Exactly what I've been trying to tell Melissa. The schools in this country are simply awful, there's no way round that. Fortunately there are some very good 'private' schools in our area, but that is a bridge we will burn when we come to it.

If expecting decent service makes me an 'elitist' then I'll take the label gladly, cheers. I just cannot fathom why somebody who cannot speak or understand basic English is put in a public facing position. If I had a Scottish or Irish accent, it would be completely understandable, but even Melissa has no problem understanding me so I don't see why somebody whose job it is to work with 'foreigners' should have such issues.
Oh yes, the endless Harry Potter references never get old.

Always with the witticisms elmcitymaven, it's nice to come back to such a warm welcome. But I've never said I hated America or even didn't like it. Quite the contrary actually, the only problem I have with America is all the bloody Americans.
Thanks TBoneTX, I'm sure I'll adapt swimmingly. My trip will start nicely enough at Heathrow which, say what you will, at least it doesn't have security workers whose only goal in life is to feel up my balls. Going back to dear old Blighty will, however, be problematic. I'll have to look into cruise ships I suppose.

Here's how it works with this lot dear. They go through their process and do as much 'complaining' as anybody else. But once they've made it, they forget all about the pain of waiting and being separated. Go back far enough in 'ol Johnny Boy's or Gemmie's history, and no doubt you'll see them doing exactly what they now tell everyone to shut up about. That's how it works here on Visa Journey.

Thanks sweetie. I thought that might be the case. I've seen a lot of the "legacy members" be really rude to new filers and then try to excuse it by saying getting "bitchslapped" was a rite of passage in the UK forum. I don't think it should be. Why can't we be nicer to each other in here, like in some of the other regional forums?

Gemmie and Johnny, I understand what you're saying, and I feel bad for that person who gave up on the process. It's really put a lot of this into perspective for me. We thought about me coming to England many times, but we decided that given some of the problems I had in settling in when I was over there for six months, it made more sense for Julian to come here. We are lucky to have the luxury to choose. I don't forget this. Ever.
But I don't think that what I'm complaining about in terms of comparing my timeline to other people's is any different from what anyone else does here. I have seen SO many people complain EXACTLY how I've been complaining. Why don't I get to do what other people do, every. single. day? Oh wait, I'm complaining again.
Guess I'll go back to wedding planning and not complain anymore if it's not allowed.

You really can't stand that this worked, can you?
You don't like me, you've made that very clear in the past. And it clearly angers you that I was able to make this broken system finally work for me. So you've set your mind to coming up with all manner of explanation as to why, immediately after I involved my MP, I was given an interview date. It's sad really. If I said the sky was blue, you'd jump through bloody hoops to prove me wrong. Well it's cause and effect my dear. I called my MP, he went to work on it, and he solved my problem. That certainly makes a lot more sense than 'I got my interview in this many days, and so did you, so that proves the sky is plaid.'
Come to London my dear, drinks are on me, and you'll see I'm really not as bad as you think I am.

Fancy that, we have an interview date.
I apologise to Jill, I don't yet have documentation signed and sealed by the Queen, but after our afternoon fox hunt together (the Queen and I that is, not Jill and I) she's absolutely knackered. In any case, I think the facts speak for themselves. Had I not involved my MP, we'd still be waiting for some civil servant dullard to finally blow the dust off the pile and do their job.
The unfortunate bit is that they've scheduled it for late October--perhaps this is the spiteful nature of the state employees the very well-connected marlea warned me of? I'll give the ol' state department a ring to see if they can move it up by a few weeks, otherwise it'll be time to open up my little black book again.

If you don't think demanding proof from me is 'unreasonable,' then I expect you to demand proof every time somebody mentions they have been approved, every time somebody says they have filed, every time somebody says they have obtained their medical exam, every time somebody says they made it through immigration, every time somebody called their senator, every time somebody's K1 was approved, every time somebody says they were married, and on and on.
It's up to you to take my or anyone else's word. If you don't think phoning an MP works, then don't do it. But don't bloody well call me a liar. Everybody here is posting their own experiences without having to submit to the burden of providing you proof. I shouldn't have to be any different just because I found a novel way of approaching the problem.
Besides, it wouldn't matter what proof I provided, you'd just shout and rant that I've forged it and thus this only proves that it doesn't work and I'm a liar. There's no winning with your type, and I won't be bothered to even try.

Hear hear! It's time for people to stop trampling on others just because they have decided to take a non-traditional approach. When somebody tries something you didn't think of yourself, it's not your cue to bash them into submission.
Thank you for your support adams.michelle. I hope some others around here will take it to heart.

Excuse me? Where exactly did I say this? My whole 'point' is to help others with an alternative avenue to speed up the process. Quite frankly I'm surprised that I'm the first to think of this.
Anyway, I thought you said you were done posting. Now you're just baiting, which I believe violates the rules. If you have something of substance to share besides 'Julian is just having a go,' then please do share. Otherwise please do as you said you would do earlier, and stop posting here.
This is baiting also. I'll kindly ask you to stop.

Oh yes Jill, my one and only goal here on Visa Journey is to set your inquisitive mind to ease and to finally count you as an ally in my crusade to be loved and adored by the throngs of sceptical UK forum dwellers. As God is my witness, I know without any doubt whatsoever that were I to post a letter from my MP confirming whatever it is you wish this hypothetical document to confirm, that you would instantly come around my side, and that there would be no accusations that I'd made the whole thing up or insistences that the following interview date would be nothing more than coincidence. Yes Jill, I shall get right on this, thank you so very much for the opportunity to make amends.
