get my Visa in hand, I won't give two craps about USCIS. Yes, I'll still have to deal with them for my AOS but who cares? I'll be home in the US with my love.

I think that over the years, Hollywood has given the impression that if you marry an American, you're automatically entitled to come to/stay in this country. I have talk to many people that think this is true and asked me why I didn't just marry my fiancée in the Philippines and bring her here on a plane when I returned from visiting her.

This is INCORRECT. You need to enter the USA within 6 months of the K1 visa issuance. You need to marry within 90 days of entry into the USA. Please don't post stuff if you're not absolutely sure...other "anonymous" folks read this site too.

I have seen many people come on this site feeling helpless after a heartbreaking disappointment either from a denied petition, complications, or just trying to prepare for what’s ahead. In their quest for directions, I have observed people kick them while they were down. I have observed mockery. I have observed sarcasm with disrespectful intentions. I have observed bullies and I have observed disrespectful tones either in response to the OP or a participant’s comment.
Just before you make a comment, bear in mind this site is rich in diversity, and you can’t use your own cultural exposure to judge others’.
It is ok to introduce some humor but let it be to cheer up the OP/participant(s) and not to mock. If you have nothing respectfully constructively to say, please, don’t waste your time commenting. We are all adults already married or about to, so, please, show some class.
It is ok to disagree as there are always different perspectives to an issue. If you want to hide behind your computer and be rude …take that sh*t somewhere else where you can “freelance” as much as you want.
Adjust that Attitude! A bunch of words is more than enough for the wise!

MY GOD Gary and Alla ... can't you ever say anything nice or do you have to be so judgmental and harsh MOST if not all of the time... who died and made you the KING of perfection? People are a member of Visa Journey so that they can seek out help and maybe a little support.. we are not looking for condescending attitude! Yes, I am a firm believer that "if the shoe fits, then wear it" but FGS lighten up just a little for ONCE as if you haven't ever been in a pickle... and egospiers, GOOD LUCK in your Journey and for what its worth... enjoy that Baby when he/she arrives in this cruel world!

In all fairness, that IS a little harsh. We don't know the circumstances of why his fiancee got pregnant. Birth control isn't 100% and it's unreasonable to assume couples who are careful would abstain from sex just because of a 1% chance. However, like I said, we don't know the circumstances so it's best just not to judge at all.

The filing fee for the I-129F (a petition, not a visa) is now $455 but will be $340 beginning November 23. The visa application fee paid later, abroad is currently $350. A petition is not a visa or a visa application. Don't confuse the two.

We knew we wanted to get married and spend the rest of our lives together.
We met in person and knew that we would be married and spend the rest of our lives together.
Now it's up to the government to allow that to happen in the US.

I see a lot of 'touches' from the Vermont Service Center and none to very few from the California Service Center. What does this mean??? Either Vermont is kicking butt and taking names and California is sitting on their hands, or Vermont just tends to log when they do something to a petition and California does not have batteries for their scanners.
As a general rule, a 'touch' doesn't really mean much of anything. Someone may have moved your petition from pile 'A' to pile 'B' or to a box in a storage area. The only thing that matters is when a decision has been made and you receive your NOA2. Some people have arrived in the US, adjusted their status and still show as in initial review on the USCIS site. Your mileage may vary.
    Good luck on your journey.
