  1. oh great, i hope they update tommorow, move this petition to islamabad already please do it now. its been 4 months i am goign crazy

on the lighter note: PSOFT i am looking for a udu dictionary that has the root of the words. LIke where the words came from you know

    1. Pakhana= is made up of PAI KHANA. yanee the room in the back of the house.

sorry i had to use that example. lol

I have no Idea but how many of you know the Urdu history here is some details for you guys. Urdu language came into existence through Persian, Turkish Sinsikart and other spoken Asian languages. In early days people used to called it ‘Language of the Army’

Urdu/Hindi belong to the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European family of languages.

'Urdu' comes from the Persian zaban-e-urdu-e-mu'alla (language of the imperial court), a gloss which gives important clues to its history. Originally it was one of the languages spoken in the Hindi region of India. During the sixteenth century, however, large areas of India fell under the rule of Muslims whose language and culture were predominantly Persian. While the structure of Urdu remained essentially Indian, the vocabulary was greatly influenced by Persian. Urdu spread all over India through administrative structures, army encampments and bazaars.

    For Hafiz,

    Example,

Paeesh NAMAZ. In Persian Paeesh mean (Agay meaning frontline)

    Namaz: (Persian word for Salat)

Paeesh Nameez : who is leading Namaz yani Moulana

In order to find those words get the Urdu dictionary (Lugaat e Urdu or Dibistan e Urdu)

I love Urdu language I think it is family inheritance my father was Journalist, poet, writer and professor of Urdu that is reason I am very much in to it. In my spare times I enjoys to read Urdu literature especially Urdu poetry and Mirza Ghalib, Mir Anees and Iqbal my favoriate poets.

  2. psoft the link is not right

    click2dial.com

Sorry domain is on 'NET' NOT 'COM ..... here u go http://www.click2dial.net/.

Alright PSoft, maybe you can help me with this one too.

I'd love to learn to read/write Urdu, but am having h*ll of a time. What I feel like I need is a video or childrens book or something to show me how to draw the letters. I can see them in the Urdu language books I have, but I don't know how to write them. Back when I was in kindergarten, the teachers showed you how to write the letters, then you copied them down over and over till you figured it out. I tried to find examples on my last trip to Paki, but all my friends kids there were learning only English that way. They didn't understand me wanting to learn Urdu that way... and when I asked them to show me the drew them too fast to grasp...

How did you learn as a kid? Any suggestions where I can find a resource to teach me to write the letters? I had a great Nepali class at Cornell, so I learned Devanagari script. Unfortunately, I haven't found anyone local that knows how to write (let alone speak Urdu). I found several books online, but I don't want to order one and find out it is lousy.

Any online aids or other suggestions?

How 'bout whipping out an animation for me of the alphabet and all the connector letters, etc...?? You and Hafiz have IT backgrounds right? A little Java script??? lol! ;)

    Psoft and Hafiz,

Here's a link to an animation for Devangari to get you started in your coding...

  3. Hey gang on everyone request here is poem for you guys and your SO.

What do I do when I'm alone?

Well, sometimes I sing a little song.

La, La, La, La, La, La.

That is the song I sing.

What do I do when I'm alone?

Well, sometimes I do a little dance.

I jump and I hop, hop, hop.

    That is my little dance.

And sometimes when I'm all alone,

I pretend that I can fly.

And I touch all the clouds and

I wave to the birdies as they pass by.

But, sometimes when I am all alone,

Well sometimes I feel a little sad.

'Cause there's no one to share my song,

No one to fly with me.

So, sometimes when I am all alone,

I think of how happy I would be

If I wasn't alone and you were here with me.

[You know there are lots of things you can do when you're alone.

Yeah, you can write yourself a little poem. Or throw a ball up against a wall.

Yeah, yeah, lots of things but you know what...

I think that lots of times it is nicer to be with somebody else than all alone by yourself.]

So, sometimes when I am all alone,

I think of how happy I would be

If I wasn't alone and you were here with me.

[And you are here with me, so I am not alone and I am happy.)

  4. psoft that link is not good for me, my wife's phone starts with 345 (telenor)

she can send me text messages, but i cant send her nothing. I have tmobile. and that site you gave does not have telenor

Cell phone is too cheap in Pakistan. Ask your wife to change her Cell phone service provider to Mobilink then you can send msgs to her via net. I got T-Mobile too it cost me 15 cents for one international message but I got unlimited international calling that is the reason I don’t do much SMS.

By the way anyone who wants to send money from states to Pakistan I got very good site. I have been using it for years to send my money to my Mom who doesn’t want to live here in US and of course to my wife.

  5. Hi,

Would anyone tell me how long before should I get my employment letter for Affidavit of Support to send to NVC.

Thanks for a great resource and all of your help.

    Sham

Normally big companies takes time in order to issue an employment verification letter if you are working in a company that require a week or so in order to produce a letter then it would be great idea as soon your affidavit of support I-864 generate ask your employer to issue you a employment verification.

As you are going through Islamabad embassy then please join us on calling everyone through Islamabad embassy thread.

    Wish you best of luck.

  6. HI every body,

i need address of nvc on which i will send corrected passport copy and

more important that should i send or wait for, if NVC asks for it(it might waiste my 3 more months.)

so please give me input urgently

    Fooki

Very surprised you don’t have a NVC’s mailing address. NVC didn’t send you return envelope with DS-230?

I am guessing you are using James’s short if you are then use New Hampshire address that is

The National Visa Center, 32 Rochester Avenue, Portsmouth NH 03801-2909

By the way dude why don’t you post in Islamabad thread it seems to me you don’t like Paki (lol)

  7. 2 Days Left :blink::blink:

My wife is having her medical exam today and tomorrow and then it is the day!!!!! Wednesday The interview day!!!! That is when sweat starts to pour, knees start to shake, excitement and confusion builds, heart beat goes so fast you lose your breath and nearly passout, eyes become blurry, and finally forgetfulness sets in right at the moment you need to remember the most :crying: . Oh what a day!!!!! But she will be fine...........COME ON JUNE 7  (get here already...i am tired of waiting  )

    hi Shortie81,

Best of luck with the interview. I believe it will be smooth ride

  8. Australia is in-group ‘F’ with Brazil, Japan and Croatia.

Forgot to write teams and their ranking.

    FIFA/Coca-Cola World ranking

    Brazil 1st

    Croatia 19th

    Australia 44th

    Japan 18th

  9. Is he working currently? I mean doing Business or Job or studying? What is his profession? If he is not working then please ask him to find a job (a very good web site for Pakistani jobs www.workjunction.com)

Just keep in touch with him on daily basis. I don’t know how many folks here in our thread pray five times but SALAT‘ Namaz’ is the very wonderful tool, which gives you a spiritual satisfaction.

In my opinion if someone busy then he/she doesn’t find a time to get frustrate.

He works as a mountain guide, so his work is on, then off. He's trying to stay busy in between trips, working odd jobs where he can, but he often has days that are frustrating and not much to do. I'm urging him to keep busy those days, but he definitely has too much idle time some days. You are VERY right, that when he is busy working he's much better off. I'll ask him about his prayers. I know he is better about them some days too.

Have you found a good online Urdu-English translation site? I'd like for him to be able to write me in Urdu more, but I can't read Urdu script yet. His english is good, but as I'm sure many of you understand, it's easier to express yourself fully in your native language.

    Thanks for your suggestions!!!!

It is my honor to help you out dear sister. By the way here is the URL for a very good Urdu to English dictionary.

    http://urduseek.com/

my husband is going through the same thing. why is it hard for you to call? anyways.

I call my Bingo Everyday. I know he is Spoiled Rotton..lol can you text message your husband?

maybe be interactive with the text messages..

like say stuff like : ' baby where is my car keys I cant find them "

or " baby come pick me up in 5 mins- lets have dinner ok "

sometimes my husband will say to me " shonnie where is my green socks"

this is how me and my bingo communicate!

other things you can do is .. make use of the CAM take sweet pics.

make power point presentations for him! things that make you feel close:)

Shon, are you sending text messages to a cell phone? We tried initially between our phones and found I couldn't get them from him. Did you do something special to set that up? I have Verizon and I asked them and they said it wasn't possible from their network to his. Maybe there is a way I can send them via e-mail to his phone at least. Unfortunately, he doesn't have easy access to a computer. He has to go to a Net Cafe and he hates going - too many young guys smoking, looking at bad stuff and loud, obnoxious music...

I'll take your suggestion to send photos though. I always worry that if I send photos of me having fun here without him it would bum him out, but maybe simple photos at home etc... probably would be o.k.

It's hard for me to call only because I feel so helpless to help him lift his spirits sometimes. sometimes it is easy and I can get him to laugh eventually, other times it just plain sucks. I have it a bit easier - I love where I live and have a great community of friends. He finds it hard to be in ISB right now and has a hard time going to all the places we went together... friends homes, restaurants, etc... cause he just thinks of me the whole time. When I was there, he took me to all his favorite places of course. Now they aren't so favorite - they just remind him we're not together.

Just talked to him this morning and he sounds better... let's hope it lasts. Thanks for your advice.

    Sister,

You can send messages to any mobile phone service provider from web to Pakistan even you guys can chat.

Here is URL to send messages from US to Pakistan. You are lucky if your husband with Mobilink because it is the only company in Pakistan which offer Cell phone chat other only allow SMS.

    Anyway here is URL.

  10. Hey gang,

I need some advice from you all. My SO is having some really tough days. It's hot as can be in ISB, he's miserable without me there, and it just seems so dayum long before we'll be together. It's so hard for me to call and hear him bumming so hard. I just wish I could be there to give him a hug and say, we'll get there. Don't know what to say to keep his spirits up - and the phone can make it seem so far away.

Any suggestions? What has worked for you all? I try not to get frustrated too, as I know that won't help, but it's really hard to hear him so down. Some times it is fine and we both are up and ready for the challenge and the long battle - other times it just seems so desperate. Hardest thing for me is being here and not really able to do a dayum thing over the phone or e-mail.

Any insights from you - esp. you guys??! How have you survived?

Is he working currently? I mean doing Business or Job or studying? What is his profession? If he is not working then please ask him to find a job (a very good web site for Pakistani jobs www.workjunction.com)

Just keep in touch with him on daily basis. I don’t know how many folks here in our thread pray five times but SALAT‘ Namaz’ is the very wonderful tool, which gives you a spiritual satisfaction.

    Importance of Salat.

the most bitter enemy of man; he always tries to disturb the Believer’s prayers. He (the worshipper) finds his mind suddenly engulfed with memories, problems, worries, work and his family… and he will often find himself wondering whether he has prayed three rak`ah or four. This is how Satan steals the prayer. Man was created only to worship Allaah. He says: { I created not the jinns and mankind except to worship me } (Soorah 51:56). Man is to live in this world as a worshipper of Allaah and prayer is the best for of worship. On the Day of Judgement, man will have to answer for his deeds. Allaah says: { Then shall you be questioned about the joy [you indulged in] } (Soorah 102:8)

  11. I was offered a very nice job with one of the leading cell phone companies in Pakistan. The pay was pretty good (according to Pakistani standards). I did not accept it because it would unethical to start the job and leave when my case goes through.

I should have accepted when I came to Pakistan. But I was not aware I would be stuck in Pakistan for so long!

Brother, always remember it is employee’s right to resign from the work any time on the other hand Employer has a right to ‘let the employee go’ any time. It is not unethical practice. It is Global Corporate practice.

Well, you can search the job at this point and start working until you will get the visa because in my opinion I would be great if you have a job then you will be busy once your routine life is set then your depression will be released automatically. So get up and start doing something I got every good website for those who are looking jobs in Pakistan, (www.workjunction.com).

    C H E E R S ………………..

    Hafiz,

Remember my words after 10 years IT gurus in America will start returning to their homelands (Asian countries) because Asian countries will start offering better packages then US firms.

  12. uhmm

The first matter at hand concerning packistan is the Environment!

the water is polluted and the air is polluted too.

the drinking water is being posioned by pesticides and other chemical wastes.

it can only be changed though proper waste management programs, and various systems.

thats whats is killing the people- not the lights..

You don’t know anything about Pakistani political, geographical, religious or environmental issues. It would be good if just keep quite in this matter.

    Pakistan Zindabad.

  15. Saeedeh,

Yes your AR will be shorter because you are Pakistan American. By the way priority date mean 'the date I-130' received by service center and entered into the system

    Experience says:

    - Your husband will get interview date after 30 days of submission of packet 3.5

    - The interview date will depend upon current booking time. I think the current booking time is August (i think someone else can give accurate data on the current date)

    - In my case, i submitted packet 3.5 in beginning of Aug. Got interview date of Dec. which rescheduled for March and again re scheduled for May. i am on AP.

    - remember, all pakistani, muslims, young, males has to go through AP/AR . The shortest period of AP is 19 days while longest is 10 months at ISB.

Just keep your chin up and pray!

    -Dude

I thought you are coming on business Visa. Because in your last posts you asked ‘some business related quarries in Texas’

  16. Hey everyone!

Hope everything is fine with you all.

I applied to sponsor my husband last year from the embassy at Islamabad.

Our I-130 was approved within the six month period they had specified.

And to complete the rest of the paperwork which required domicile-I moved back to the US in March this year.

He sent packet 3.5 to the embassy about 10 days ago. It says that they usually review the papers for two-three weeks and set up in interview within the next few days. Is that true? Does anyone have any idea how much longer I will need to wait before he gets here?

What about administrative review? Does everyone have to go through that.

I would love to hear about anyones experience with this.

The wait is a real killer! :(

    Thanks in advance,

    Regards

    Saeedeh

  17. I think short temper is a common disease these days everywhere including right here in our thread. (If someone suffering from this disease then please takes 40 hours anger management therapy class lol)

I know it is very hot summer in Pakistan but killing someone on minor issues. It is really it is totally unacceptable.

Why do you want to take a break? It is reality brother and we have to face current situation with full of passion rather avoiding reality.
