Does anyone have information regarding the following?
- My Mexican fiancee has legal sole custody of her daughter so bringing her should not be an issue, right?
- Her daughter is 6, does she need to go to the interview, they live in Mexico City so the idea was to get her medical exam and send her right back home, as opposed to waiting 3 or 4 days in Juarez (poor girl)
- Can the daughter and my fiancee fly to Juarez on a Monday, get the exams, fly home, and then my fiancee takes a bus back meets me their (Juarez) on say Friday and we go to the interview? Does anyone know if this sounds like it is a good idea?
Thanks
I am not really sure but I can tell you the following.
My wife is from Mexico and is a Mexican citizen as well as two of our girls. This is concerning an immigrant visa for them. We were required as part of the paperwork to provide a letter from the other parent that stated that the girls had his permission to immigrate to the united states as well as copies of both of our divorce papers from previous marriages.
As far as the medical exam, we did this last wednesday. This is what I can tell you. For the medical exam either a blood parent or the petitioner can accompany and sign for the child(this is what the lady told me). They require a tuberculosis test which if it hasnt been done they can do it but you will have to return two days later for the results. I would recommend having this done locally and taking the results with you so you don't have to do it there. Also take all her vaccination records and passport. I am not sure what the rules are on this but with my daughters (12 and 14) they were required to strip down to the nude and had their external genitalia reviewed (not touched). I am not sure if they would permit the father to go in with a 6 year old girl but this freaked out my daughters and they are much older and of course I was sitting right outside the room. The doctor was a female doctor. I would reccomend looking at the following link.

As for the rest of it, We arrived at 6:00am. We went to the front of the building in the reception area and a person took all our information and made sure it was there and then gave us a number. We then went to the waiting area (Take some warm clothes it is cold) and waited for our number to be called. We then got in line and waited our turn. Once it was our turn we went to the window where the lady asked who they were and who I was and a bunch of questions about their vaccination records as the were partially in mexico and one state in the US and another State in the US. They then had them sign a pad and took their pictures. They also had me (as the petitioner) sign. They keep the passports and other papers until you pay. We then went upstairs to the area for children and women and waited for them to call us. They then weighed each and took their height and checked their heartbeat and eyesight. They then had them go to the room I described above and asked about their mother and why she wasn't there and if they had ever done drugs etc... After that they gave them the TB test and a band with a barcode around their wrist that they could not remove. I went downstairs and paid (in cash). We returned on friday and they looked at the TB test and we were done within 5 minutes. We had to return at 2:00pm for the results. We were then given a black package that can only be opened by a person at the consulate.
Hope this helps.

Just thought I would add my 2 cents
At this time I am just applying for my two daughters and will do my wife when they are done for other reasons. But I have some suggestions after going through the process.
1. Don't listen to anyone on the streets that offer to help. We were told by somone close to the front of the Medical Facility that we first needed to go somewhere else and then go to a second clinic. I had already read that people will do something similiar to this. I drove to the gate of the clinic anyways and talked to the guard. He then opened the gate and let me in. He took my drivers license and then returned it when we left. Very easy and didn't cost a thing. We were also told that we had to wear special clothes to the consolate and that he would watch our phones for us.
2. The lawyer that I had wasn't doing his job correctly and because of that we waited almost 6 months longer than we needed to. I am not sure if this works for a fiance visa but when I called the NVC I had them add my email address to the case. I then received everything that they sent at the same time as my lawyer. The reason I mention this is because many people say that they called and their case was ready but they hadn't received the letter. I received the ones for my daughter in an email almost two weeks prior to it coming USMAIL. It was in a PDF that I just printed and used the day of the appointment.
3. You cannot take any type of electronic device into the consulate. I would reccomend that if you are with someone to take a book. If by yourself unfortunately you will have to keep a constant eye on the monitor for your number to come up although it did seem to make a sound like a doorbell every time a new number appeared. I also had a FOB that I have to use for VPN access on my key chain as well as another for access to an outside office door which they spent a lot of time looking at. I would remove anything out of the ordinary.
We arrived at 8:00 and then had to return to the car to stash the Ipods and cell phones. We went to the guard and he asked for the two first pages of the Interview letter. We were then escorted into the first building where we went through metal detectors and received our numbers. We then waited about an hour in the outside seating area. Once our number came we went to the window that was assigned to our number. The lady was very nice and spoke to us in english. Verified that we had all the right papers. For some reason one of my daughters was missing a copy of our marriage certificate so the made a copy of the original. Then they realized that the other daughter had two coppies. Anyways they just asked who they were and how old they were. The also took their passports and kept them. This only took about 5 minutes. After another hour we went to another window in which they took fingerprints of my 14 year old daughter. They said the 12 year old didn't need them. Then we waited for another 1.5 hours and went to another window. They had both of them swear to tell the truth..... Then they asked how old they were and nothing else to the girls. They asked me how long I was married to their mother and where she currently lives and if I live with here. And that was it. she told me they were approved and sent me to the DHL counter where they only spoke spanish. Luckily enough as my wife only speaks spanish I can understand and speak enough. We are now just waiting for the package from DHL which My Lawyer said I could pick up the same day. He didn't mention anything about DHL and of course it hasn't come so I hope tomorrow it will as the girls are anxious to get back to school.
This may not be the best place to post this. if not someone please let me know.
Question about children at Juarez Interview
in US Embassy and Consulate Discussion
Posted
I saw many young children but no babies. As I have been told, Normally they do not permit anyone but the applicant to go to the interview. However because my children are minors as yours are they permitted me to go. My daughters are my step daughters and because I was the US Citizen pettioning for them I was permitted to accompany them. So I think in your case you could accompany your baby. I would assume that there would be two separate interviews. One for your Husband and one for your baby. I have not done my wife yet so I cannot offer any advice yet on that. I would think that you could do the interview for your baby yourself. Hope this information helps.
