Oh from Russia. I never really know how serious to take guys like this, just like I don't take guys like John McCain that seriously. Looks like a lot of them never made it out of the cold war. Still it's disconcerting that there are people out there who think like that.
I originally thought you meant someone from Crimea did that.

Read that the military, at this time, is taking a back seat. The call for martial law came from the Crimea. This would have to be presented to parliament and per i.ua that won't happen. Time will tell. My fiance has told me about protesting now happening in her city, Kirovohrad. It definitely is now returning to other cities. A few months back there were protests primarily from Western Ukraine, but now protests are popping up in the Eastern cities. Hopefully, level heads will prevail. No one wins when violence takes over.

Yuliya, where did you read/hear about Ukraine going under Martial Law? I have seen nothing as I am following the events in Kiev very closely. I know protests have become very serious and some violent. However, I have seen nothing, read nothing and heard nothing, even from my fiance, about this. Let me know. FYI>>>I am originally from Wisconsin.

And the interviewer is not obligated to tutor you in the rules of visas. You applied for the WRONG visa. Denied. Not his fault and not his job to inform you what visa TO apply for. .
Apply for a B2, show adequate ties to her home country (such as YOU live there) Get the B2, come and get married have your honeymoon in CA and leave. Thank goodness the USA does not turn away the billions of foreign dollars we make every year as a honeymoon destination!
An I-129 is not a visa and USCIS does not issue visas. USCIS should have denied the petition and kept your fee for not reading the rules first, but they approved it. So what? It does not obligate anyone to issue a visa.
If they do not issue the visa it will be because you do not show sufficient ties to the country. Not their problem. If denied, plan on an alternate place for the wedding/honeymoon.

This is the internet. The price of admission is a computer. Treat answers accordingly. You are applying for a FIANCEE visa, In which consulate are you required to have children to qualify for a fiancee visa? Anyone saying so is wrong or in denial of other reasons they were rejected. You should also not extrapolate threads which say "I was denied because I am a 58 year old woman wanting to marry a 26 year old man from Morroco and they say our love is not genuine because I cannot have children" Without all the details...it does not apply to you.
Idiots are all around us, they walk among us and many of them work for government agencies...wait until you apply for the SSN or a drivers license if you don't believe me. Where I am from (the USA) any man over 18 with the necessary payment can get a vasectomy and judging from the number of clinics around here, a lot of men are.
I am taking a wild guess that there were other circumstances you aren't telling us but hey, this is an immigration site. Having a vasectomy does not affect your abiltiy to get a K-1. Period. No further discussion.
As noted above not living in the USA WILL affect the ability to get a K-1 UNLESS you are active duty military...I'm guessing you are not.

What exactly is the problem? You don't have children. So what? You will not be required to prove you do not have children (there will be none listed on your tax returns)
The US consulate could not possibly care less, neither does USCIS
Find something else to worry about.

There is no requirement to have children in order to get a K-1 visa. A non-issue for that. It sounds more like a rant about the military and society as a whole, rather than something having to do with obtaining a K-1.

I took the comment as meaning that after a lengthy overstay you will forever face extra scrutiny when applying for a visa.
And unless you can prove absolute concrete ties to your home country then forever may not be too far from the truth, hence the bit about keeping hold of paperwork to prove ties.
I wouldn't say that was trying to scare anyone, merely being realistic with a slight hint of pessimism.

    My 2 cents:
    1. annulment was signed - this nullifies the marriage. He got his first green card based on a bonafide marriage, or by showing evidence thereof.
    2. in the wording of the annulment, the respondent abandoned the marriage 3 months prior to him signing the annulment paperwork.
These 2 things would be enough to overcome most bonafide marriage evidence presented. Since he didn't present bonafide marriage evidence at the interview, the Immigration Officer either has to ask for more evidence or weigh the casefile based on regular adjudication rules.
His chances to 'stay in the USA' ? Slim to none, at the moment. This might change, if he is able to get offered a deportation hearing AND shows other evidence that clearly outlines what he's posted here about what happened.
I tell folk who are fighting visa scammers to file for annulment and list the reasons why the annulment was to occur, I have to think that the OP's wife got some great advice and wanted to be certain this fella have no further inroads to stay in the USA.

tom&tanya reacted to Amy_and_Victor in how have your RUB wifes changed if any since coming here
    - It's Victor from Russia
I'm a Russian guy so I'll tell my opinion about "basic qualities" from your post. You know, it's very individual and it's no reason to paint with a wide brush. Starting from the first, in RUB not every woman is family oriented. Many women there, especially in big cities, now career oriented as well and often don't want to settle down or even think about kids at least until 30 if not much later, they appreciate their freedom and independance. Idk why you told about being materialistic, RUB women are materialistic as well if not more. Of course not everybody, but not everybody here either.
Everybody sitting around the table and talking about how day went - it reminds me something from really oldie times. Many families in RUB don't do it anymore.
"appreciating and loving their man instead of talking bad about him behind his back or just using him as an easy ride" - Again it's very personal, and in RUB it's plenty of women who just want an "easy ride" like in the US it's plenty of loving and appretiating women. I could give plenty of real examples with Russian couples I personally know where guy got screwed because girl didn't give a damn about him and he was just a wallet for her, but I don't want to shake dirty laundry of people I know well here.
Dressing nice - yes, it's the first thing I'll admit is truth. In RUB many girls woudn't go to bread kiosk across the street without makeup and high heels. But situation at home is often different. RUB women care a lot about how they look at public but they don't care even as much as half of it how they look at home, especially after few years of marriage and having kids. The reason is simple - they dress up not for their husband, they dress up for public, because in RUB "what will people say?" is verycommon magic and misterious phrase. Here people take it easy and often wearing what is comfy and don't care if it looks like not a nice clothes. Again, I'm not painting with wide brush, it also can be individual.
Healthy diet - partially agree. I wouldn't call it necessary healthy, I would rather tell that here too many people eat too unhealthy. Too many fast foods, too large portions everywhere, too many sugar and corn syrup in most of the food, soups thick as a stew, desserts have enormous amount of calories, too many huge packs of food with no normal size substitutes... Just eating normal homemade food is already healthy comparing to how many people eat in the US, that's the problem.
Just my 2 cents, no offence to anybody.
It's nothing new for RUB either, very common situation there. From many women in RUB you would hear phrase "I'm the mother of your kids!" and this argument supposed to finish any arguments about unappealing old bathrobe or always messed up hair.
The only difference is that in RUB in at least 9 cases of 10 children will stay with mother (full custody) and child support she can get from ex is little to nothing. So in case of divorse with kids if husband wants to be an a-hole, he most likely can start a new life with no "tails" and his ex-wife will turn into broken single mother with almost no support.

Well this isn't a legal matter. Nothing a lawyer can do for you that you already done. The congressman would have better chance but you say they got what you got. I would be back on phone with maybe another congressman or same call senator and keep calling.
I seriously would not waste money on a lawyer ask yourself what can a lawyer do. One lawyers do not call NVC or USCIS EVER. So your time and money would be wasted. They don't troubleshoot they file your papers for you.
If it was a legal matter I would say heck yes get one but it is not its a horrible clerical mess of hot potatoe. I am so sorry. Please do keep us posted.

tom&tanya reacted to pirogovak in Charleston, SC - my naturalization interview experience (3 yr rule, based on marriage)
Hey guys ! I just wanted to share my naturalization interview experience I had today. I am Russian married to American citizen, filed my N-400 application on June 1, 2013; fingerprints taken on June 13th, 2013; application was placed in line for interview scheduling - July 9th, 2013; received my appointment notice in the beginning of October, and interview was scheduled for October 29th, 2013 - for me to appear in Charleston USCIS office on 1 Poston Rd, Parkshore Center.
Couple of weeks before interview date I receive yellow notice stating I had to bring 'state issued drivers license or photo ID' to my interview. Well, duh. OK, overall my interview experience went GREAT. We arrived 10 minutes early (interview was scheduled for 9:40 am), went through security, then in the next room they took my interview notice, took my photo and fingerprints, I was asked to wait. About 10 minutes later officer appeared and called me in. I was asked to sit down, then raise my right hand and to his 'do you swear to tell the truth blah blah' I said 'I do'. Then he asked me to show my IDs, I gave him my green card and beginners permit. Then he proceeded to ask me: my full name, date of birth, where i was born, place of work, what position i hold at my job, my husband's name, his date of birth, our marriage date.I was asked to sign 2 photos I submitted with my application, with my regular day-to-day signature. Then this very nice officer Mansford proceeded to ask me questions from my submitted N-400 (do i belong to any clubs or organizations, do i belong to any terrorist organizations, have i ever registered to vote, have i ever claimed to be American citizen in writing or any other form, blah blah). I was over-prepared for the interview I must say, I brought originals and copies of all my pay stubs, our joint account statements, all the tax forms, even the photos of me and Neil over the years..can never be over prepared AND the ONLY originals of documents he asked to present were my passports (I showed him my Russian passport and my international passport) and my husband's birth certificate.
Then he asked if i was ready for my civics test, I was like 'Sure!'. I was asked 1. Who becomes president if president is no longer able to; 2. What was the main concern of US during the cold war; 3. What is 1 right or freedom from 1st Amendment; 4. Why did the colonists come to America; 5. Who is in charge of the executive branch; 6. There are 4 amendments to the Constitution about who can vote, describe one of them. Afterwards I was asked to read 'Who is the father of our country?' and to write 'Washington is the father of our country'. Aaand done! He said my application was approved, congratulated me, gave me a sheet of paper that said i was approved, escorted me back to the waiting room and asked to wait for someone to give me instructions about my oath ceremony. About 15 minutes later i was given said instructions. My oath ceremony is a week from my interview date, on November 5th, 2013.
If you guys have any questions, please ask and I will answer, I really hope this helps someone!

Reply now, with "Not a USC"; anything else equates to representing you are a USC and that is a big no no. It is immaterial what you will be on the day of the jury duty summons, they draw this requests out of driver's licenses records usually. There have been other posts here about this and I sort of recall one in which now the person was in a deportation process.
I can see your logic of waiting until the day of the test; but I think is safer to do it now.

I know we are all used to "proving" our relationships up to this point. But at this stage of the game the only thing we have to prove is the time in the U.S.A (3 or 5 years depending on the circumstances of our application.) ... and of course passing the citizenship test!
So I don't think there is much to stress about. I just sent what they asked for, no more - no less.

Actually, although we do pay uscis so they will be able to operate on that budget as it's outside of congressional monies, uscis relies on other parts of the government for things such as background checks etc. I'd expect that stuff to be slowed up quite a bit as it's not a "priority".
