I'll second what others have said, that most States have some sort of organization who helps with situations like yours with little or no charge.
I'm afraid I only know what's in California, since that's where I live. Here they have a program called AIM, which is specifically aimed at pregnant women without health coverage.
But any State you live in must have some public/semi-public/charity organizations to help you through. Do your research and stay positive! I'm sure you'll find help.

The thread has long derailed from the OP's actual story and people are being consumed into arguments and counter-arguments to prove who is right and who is wrong (on a topic that is completely unrelated to the OP's situation).
My suggestion is that we all take it down a notch, censor ourselves from engaging in further debates and arguments, and just wish the OP good luck in making up with her husband. Since all has been said and the OP has followed a course of action that most of us originally favored anyway, there is nothing else left to say in this thread, other than to hope that all goes well for this VJ couple.
Also, it's good to remember that each case is different. Yes, some marriages are sadly entered into with the purpose of fraud, so of course it can happen, but this still does not apply to the majority of cases, and OP's story definitely doesn't seem to be a case like that. The fact that something bad happened to us is of course sad, but it's worth remembering that this does not mean that it is happening or is going to happen to everyone else.

First time I hear W2s were required for ROC. I know they were required for the affidavit of support, but that was because they needed to check we were above the poverty line etc. What's the point now?
I sent a tax transcript for 2011 but for 2012 we had just filed, so I just sent a copy of our complete tax return including all the schedules, but without a W2. I don't see why it's needed anyway. It's the IRS's job to verify our income, but USCIS is only responsible to verify validity of marriage, so how much income one made is none of their business.
Anyway, now that our 2012 tax return has been processed, I will go ahead and order a 2012 tax transcript and keep it just in case we get an RFE.
In my humble opinion, if they really want something and it's important that they have it, it should be clearly stipulated in the instructions. If it isn't clearly stated in the instructions, then people are going to send what is their interpretation of what they're asking for, which is what so many of us did.
Anyway, everyone - let's not freak out about it. Worst case scenario, all of us who didn't send in a W2 get an RFE and we send in tax transcripts and/or a copy of the W2 if it's that essential to them and we then get approved

We're still talking very small numbers, but I feel like the theory above is slowly being confirmed.
I actually just remembered a person I know who naturalized here in Los Angeles last year. She didn't apply until 2 years after her eligibility date (5 year rule), and it took her just over 3 months from application to oath(!!!). She was shocked at the speed of the process and just considered herself lucky when other people were taking 6 months for the same process in the same office. But in retrospect, and knowing what I know now, I can't help wondering if it was due to her being well past her initial eligibility date that made her process go so fast. Of course it will always depend on the Field Office's current workload too, but this is very interesting to observe!

Point of this letter is to confuse you with their bureaucratic rules . Sorry this happened to you.
I wouldn't worry too much though. If it specifically says no evidence is needed for minor traffic violations, then I would just take this letter with me and explain to the officer at the time of the interview. I'm sure it happens to them all the time.
If that makes you feel more comfortable, you may want to consider writing a sworn statement explaining what happened and presenting that at the interview if asked.

If you're going through San Diego office, I can see it being quite slow. I would imagine a lot of cases would be going through them.
The good news is that we're all at the end of the road at this point. We may have to wait another few months to get there, but it will be the last time we have to deal with USCIS, ever :joy:

I think it very much depends on your local office and their workload, as well as (though this is just a suspicion we are all trying to verify right now) the time when you first became eligible - i.e. if you applied very early on in your 90 day window, you may not get an interview until after your official naturalization eligibility date. But if you applied months/years after you became eligible, then you could be interviewed much sooner. Again, this is an unverified suspicion and could be different for each individual case.
But it definitely depends a lot on your local USCIS office too. For example I'm going through a USCIS office that isn't that busy, at least compared to the Los Angeles office that seems to be swamped. Yet still, looking at past threads, I could see that people going through my field office were not getting letters for their interviews for 1.5-2 months after they were first placed in line, with the interviews being scheduled for another month away. So about 3 months from being placed in line to the interview date, give or take.
That is, about a month between filing and doing biometrics, then about 3 months 'till the interview, plus maybe another month 'till the oath ceremony = 5 months start to finish, give or take.

My 2 cents on the topic (that has long strayed from OP's question). That would be my suggestion:
1) Make it easier for whoever wants to migrate to the USA LEGALLY. Implement a system similar to what other countries like Australia and until recently, the UK, are doing: admitting immigrants on the basis of what the country's economy needs by implementing a points-based system. People with a higher education, those in professions or skilled labor of high demand, those with a good command of the language, and those who can demonstrate a decent amount of savings to be able to support themselves once here score the highest points, and are given top priority for entry. Those who don't have the education or professional skills should still be given the opportunity to immigrate here legally as a second priority category, as long as they can demonstrate a clean criminal background and a good moral character, along with sufficient funds to support themselves. (It goes without saying that a thorough background/criminal check needs to apply to everyone). Also, make it easier for employers to hire people from abroad (at US salary levels) if they are facing a shortage of skills domestically, and easier for graduates of US universities to obtain a work permit and stay and seek employment after their studies (without necessarily needing an employer to sponsor them). This way the economy and the country does and will benefit. US immigration needs to stop being so family-oriented and become more economy-oriented. It needs to give people who don't have family ties here, but sincerely want an opportunity at a better life and can add value to the country, the opportunity to do so legally.
2) Once it has become easier for everyone who can demonstrate some marketable skills and ability to obtain gainful employment in the country (along with sufficient initial funds to support themselves) to immigrate legally if they so wish, crack down hard on those who still attempt to get in illegally. Because those are most likely to be the people the country doesn't need - criminals, scams, and so on. Parents or no parents, enforce immediate deportation and entry ban.
Of course this is purely my opinion and many will disagree. I just wanted to add my 2 cents to the debate f what would be a fairer immigration system for everybody.

I'll be applying in the next week or two, and intend to include exactly what is listed in the instructions:
-Application form
-Payment
-2 photos
-Copies of front and back of my green card
-Copy of husband's birth certificate
-Copy of marriage certificate
-IRS transcripts showing joint filing for the last 3 years: 2011, 2012, 2013 (you are now able to request these online and print them out on the spot on IRS' website). I did just that 3 weeks after filing our 2013 tax returns and the transcript for 2013 was already available
Based on the document checklist, no further 'proof of marriage' is needed for citizenship if you have fulfilled one of the 'proof of marriage' document requirements (hence the wording: "send A, OR send B, OR send C" etc). Nothing like removing conditions where they specifically requested a long list of evidence, so I suggest people just follow the instructions.

It loooks fine to me.
Personally, I would omit the section about not having children. Purely having a child with someone doesn't mean you are in an ongoing relationship (they would want to see proof that both parents are equally engaged in the child's life etc.), plus it sounds a bit overly apologetic and it's about an issue/decision that is strictly personal and frankly, none of USCIS' business. If I was writing this, I would keep it strictly focused on the financial co-mingling part.
But that's just my personal opinion and if you really want to leave it in, it's not going to hurt your case.
For what it's worth, our ROC was approved in 3.5 months without an RFE and some of our evidence was less than perfect, but we were approved without problems. My husband and I have been married for over 3 years now, we don't have any kids as of yet, and this was never an issue with USCIS, there were no questions or RFEs about it etc. For what it's worth.

There's no way to know for sure, but it's more likely that VSC took forever to look at your RFE package until they finally did and decided to refer the case for an interview, than the case stalling at your local USCIS office. I'm saying that purely because most VJ members who get notified that their case has been transferred to their local USCIS Office usually get their interview appointment within a couple of weeks, as some other poster also said. So based on that alone, it makes sense that it only got to the Newark Office recently.
My guess is that VSC hadn't looked at your RFE package (or they had, but had put off adjudicating the case) until you put in the Service Request, and then they finally looked at it and decided to forward to Newark. In any event, you should be getting an interview date soon. Good luck!

Yeah, nothing to worry about. Probably a silly USCIS system glitch. It's possible that someone manually updated your online file on the 6th and that's what generated the second update. I too got two identical texts/emails on the day of my approval, a couple hours apart. They both mentioned the same approval date though. Anyway, you will probably get your new card soon, so nothing to worry about

Approval letter received in the mail today .
But unlike the website which says I should receive the card within 30 days, the letter says 60 days
Anyway, at least I have the letter now confirming ROC approval, so even if my card doesn't get here by the time of my trip in 2.5 weeks, I will have the letter with me for additional proof alongside the extension letter and expired 2 year green card. But I'm still hoping the actual card may show up before my trip - fingers crossed!
