  1. Hello, question to what you had said above... My fiance is from Wales and we would like to be prepared as you were. How do we know which Dr ne needs to see for the examination? Is there anything specific? THanks so much and congrats on everything!

You might want to check this? But as far as I can remember there is only one doctors office that the embassy uses in the UK, I got this from here the VJ site, "Knightsbridge Doctors in London is the sole contractor for Embassy medicals".

    Tel: 020 7486 7822

Hope this helps and good luck on your journey!

  2. Aren't you sure that I just have to collect everything, go for medical and let them know that I have everything... Then they will issue us with a date??

Thats how it comes across in the letter.

You should have your packet 3 with the check list, once you have everything on the check list send it to the embassy and in about 3 weeks you will recive your packet 4 with your interview date.

  3. You have been sent, what is known as, packet 3. Get these forms filled out and back to Embassy. Once they log them into their system you will be sent out another letter, packet 4, providing you with interview date and instructions.

You should be good for getting there for xmas, just get those forms filled out and sent back ASAP

Just wanted to add that it will take about 3 weeks after you send in packet 3 to get your interview date.

    Best of luck!

  4. At our interview we were told that our Visa was approved pending receipt of police clearance form from Germany (My fiance was stationed there whole in the Army). My question is, how long is the turn around to receive our Visa and passport once the courier picks up them up? We were told it would be a simple process and should only take 3-5 days once everything was received by the Embassy. I am hoping to get some "real-time" experience from VJ users, as we are trying to arrange for him to move, set a wedding date, and purchase plane tickets, etc.. Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing, my fiancee was told by the courier people when she paid them 3-5 days, so she thought she would recive everything back in 3-5 days, she called the courier company and was told that when they recive everything from the embassy it takes 3-5 days to deliver but it takes the embassy 1-3 weeks to forward everything to them.

As so as we hear anything I'll let you know.

Hopefuly some people who were approved in the last month or so will come forward and let us know how long it takes from the interview to reciving there passport and paperwork back.

  5. My fiancé has to have a German police certificate translated. Does the Embassy have strict regulations on what qualifies something as a "certified translation"? Does anyone have any suggested translation companies in England?

Thanks so much for any help/sugguestions/advice. :help:

So sorry to hear of your troubles! :(

We send you are best wishes and prays, hopefuly the rest of your visa journey will be all down hill with No more speed bumps!!

Hello I would like to ask if any of you have used a laywer or some kind of serive to file a k1 visa?

    here is my situation:

i am a 22 year old filipina, but was born and raised in the U.S. Went on vacation at 17 & met a great guy so decided to go to school in the Philippines to be with him. We've been together for 5 years and now have a 1 year old daughter. I finally graduated so I'm heading back to Virginia with our daughter. Rodel & I are not married because we decided that I graduate first. My question is, is there any way I can file the petition while I am still in the Philippines? & is it advisable to use a service? Pls help me, my daughter and I will really miss him. I'm just really looking for the best route. Thanks

YES you can do it on your own without a laywer!

    Best of luck!

  7. Hi everyone! I hope you are all fine! :)

I have one question, how long can I wait in my home country after I receive the K-1? Do I have to fly imeadiatly to the U.S, or can I wait a certain period? I know that after I get there holding the fiancée visa, I have 90 days to get married, but I need to know how long can I wait here in my home country after I receive the visa before flying to the U.S to be with my fiancé. Thanks in advance for your reply! ;)

I'm pretty sure that that the K-1 visa is good for 6 months.

  8. Hi,

I have interview tomorrow morning in London. My spouse has traveled from US to come here and be with me. Is it possible for him to join me during my visit to embassy for interview?

Interview is for: IR1/CR1 immigration visa for US Citizen Spouse.

    Thank you

    - J

I have read that yes you can have a spouse or fiance be there with you at your interview in London. I wonder if you can go to the embassy site and check for sure?

    Good luck at your interview!
