You're likely right there. Its not in any rule book or law, but it is in bureaucrats mind's that it should be that way. I also know people who never managed to get their name changed after marriage because they failed to enter it in the AOS application, using the maiden name instead. They later corrected the problem and got First name, maiden last name, husband's last name during citizenship. I think this is more an issue of agents of USCIS making up their own rules, rather than following the actual rules.

Had my road test today and I passed!!! Unbelievably happy and relieved. I honestly never thought it was possible I know it sounds weird but it's a dream come true it was a simple test, zero parking except next to a curb. It lasted 17 min but then I spent literally 25 minutes in the car after the test talking to the agent (he was a cop for 30 years) who was super nice and he was just talking about nit picky agents and people who take the test and don't know their left and right, just casual, light-hearted stuff. My husband was freaking out because I was talking to him so long he thought I was arguing with him because I failed. I was SOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!! no more wasting the night having to practice every day. I can finally get a job now and live our life. Just wanted to share that with everyone and good luck/preparation for those getting theirs!

English is not the official language of the United States. That is a fact. No law requires residents or citizens to learn English. The law does require certain applicants for naturalization to pass an English test, but that does not apply to this woman. No law requires assimilation. This woman has done nothing wrong and is fully within her right to apply for naturalization regardless of her reason for doing so.
Many countries requires immigrants to learn an official language... the US is not one of these because it has no official language. Of course an immigrant should learn English. Of course they can contribute more to society if they do learn English. But US immigration policy recognizes that there is a benefit to exempting certain people from these requirements. This policy sees value in reuniting younger immigrants with elderly parents even if those parents aren't going to be able to assimilate or contribute to the economy directly.
This woman has probably been through things that the rest of us only see in nightmares... her very presence in this country is a symbol of the strength of people's desire for freedom and survival. Just by sitting at home and being with her family she probably does more for this country than I ever will.

Hi guys,
The interview was pretty easy, the actual time with the interviewer was about 10 minutes. He was very polite but stern. He commented on our organized our files were and said I made his life easier.
The questions were:
-Where is the statue of Liberty
-Who was the first president
-What movement tried to end racial discrimination
-What is one promise you make when you become a US citizen
-Name two US holidays
-Who is the Governor of your state
I got all 6 right so he didn't ask anymore. They were pretty easy questions. As for the English portion he asked me to read who lives in the white house and the write the president lives in the white house. From the moment I arrived and left was about 30 minutes or less. I was way more stressed out than I needed to be, the only thing he took from me in terms of documents was our 2015 tax transcript since it was not ready when we filed back in February and he only looked at my green card. They said I will get a letter in the mail in a few days to find out the Oath date.
