      They may ask for him to be checked at a later time, as the symptoms can mask problems/interfere with the exam. I would check with the place your going to for the exam.

      The physician will ask you how long he has been sick. You can go ahead or postpone it to a later date if you wish. Why not call SLMEC to make sure?
