  1. The man on the phone told me this could take about 6 months as it is like filing for the first time all over again. He told me that I could get a stamp in my passport which is just as good as having the card and that this is a common problem.

Does anyone know this: in my case where I never received the GC, can I go back to the Indy ASC and get a stamp in my passport? When we were there for the interview in March, the officer said, "Well, I could stamp your pp but if you won't be travelling in the next couple weeks [no] then you might as well wait for the card to arrive."

  2. Sorry to hear the same thing happened to you as happened to me.... I had to wait about 6 months in total from re-filing the I-90 before I got my Greencard... when I went for the new Biometrics I was told there not to expect it before six months from the date of my Biometrics but it came just a few weeks later....

I hope you hear something soon....

Thanks Kezzie. I can't figure out why they don't send such "important" documents registered if they are worried about it getting into someone else's hands?

  3. Thank you for everyoen who posted before me. I am glad I found this thread!

I never received my GC. So, as stated on my Welcome letter, I phoned after three weeks to say I hadn't received it. No problem, I was to wait for at least another couple of weeks. I did.

1 month after I was supposed to receive my card, I called again. This time they had no record of me. I repeated my receipt # -- didn't show up in system. Nothing they could do to help me, call again after 1 month they told me.

Called again. Explained the situation. Told me I had to file a I-824.

I checked online, and saw that the I-824 came with a hefty cost. No Way, I thought. Made an Info Pass appointment in early June.

Very nice woman at Indy office. Gave me the I90 to fill out, highlighted the appropriate sections and off I went. June 14 I mailed the I-90 to Lee's Summit MO. Trusting the information on the News Release that states that there is no fee for I-90 applications submitted with Application Readson "b" -- haha.

July 14 I called the Lee's Summit number. They claimed to have no record of receiving my I-90. When I mentioned that it had been received--I was looking at the confirmation confirmation (date and time) this person passed me through to a supervisor (after another 30 minute wait mind you).

She told me I could expect a 60-90 day wait and that it was unlikely to be approved "because you are saying that we did made the error."

August 17. Today I received my letter saying that my application was denied and like Kezzie, I have to pay the whole amount again and re-file.

I am steaming! This isn't the first "error" I have had to face. Right now my husband and I are seriously contemplating a move to Canada. We are fed up, not to mention broke!

By the way, the Postal official that I spoke to said that the USCIS is notorious for saying they have sent things and will not take any responsibility for this. Man, if the post office is dissing you . . . must be in sad shape.

Next stop is the senator, again.

  4. Hold your horses. You are being way too impatient. There are many people in worse situation than you.

    Yomiakinbowale,

I have found that 'impatience' of a kind is something I should have acted on more than once during this whole process.

My husband and I had our interview in March this year. The officer took my I-94 saying that I no longer needed it because I was approved. Further, because I would be receiving my Permanent Residence card in 2 weeks, I didn't need the stamp on my passport.

Well, one week later I received my Welcome to the US letter. Great I thought, the system has worked nicely for once. However, it also stated that my card would arrive a bit later, in 3 weeks. I was patient and gave it 5 weeks.

I called in 5 weeks and OOPS! no record of me receiving approval. I gave my receipt # and was transferred to another agent (and had to wait an additonal 40 minutes for that call). You will have to be patient, he said, you will receive your card shortly. I was patient and gave it another 4 weeks.

Early June, I still had not received my card. I called again, this time I was advised to fill out an I-824. Okay, easy enough I thought. Downloaded the I-824 and found that I would have to pay an additional $200. Well, I had already been stung by receiving incorrect information and paying sums of money when I needn't have, so I didn't file the I-824. Instead I made an InfoPass appointment in Indy. My patience had run thin.

There I found out via their computer that a PR card had been mailed to me in late March!!! I, of course, never received it. Yes, my address, etc. had remained the same. Yes, I had been vigilant about the mail. The officer in Indy told me I would have to file an I-90. Would I have to pay a fee? I asked. She told me that if I hadn't gone on record and phoned to report that I had not yet received my card that yes, indeed, they would most likely charge me for replacement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

June 12 I filed the I-90 and have heard nothing. I was again patient. Today I phoned customer service and no, they hadn't received my form!! Well, I said, that is strange because I have a delivery confirmation date and number from USPS saying that it was delivered on June 14. I was then transferred again. AFter another long wait, I was told that I would be lucky to hear from them in 90 days and that there is no confirmation or receipt number because basically I was alleging that USCIS had made an error. Then after the 90 day wait for the decision, I could expect another 30-60 day wait for processing the new card.

If I had been less patient in the first place, I would probably not be in this position. Yomiakinbowale, I suggest that you phone the customer service number and politely, yet firmly, ask for clarification. Or, if it is convenient at all, get an InfoPass appointment--on the two occasions I have used this, it seems that I receive much better service and precise information.

I don't like to see anyone else in this situation so I would never advise "be patient" --do something to alleviate your anxiety NOW, so that later, an officer doesn't ask you "why didn't you inform us of this matter in a more timely fashion" and perhaps make things more difficult for you.
