21/23 items, that's impressive. Walmart is always a mess, it seems.. sale or not lol
Our thread has really died. But, I really want to wait until brsko becomes a citizen before I completely abandon this site.
Have you finished all your Christmas shopping yet? We're leaving for a 3 week vacation this week, hooray!
Yea we did well. 3 week vacay- so hating you right now cuz I only got approved for 1 1/2 weeks
Congrats brsko

Me, show off? Never!
Thanksgiving was good, spent 6 hours cooking, and then stuffing myself afterwards. My 3 year old loves to help.
I went to walmart around 4pm, and, it was just one big clusterf**k. I hate that place. I walked in, saw everyone hovering around everything like vultures, and walked right out. I went to the Christmas isle to look at decorations, and all the people lined up were giving me the stink eye, as if I was trying to cut in line. Thank goodness for online shopping lol I don't do black Friday.
lol I hadn't planned on cooking because I came back to DE from MI the day before. But then my BFFs husband and I were going *coincidentally* to Walmart at 5 so we decided to just cook so we can hang out before.
Im sorry your store was such a mess Ours was calm enough for hubby, my bffs hubby and I to get 21 out of 23 items and be out in an hour between 5-6:30. We went back to my house and had dessert and watched movies. Got my last item online
Oddly enough, a lot of people missed dinner for shopping but we made sure we cooked early enough to eat... Glad you did the same
-
Was that routine service? That's pretty awesome! I got mine a couple hours later, after my appointment.
Our thread is so dead now, boo! How was your Thanksgiving, woman?
Yes it was... show off lol
Thanksgiving was good. Cooked and had my BFF and her family over at the last minute, ate by 5 and went shopping. Was in and out of walmart in less than an hour. Got back home by 7p to serve dessert and watch movies.
How was urs?

You should receive it within 4 weeks.
Got my passport in exactly 2 weeks.

Id suggest a bit of counselling, possibly?! There seems to be things you guys are not properly communicating about to each other and probably a mediator is a good way to resolve this.
Id also suggest finding ANY job that you are eligible for; like retail. Although not ideal, this could be a "breather" for him to see you contributing. I understand that he initially was fine with you being unemployed but obviously this has changed. Id say try to get a part time gig even if its barely enough for you to have your own spending money.
Im sorry you are going through this and I wish you guys the best

Please look at this link:

What is the process once my husband is a citizen to sponsor his mother? Is it an I-130?
4. I-485
5. I-765 (optional)
6. I-131 (optional)
7. G-1145 (optional)8. I-693
Should she return to Mexico before her visa expires or should she stay here and do a change of status?
Totally up to you guys and the circumstances she is facing.
Will they forgive her for overstaying her visa?
Yes

This makes it easier for others to help you
As far as form I-130:
Number 2 is current address
Number 3 is address/town in his home country
Thanks, that's quite helpful. Unfortunately, Acrobat doesn't want me to fill in letters where it wants numbers, so I suppose I'll have to fill these out by hand ...
Anyone know anything about the address??What question specifically are you referring to?

I dont believe they do a drug test. Here is a link for the civil surgeons search.

Hi I'm in the same situation, My H1B expires 2/1/2014, i also did extensive research and this is what i would say to your questions
Submit the I-130; I-485; I-864; A G325A for both you and your spouse; I-765 and the I-693. I went ahead and got the I-693 done. They don't need much information apart from what's on the form the results are good for a year so i would suggest you do that right away, you can schedule before you submit the forms and that was the hold up for me as i had to get all the vaccines as to get my vaccination from Jamaica would have taken too much time and the doctor I went to didn't have all the vaccines on hand so i had to go back and for TB you have to go back two days after they administer the test so if you have to run around and get this done it takes time so don't wait.
I believe once you get the EAD your current H1B does become void and you are free to work for whoever.I intend to wait until I get the green card before looking at other jobs.
You can use your income as proof, i didn't need to as my wife's salary is more than sufficient. I'm not sure what using your income means in terms of paperwork, all the best there
Please pay careful attention to the bolded parts above. Some offices schedule the medical examination appts way in advance or with a few days notice so if you can, ensure you have your immunization card or do as the previous poster has done. Find a civil surgeon that fits with your desired schedule https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=CIV
All the best

I also meant to say one thing, but I forgot. I'm in an interracial relationship, I'm black and my USC fiancé is white, and I've often heard of couples like us being subjected to obvious prejudice. Any body has any similar experiences?
Not at all; Im Jamaican (im brown) and hubby is Puerto Rican (he looks like a tanned caucasian) ... we had no issues btw but we got more positivity than anything, like the "aww you guys are adorable" lol
P.S. interracial relationships have become the norm so you have nothing to worry about. All the best

how long did your oath ceremony last at philly?
we made an appointment for a passport and wondering if 3 hours is enough, because it's about 4 miles away
I didnt attend the oath in philly due to me going on vacation. Instead, it was held in Wilmington DE.
I'll tell you what I experienced nonetheless. Honestly, it lasted about 3-3 31/2 due to the fact that there was an actual program preceeded by each person, individually having to go and sign their certificate. And during the program (singing, dialoques, etc) each person was again presented with the offical "welcome to america" packet so it took a while.
-
Oath was fine, it was just... meh. I wasn't all emotional or hyped about becoming a US citizen, like other people. I also have a bad cold, so I feel like #######. I literally sat down and wished for it to be super short and simple, and it was. So happy it's over and done with now, though. Good luck with your clinical! I am traveling out of the country on Wednesday, picking my passport up on Monday. I don't think they keep the certificate for same day service, and I sure hope they don't staple it!
Oh goody... lol @ the certificate.
-
thank you guys. Im sending it right now
You are welcome. All the best
-
Congrats to you guys on your accomplishments
- If you have not already, please take a look at the step by step guide that is provided http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2
- In additon to your primary forms, you would need:
- I-693, Medical Examination and it is best you make this appt asap and have a copy of your immunization docs
- Two G-325A. One filled out by the US Citizen (your bf) and one by you
- An optional G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance for email/text updates
- An optional I-131, Application for Travel Document, if you need to travel outside the United States while your application is processed
- I personally would not advise you to work past your EAD expiration date as you technically wont have work authorization until you get the other one from your AOS. Please note that if you choose to work, it will be forgiven by USCIS as you are an immediate relative of the USC (exemption clause)
-
They generally start to raise their eyebrows at 2.0 and below.
This will be a matter of whether they feel that you were in the US primarily to "be in the US" or if you were actually taking school seriously, but struggled hard with your classes, despite your efforts. If you had a medical reason, that is certainly something they will take into consideration, but as with all immigration matters, this should be documented.
I think this might be your saving grace. Just make sure that you have documentation to prove this injury. As previously mentioned, your GPA is not the greatest but you did the right thing in returning home and starting fresh. kudos to you!
A community college is a great place to restart. Tuition is more affordable, smaller classrooms and a calmer atmosphere (IMHO). Its gonna be tough to convince the embassy to give you another chance but I think you will be fine; just buckle down and try your best to not repeat this mistake.
-
They took mine too and also stapled it! This is such an important document to have two holes now!
I don't have any plans to travel soon, that's why I applied for routine service.
"When applying for a U.S. passport in person, evidence of U.S. citizenship must be submitted with Form DS-11. All documentation submitted as citizenship evidence will be returned to you. These documents will be delivered with your newly issued U.S. passport or in a separate mailing."
I get that but did ya have to staple it; now Im dreading rips and tears lol
"Bring a photocopy of the front and back of each ID document that you will present when you apply."
And this crockery cuz we technically arent supposed to copy our naturalization certs
-
Forgive me if Im wrong but ovestays and unauthorized employments are forgiven when immediate relatives adjust status
-
Yes, this is strong/suitable evidence
-
I agree with the above advice. Do it yourself. I AOS'd from F-1 also and its not as intimidating or risky as most attorneys would make it seem. This site is here to help you with the process.
You will be fine- your case is not that complicated
-
Looks like it took 3 month for an Oath?did you change your name ?why it took so long?
Hi. My situation was such that we actually live in Delaware but since we dont have an Interview office, I had my interview in Philly. They offered an oath 3 days later but since hubby & I were leaving for vacation on said day, I had to decline . Well then since DE is soooo small, I literally had to wait until they had 50+ people for the oath to be scheduled
-
Has anyone applied for the passport? I hope it doesn't take forever!
I applied on Wednesday (13th)... they took my naturalization cert and said they will mail it back to me post processing. Soooo strange
Oh.. I double posted, nicely done.
Yes, here in Los Angeles, we have same day service for $195. I don't think it's offered everywhere, but, you can check, if it's offered where you live.
Are you travelling soon? We are leaving to JA December 31st
