yes PSOFT i will make sure, FOOKI whats up with you.

I was planning on going to pakistan end of this month, but it seems i am going to wait till that visa goes through. Any guess on when i might get the visa(K3 Of course). Your(everybody on this list) opinion will help me plan my vacation. Thanks

Don’t go right now. Let your wife gets interview appointment then plan your vacations accordingly.

  3. Talked to Rochelle at the DOS. She is one of the nicer ones! But unfortunately she didnt have anything to say either. Case is sitll under administrative processing. Even though no more clearances were ordered. The embassy is just sitting on the case.

Even if they have there visa review meeting it didnt help. I swear I dont know what to do! When is this hell going to end?

I am seriously thinking of just giving up on this immigration stuff, asking my wife to move to Pakistan and just start looking for jobs here.

If I were you I would get a job first try to get settle down and then ask my wife to come over. In that way you won’t feel much about this “VISA SAGA”

Life and Immigration two different ‘streams’ let them roll concurrently

  4. Today, I m down too. In the beginning of June, United States Embassy in Islamabad is scheduling Mid October cases. It’s been three weeks and our case didn’t schedule yet.

    be brave

i submitted my packet is Aug's 1st week and interview was scheduled for Dec 27. But finally it held During May.

Atleast you have a great hope that your spouse will get visa instead of going on AP/AR.(Insha Allah).

    But look at us/males

    still waiting.......

    -Dude

You are right .... Thanks ..

  5. thanks for you reply PSoft. We havent received an interview date yet but the case was forwarded to embassy last week so im just trying to gather info.

  7. You might want to consider places that he wont have problems

getting a visa in or places that he wont require a visa.

It is not true that you need a report from every country you traveled. Police report required in case if the visa applicant live there for more than six months.

Pakistani can easily go everywhere in Fareast that includes (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Taipei, Bangkok) also in Middle East (United Arab Emirates).

It is been a long time but In 1997 I went to Singapore, Dubai as Pakistani citizen with Visa on arrival thing. You guys can go Iran as well without any issue.

  8. brother i said 5 years not 5 months and sheia sunni issue is everywhere in world i guess in every Muslim country...,and urdu is not a only one i can speak i can speak uiguri...,modern turkish..,and seljuk turkish..,and urdu..,and Abrani...., and i read History alot this is my favourite subject i know history of almost all ancient civilization like bayzentine..,mugal empire..,slalh din empire..,roman empire..,khilafat bano Abbas..,Khilafat fatmey....,Muhammad bin Qasim.., and yusuf bin tasfeen (greatest african king world ever seen conqurer of spain) what else u want to know???i lived in India.., i Lived in Malaysia and Indonesia..,and Kashgar China...

In just 26 years (you lived almost across Asia, India, China, Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia) were you in merchant marines J? And now you are trying to get American Visa? By the way why you didn’t put any attention on American history (lol)

TORONTO, June 6: Six of the 17 people arrested in and around Toronto last week have been formally charged with ‘planning to cause a deadly explosion’, court sources said on Tuesday.

The suspects who are facing serious charges are Fahim Ahmad, Zakaria Amara, Asad Ansari, Shareef Abdelhaleem, Qayyum Abdul Jamal and Saad Khalid.

If convicted, they face sentences of life in prison.

Twelve adults and five teenagers, all Muslims, were arrested in Toronto and adjoining towns — Mississauga and Kingston — in a massive police operation.

All twelve adults have been charged with knowingly participating, directly or indirectly, in the activity of a terrorist group.

By the way all of 'em are from Pakistan.

  9. Shon! What did you write to get this response! lol! I cant get a word out of them except for the stupid generic reply!

With all due respect Mrs.ShonJaveed (it is just a joke)

Michigan, Shon can do anything. She is an American Citizen

She must be mentioned in her letter that she is from minorities group (LOL) and all white in DC are trying to deprive minorities groups from their RIGHTS.

By the way Michigan you will also start getting these type responses if you ask your wife to write e.mails to USCIS/DOS or any other Government agency.

I remembered with the help of Shon last year I wrote a letter to Mr. Vice president and replied me a very detailed letter.

  10. Since my husband has never been to the US before-but has travelled to many other countries-will his AR process be shorter since they will have no checks to run on him from the US?

    Thanks everyone for your help!

I feel all your guys pain!

I told you guys other day and telling again that AR depend upon various things.

Type of marriage – uni or multi cultural wedding

Education – Higher education candidates will wait little more

    Name – Common name

Traveling – Frequent travelers specially (middle east countries) however Pilot, seamen

    Are excluded from this categories

If Pakistani (American girl) marries to Pakistani based guy then AR period 95% shorter then (American girl white or black/ Hispanic) married to Pakistan based guy.

  11. Has anyone else seen the movie Earth? I watched it a few weeks back and was quite surprised. Being the American I am, with fairly Amero-centric world history I really had no idea what the partition really brought. That movie really opened my eyes and a bit of understanding about the tensions between Pakistan and India. I also spoke with a man that was a POW during the struggles between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Interesting!! And all of this in my parents lifetimes!!

On the language front, thanks for all the suggestions. My spoken Urdu is coming along. My greatest trouble comes when my SO and his friends throw Balti into their Urdu. Durn them!!! Confuses me so much. So I make a habit of throwing in Spanish, French or Nepali when I speak English. HA. I really want to learn Balti/Tibetan too, but that is going to have to wait a bit. Too much at once fries my wee brain. I'll stick with the verbal Urdu for now, but need to learn the written soon. If I can write something down, I'll remember it much longer. And writing in the script will help me with the nuances of pronounciation - at least it did with Nepali. I'm eager to try reading poetry too, but I think I'll stick to grade school level Urdu right now! Thanks for all the links Psoft!!

Hoping for good news for everyone this week!

    Dlg,

    Your husband is from Baltistan?

All right guys, it was a long day !! Everyone wish you all best of luck in your immigration process. See you guys tomorrow.

  12. oh My God if you want to teach her tell her some easy poets mirza ghalib and iqbal and Mir anees were persion poetes most of their work in persion and in hard urdu...urdu of pakistan and urdu of delhi and agra is different indians speak better urdu specially delhi and agra people..,and you miss one important part of urdu History..,The Mugal turks emperor of Sub Contient (India&Pakistan) King Akber made this language as official Language of Sub Continent..,and the funny thing was he himself speaks uighuri...,

Brother if you read my earlier post I didn’t declare that I am going to teach her ‘Poetry’

I wrote about my favorites. Some times it seems to me that you are ‘Fake’ I.D. You are trying to be someone but in real you are something else. It is not possible for anyone to know up and down of a country in five months. How do you know that there are two types of Urdu? I spoke to you few days ago on Shia and Sunni issue I was shocked even that time you had enough knowledge (even there is no Shia in Turkey). Dude tell us who are you really? It seems to me you are KBG agent (lol)

I would like to clear you one thing here that there is no difference between Urdu at all. It is culture which effects on language. Urdu of Delhi and Urdu of Lucnow or Karachi everything same the only difference is education. An illiterate persons language, gesture always different then an intellectual person.

In America you will find different accents educated Caucasian, black, asian are always soft spoken on the other hand you will find harsh, slang accents among uneducated folks.

By the way CARVAN also a Persian Word which mean ‘group of travelers’

  13. i'd like to know that too....by the way whats the email address for U.S Consulate in Islamabad?

    here is ISL embassy's SMTP.

    PakIVInfo@state.gov

I e-mailed the embassy yesterday and they responded today and told me the immigrant visa unit will contact my fiance as soon as the adminstrative processing on his case is done. Can somebody tell me who the IMMIGRANT VISA UNIT is? Is this the embassy? Or something else? Thanks

Department who takes of immigration related issue called UNITIV or U can call 'em IMMIGRANT VISA UNIT

  14. Alright PSoft, maybe you can help me with this one too.

I'd love to learn to read/write Urdu, but am having h*ll of a time. What I feel like I need is a video or childrens book or something to show me how to draw the letters. I can see them in the Urdu language books I have, but I don't know how to write them. Back when I was in kindergarten, the teachers showed you how to write the letters, then you copied them down over and over till you figured it out. I tried to find examples on my last trip to Paki, but all my friends kids there were learning only English that way. They didn't understand me wanting to learn Urdu that way... and when I asked them to show me the drew them too fast to grasp...

How did you learn as a kid? Any suggestions where I can find a resource to teach me to write the letters? I had a great Nepali class at Cornell, so I learned Devanagari script. Unfortunately, I haven't found anyone local that knows how to write (let alone speak Urdu). I found several books online, but I don't want to order one and find out it is lousy.

Any online aids or other suggestions?

How 'bout whipping out an animation for me of the alphabet and all the connector letters, etc...?? You and Hafiz have IT backgrounds right? A little Java script??? lol! ;)

    Psoft and Hafiz,

Here's a link to an animation for Devangari to get you started in your coding...

    http://acharya.iitm.ac.in/sanskrit/lessons...va_anim/tar.exe

Some free URL to learn URDU

    http://www.phrasebase.com/learn/urdu.php

    http://www.ukindia.mistral.co.uk/zurdu1.htm

    http://www.newfreedownloads.com/Windows-Ut...rdu-Editor.html

    http://www.pakdata.com/ruqqa/download.php

Do you have experience with any of the these books? I looked at a few I found in bookstores and they seems very weak... I have two "learn Urdu" books/tape sets now, but they aren't teaching me HOW to write the script. They show the script in type, but that doesn't seem to help me learn to write it myself. I need someone to show me or an animation... I guess I'm more of a visual learner than I thought.

Thanks for the links though. I'll give one of the script books a try. My vocabulary is growing fast, but only verbally. Thanks again for taking the time to search.

In my opinion first make your bases strong (learn verbally) then move forward (writing end). I have seen most of these books and I think they are okay :star:
