Casprd got a reaction from Mike E in proxy marriage
I think people are confusing the confusing a proxy marriage with a religious marriage where the couple are together and get married in a church or temple but don't file the papers. A proxy marriage is completely differnt and by definition is not a "real" marriage, because one person is not present. As long as the country where it occurs does not recognize the proxy marriage as legally binding. then it could very well serve the purpose you are intending it to serve. In the US, some states recognize it but the marriage would have to take place in that jurisdiction for it to be an issue. The previous poster who did this in Russia is a good example and I would imagine Ukraine is very similar. First thing is to check in Ukraine to see if this is allowed and if it is considered as a legally binding marriage.

Just go in to the exam with a confident attitude and everything will be fine. I think as others have said that it is just a routine thing so shouldn't be a big deal. Just another step in the process. Good luck.

This thread (and forum in general) are really not the appropriate place for you to profess your undying love for your wife. I can appreciate your feelings and God knows how much I miss my wife, but the thread is about a petitioner who was denied for their age difference and people are responding with advice to her. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish with these but typing like a 12 year old isn't going to convince anyone of the sincerity of your relationship, not that you have to convince us since it is the immigration officers that must be convinced. Please keep the thread to dealing with the OP's issue and save these for your private chats.

Unfortunately the VO's seem to make their decision before they even have the interview. Have you considered getting a visa immigration specialist in Egypt involved? The one's I have talked to in China are very specifically focused on what goes on at the Guangzhou consulate so everything is tailored to meet the requirements there. Your looking at a long drawn out process. Hang in there.

    1. Sounds to me like they lost the forms. If it was filled out incorrectly they would ask you to correct that.
    2. I suggest just asking her to print out the form, sign it and you fill it out as you see fit. Just ask her to FedEx it. It might be the more expensive option but it's the fastest.

Do not waste time figuring out how USCIS screwed up. That does not solve the problem.
Since you have copies, just comply with the RFE and move on.

Although it was not required, we've 'front load' all supporting docs and we were approved with no RFE. It sure will not hurt but make sure you'll only send copies of them as you'll need them at the interview stage.
    Good luck on your journey!

Casprd reacted to canadian_wife in Why does embassy deny visas when the NVC approves petition?
The 1st ammendment proctect the right of the US citizen to petition the government. Which is what USCIS does with the petition, then the petition is sent off to NVC to verify documents, check financials, etc. Then the petition is sent to the consulate
The consulate decides where the visa is issued. There is no right for a visa to be issued, only that the US citizen may petition for one
    Good luck

Casprd got a reaction from yachachiq12 in Expedite due to work reasons
There are many cases where a mother in law is denied a visitor visa to come and "help" with a new baby as this is seen as providing child care services which are generally paid for. Volunteer work is generally allowed, but what you are talking about isn't volunteer work. While it may not cause any problems with her status, as many others have said, it is not in any way grounds for an expedite. Unfortunately the OP seems to be looking for the answer that he wants to hear rather than the answer that is correct.

The information about the congressional inquiry is a bit misleading. I don't think that is applicable for your petition. Likewise, the infopass info is a bit misleading as you always have he right to make an appointment for information. You just may not get any good information.
what you can do is have your congressman or senators office make a request. There is a liaison in their office that specifically deals with immigration issues. I would go to your senators website and look there. They will have either a form or a link to a form that is the authorization for them to make an inquiry on your behalf. Fill this out and fax it to them and then follow up with a call the next day to explain everything. Their liaison will then call the USCIS and get an official response (which will be similar to what you were told). But it at least gets the ball rolling and the liaison will likely tell you to give it 30 more days at which time you already have them involved so you can follow up and hopefully get better results.

I am an operations manager and I run a shift, so I cannot network.
Either way I hope I can get a date before my second job training starts, so I can try to take time off.

The AOS package is usually sent in first, so that is not your problem. The IV bundle (DS-230 and documents) should include these and any other applicable documents.!
    IV Coversheet
    IV Fee Receipt Marked PAID
    DS-230 Part signed and dated
    DS-230 Part 2 unsigned
Birth Record ( translated, notarized and certified)
Police Record ( translated, notarized and certified)
Divorce Record if applicable (translated, notarized and certified)
Marriage Certificate ( translated, notarized and certified)
Current Passport Biographic pages for your wife.
2 current passport photographs for your wife.
    GUZ P-3 Supplemental Information sheet
You will also need to include any other records such as military, adoption and other civil records if they are applicable in your case! These documents will also have to be translated, notarized and certified!
    Good Luck, Robby

You'll want to check with the consulate, if he's not specifially being interviewed they may not let him in. I mean I could have brought my dad to the interview so the CO could ask him about our relationship, but obviously he wouldn't be permitted in now would he?

Casprd got a reaction from pumpkinseed in about to file adjustment of status but i have been using a face social security number for 5 months. Trouble??
To answer your basic question, yes it will be trouble. Not only with immigrations, but now you have committed tax fraud and potentially identity theft, not to mention fraud against your employer (don't be surprised if they throw you under the bus rather than take the rap for hiring someone illegally). Even if you didn't say you were a USC, the employment application probably asked if you were allowed to legally work in this country
Bottom line is yes it can come up and there is nothing you or an attorney can do about it. Even if you somehow sneak past the adjustment of status, things like this don't go away and it could be years down the road when it catches up with you. Maybe you'll be lucky and it will be after the statute of limitations runs out on the IRS and identity theft problems, but it never runs out for immigrations stuff. The whole "of good moral standings" comes in to play and by using a fake social security number you have not lived up to this.
As for the "anyone can have the same name as me" part, that just doesn't fly. The chances that someone has the same ssn that you used and the same name are zero and yes your name is certainly in the system now.
Now for the preachy, it's too late but I'm going to say it anyway part of my post. Money being tight is no excuse. the fiance(e)/spouse visa process is not cheap and anyone who enters in to this should and generally does know it ahead of time.
Advice. Not really anything you can do but ride out the process and live in fear of being deported for the rest of your life in the US, or start making plans for you and your husband to move to your homeland and make a life there.

The system is what it is because so many people have taken advantage of it. Every time someone comes on a tourist visa and gets married then adjusts status and stays, it adds another rung to the ladder that those of us who follow the rules have to climb. I think the only way that will change is if they change the laws so you can't adjust from a tourist visa. Be that as it may, as others have said, all you can do is wait and try again. I will however disagree that the invitation letter harms your case. Everyone I know who has had a relative come to visit has sent an invitation letter. Likewise people who have come on tours get invitation letters from the tour company. The invitation letter, if well written can help and certainly won't hurt.

I suggest that once you become a citizen, you submit a I-130 for your mother. Perhaps in a dozen years she will be approved to come here. It is sad that so many are denied visas. This is because so many have come here on tourist visas and business visas and never returned to their homeland. It just makes it harder for others seeking to just visit.

No problem, but heed my advice about having SOLID proof of an on-going, legitimite relationship at the interview stage. The Consulate may want to see more proof than normal of your intent to immigrate for marriage.
This means more than 1 trip to see each other, differing photographs of the 2 of you together during different visits, letters from family and friends certifying the relationship, emails, phone records, etc...
Be prepared and you'll be fine.
