Hi can you add me to the list please
We sent off our papers on the 10th to the California office.
I see patience is needed for this process too !
-
Wow looks as slow as i130 approvals ! Might as well chill - it looks like next June for me!

I finally sent off my ROC packet Saturday priority mail so it wouldn't get lost. I included :
!.Bank Statements
2. Credit cards in both names
3. Memberships
4. Tax returns
5. Personal mail in both names
6.Joint home ownership
7. Insurance and beneficiary info
8.Photo's
Plus all the required info and cheque
I was slow getting it out as my green card expires Dec.15th 2012 but its still within the time frame so let the waiting begin!
How long of a wait am I in for with the California office?

Hi all,
On my conditional green card my maiden name was used as that was on my passport info. I want my married name on my new green card but I'm not sure if using that on the I751 will be enough to make sure it isn't sent back with my maiden name on it.
any suggestions?
thanks

Hi everyone
What a great group to be in company with
I am just starting to get my stuff together to send in. My GC expires othe middle of December. I gather there is a long wait for this process too
Any helpful hints from you out there. How much info to support the marriage do they REALLY want?

This was disgusting and the people who did this had it planned ahead of time. The TRUE fans stayed in the arena or at home and celebrated the Bruins getting the Stanley Cup for playing the better game. The TRUE fans also support the Canuck's for a hard fought season and look forward to a better outcome next year. I thought the news would be focused on the game not the sorry display of these fools and those who chose to stay and give them an audience.
The people of Vancouver were out helping clean up the mess made by these fools and hope to see them held accountable, and hope they are made to make restitution to those businesses who can not afford the losses they've taken.
I was shocked to see what happened to my city, yet this is what bullies and anarchists do it seems.

Thanks for your help. I'll wait till then. I'll just keep my marriage license handy if asked.

Hi there
Your SSN will be in your maiden name until you change it. I'll assume that your passport is in your maiden name as well as you have processed your USCIS documents. You need to take your passport and your original copy of your marriage certificate to your local Social Security office, that way you can change your name to your married name. You can also send in the information, but they require the original, or a certified copy.
Check the following link: http://ssa-custhelp....detail/a_id/315
Also, I would wait to get my state id (driver's license, etc.) as most forms of id require a SSN to process. Get that done first then you can have the others in your married name.
Good luck!
Connie
Thanks Connie just followed your link. Sure don't want to pay $400. to have it changed

It was done in both names as my passport was in my maiden name. I hadn't changed it. So on my application documents I had both names. Can I change it when it comes to adjustment of status? Keep the one till then?

Hi,
A question for all the knowledgable people out there. I got my greencard yesterday but it was in my maiden name. They went by my passport. So any suggestions what to do next? I'm wondering if my SSN will be in my maiden name as well. Any help would be appreciated.

The way to remove pen ink from paper is by using acetone. It is the best liquid because acetone evaporates very fast. I did a science project on removing ink and here is what I found:
1. Acetone is the best for paper preservation because it does not saturate the paper as the other liquids do. It is also fast drying because of its evaporation factor. Acetone works on a lot of pen inks but not all.
2. Bleach works well on more inks then acetone but it saturates the paper and makes it very wet and easily torn.
4. Denatured alcohol works very well on inks that acetone will remove and its wet factor is more than acetone but no where near as bad as bleach. The paper dries pretty fast and is preserved as acetone's is.
Hope this helps!
.
Try it on another piece of paper first. Kids
Hope that does it for you!

Yup call them back and give your Canadian passport info. They use your passport number to find you in the system not your case number ( at least that was my experience ).
I think they should find it for you. It should be here today. They ask for 5 biz days, so if not today tomorrow.
sooonnnnnn

Did they ask you for your passport info? If not call back and try another person. They are able to give you info based on your passport and other questions they will ask.

What number did you call for the " visa hotline " ? Maybe after you tell us that we can be of some help :thumbs:I'm sure you'll see it soon with Christmas it may be a bit slower but still
What city are you picking it up in?

The more people I've watched go through this long process and then get approved the more I smile. Congrats again to you all
To those of you still waiting, hang in there the day will come when you too will be wearing a permanent smile. I finally move next week and I am getting a bit nostalgic about home (my Canadian one) and how I will miss my friends and family. Yet so glad to be able to FINALLY start my new life.
I hope everyone has a smooth transition and that the holiday's will be happy and healthy and spent with your loved ones.

I thought I'd add to this post as yesterday I activated my visa for my move on the 28th. I also want a nexus pass.
I was told there would be no problem activating my visa CR1 and then moving. I have to move with my parrots and have them Vet checked so I didn't want another wait for activating the visa. We have a long drive to San Diego so the less time waiting the better.
I went to Peace Arch crossing in Blaine Washington yesterday to do this. I encountered a CBP agent who hassled me for not doing it when I moved. I was told " do you know the number of people who do this and never move ". I expressed that having gone through this process for over a year and a half that my intention IS moving to live with my husband or I never would have gone through this long wait. I also explained the reasons politely for doing it this way. He still hesitated. I then asked " is this allowed or not?" He then said yes and went to process it and then said I can't see you in the system. I thought I was going to throw up. After confirming all the info in my packet he said oh that is your husbands name, okay I will do it. Sometimes I wonder if they are on a power trip
. I asked about NEXUS and YES you can pass with that.
Maybe at this time of year there are some unusually GRUMPY CPB agents
. The couple who had the agent beside me had a very helpful agent I wished I had got him.
This should be a simple process with all the info they have by now!

Sorry to hear all you have gone through. Move on and get your divorce and if you feel it will help disclose your information to the authorities do it. Only you know the extent of harm he has caused and may cause. Protect yourself and your daughter and HEAL from this, it wasn't your fault you were fooled.
All the best!

Other than spending money ( we do have awesome restaurants here!) and the cost for vaccinations if you need them still you've got it covered.

Good answer to that one!
