I'm agreeing with this. I sat and watched 4+ hours of people being denied in Phnom Penh. About 5 out of 30 interviews that morning passed. 90 percent of k-1's were denied.
The interviewing officer will be able to tell right away looking at the picture's if it was a wedding or engagement. They know the culture very well and will see that as a red flag. I don't know your age but since you brought up that law, If there's an age gap. They will really scrutinize her at the interview. They may see it as trying to skirt around that law. A question may be asked 3 times in different forms just to see if the same answer is given. If you're dealing with the Cambodian government, money talks. With the U.S. Consulate, you better have your stuff straight.
If you have the money. Being there at the interview will help support the case. You would have time to gather more evidence. (Pictures, receipts etc) It might be an up hill battle if you're not prepared.

As Loto would say. Patience. I've learned to be very patient and accept things as they are. Our government is not perfect and will never be but the fact that we have the right to go through this process is already more then many governments can say or do. The doors are still open in the United States but there is a process we all have to go through. This isn't the developing nation of the industrial age anymore. Six months is definitely better then a year and a year is better then two years. After the five month date has passed, you do have the option to contact your congressman or women or senator and give them hell about why your case is still not moving. I think the frustration lies in not being able to simply pick up a phone and call to see what's the hold up. The fact that many of us paid a fee to have our petitions considered, reviewed and approved but unable to even know where in line do we stand and how much longer until we get that one piece of paper that makes it all worth the wait until we have to wait again for the NVC to start and then the interview from there. As much as we want time to fly we must learn to have some patience.
I liken it to making an order at Mcdonalds or some other fast food place. We as consumers want our food right after we pay the cashier. When it starts taking more then five minutes I start wondering what the heck is going on back there. Sometimes I ask and sometimes I just tell myself not to go there again. Sometimes they tell me their waiting for my fries which I'm fine with and sometimes it seems like they focus on the drive thru more then the customers inside of the store just to keep it moving.
I've learned to just give the benefit of the doubt. I don't know if that person has had a bad day or what type of stress they might have had recently. I don't really care but I won't complain unless it's something that way totally out of line. I know some people may not have as much patience and that's fine, we're not all the same. In the end I get my food and I book out of that place.
I've read that the wait times used to be much longer then six months. The process used to take over a year. I went through the craziness myself relying too much on the "estimated" approval times. After a while I just said fk it and let the process take it's place. Soon my wife will be here and I won't have to deal with this again. Until then, it's playoff football and work and planning to show my wife sea to shining sea.
Loto said patience.... so patience my friend..
