Yeah, as arken just said, having your spouse in attendence is nice, but in no way required.  USCIS couldn't care less, one way or another.  I wouldn't delay for that reason if it was me.  If circumstances permit, then absolutely, but work is pretty important and nobody will judge you simply because your spouse couldn't be there.

OK, the signature block on our approval letter was from a local office near me...not anywhere near CSC. So, I think CSC is sending these (at least some of them) to local service centers to be adjudicated, as soon as they get them...or they aren't being sent to CSC at all...and being sent directly to local offices instead, despite what the NOA says. I got mine fast, so I think that may be good news, all the same.

Well, it looks like that e-mail I got regarding activity on my account wasn't a false alarm after all.  Updated this morning to show that interview is scheduled, though the interview appointment letter hasn't shown up yet.  YEAH! :-)

CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE! cant wait until i see the green card..or at least see my online status changes to "production"

thats why im thinking if calling customer service will somehow trigger the production.

Wife's family are pretty poor...hard working, provincial rice farmers, who have struggled their entire lives. We send over a bit and wife's income more than covers the cost, but we were sending the same amount monthly before she got a job. Bottom line is that the money we send gives them a modest lift in their lifestyle. Both parents should be retired, but her father, who is 80 years old this year, still gets up at 4:30 AM every morning and heads to his rice fields. I've never felt that money was being wasted and we're both happy we can help them.

BTW, another benefit of filling our your timeline is that it will give you an estimate, based on other timelines that are similar to your, on when you will get thru USCIS. It's not terribly accurate, but it's a decent ballpark.

It does *almost* sound like an 'I'm doing you a big favor by going there and marrying you' viewpoint...which I would feel very uncomfortable about. I don't think this is just a cultural thing either...my wife is filipina and never hinted at anything like that.
As others have said, it sounds like she's trying to tell you something, but she really doesn't know how to say it. Not saying she doesn't love you, but that is doesn't ring completely right either. You definitely need to get to the bottom of her feelings about the entire thing.

You can open the plastic and get the passport out, no problem. It's the brown envelope with the corner cut off that you must never open. There should be warning stickers and instructions telling about the brown envelope.

Aggressive and violent acts aside, that is not culturally normal in a happy FilAm relationship. That is very significant. Impossible from the distance of a web site to diagnose that, but the OP should take that very seriously. It may be medication...it may be something far worse, but that is not normal. That requires professional attention...a priest, marriage counselor or heavier. I'm not making excuses for her behavior either...just a big red flashing neon sign on this one that something is going very, very wrong and the OP needs to find out what it is.

She may have felt slighted, but the erratic behavior beyond that is not normal. They've been together for a few years now and obviously this behavior is new to him. A mere apology isn't going to wipe away what she's done and he doesn't deserve to be subjected to that kind of violent sh!t. Filipinas that act that way on a regular basis must have been spoiled as children and never learned how to act like like a civilized grown up.

NVC doesn't care about your state returns, only Federal....and the IRS may look at state returns at some point in the future to crosscheck that you aren't cheating them, but the state returns don't hold up anything as far as your IRS returns go. Once you've got all your IRS returns/transcripts ready for you package, you are ready to go...forget about the state returns...those are strictly between you and your state.

Uh...I think you hurt her very badly with the way you handled Valentines. It's not about you getting gifts...it's about her. Why did you even bring up the gift from her to you? And the first time you mentioned it, it was pretty clear that the topic of her giving you a gift was depressing her. But you persisted then to question why her gift did not arrive, when you already knew she had attempted to send one to you..the shop confirmed it.
I really think you blew it right there.
Long distance relationships require extra special care. I don't think you got that message until now.

He hasn't used his cell phone or withdrawn any money and doesn't have a car...it's very, very strange. I know this thought won't make you feel any better (maybe worse), but he could be a victim of foul play of some kind. I think that is what the police were getting at. Just keep gathering any information you can and check with the police often and pray for the best.
