  1. Hi,

I too had this question as I have crossed the border many times living only 10 min. away for years. I would cross to fill with gas. NVC said to put the dates I could remember and just explain what I told them. So I filled out a supplementary form to add to the packet.

They want to know if you have ever been on business or previously resided there, so if you have only been a "visitor" just state that.:thumbs:That's all you should need.

    Cheers Jewel

  2. Hi

I am just beginning this journey. The more I read, the more confused I get. I'm sure I will be able to follow the steps once I better understand the path I should take.

Situation:I was born raised and lived in the US for almost 50 years. I want to marry a Canadian citizen.

I hope I am wrong, but in my researching today it appears that my wife to be will have to remain outside of the United States for a period of time, while the forms get processed.

Our plan was to get married in the US and fill out forms (whatever they turn out to be) but have her here living with me the entire time. Is this not possible? Does she need to stay in Canada for a period of time?

We have no problem going the fiance route if determined to be better or easier.

    Also

She has told me based on her research that we can get married in US, and then I will be her sponsor, and thus she can remain in the US the entire time, but will not be eligible for employment for 5 years. I did not see anything relating to the 5 year law.

I have read about the K-1, K-3 and the IR-1/CR-1, but still sit here overwhelmed.

Any advice, clarification, suggestions are welcome

    Thanks

    Mark

Hi welcome to Visa Journey and you will be VERY glad you are here! I still find it a bit confusing but everyone on here is helpful and the guides help too.

I married a US citizen. We both thought .. US and Canada are friendly it will be easy, well not as easy as we thought. Its a process but if you get all the paperwork you need not too bad. You need to apply to go to the US, we got married first, in Canada, so the I-130 was the way to proceed. We travel back and forth to see one another. This

proved to be difficult ...( I keep my papers showing ties to Canada when I travel ) and have no difficulties at the border crossings. Hopefully this process will be done in another couple of months and we will be together.

I think it might be worth your while for you to get papers for Canadian Immigration at the same time as he has to be outside Canada as well. (just a thought)

Opt in for electronic processing it seems to speed up the process.

All the best in your future together,

    Jewel

  3. Hi,

Yes you can move with pets but you need a Cites permit from Canada and also a permit from the US if either parrot is on the endangered species list. http://www.cites.ca/ In this case you will have to apply for an import permit from the US fish and wildlife service. You will also have to get a Veterinarians health

letter. Hopefully you have the purchase details as well.

I have 2 parrots as well going through the immigration process. There are pet passports and exports. they will want to know how you plan on taking them as well. My amazon is on the endangered species list so its a bit more complicated as you need 2 authorizations ,if you need more info

    email me.

  4. Hi there.. I plan on moving to the US before 2011 and I'm curious as to how I go about moving my pets with me. I own a Nanday conure which is a small South American Parrot. I also have a 5 year old female Tortoise shell cat. I plan on living in Reno, Nevada USA with my fiance and I currently live in Brantford, Ontario Canada. We've learned it's a good 4 day travel-by-car trip so I'm wondering if there are any specific procedures on transporting such animals across the border permanently. Also, we will be doing so using our K1 visa. So, is there anything I need to know regarding this matter including whether or not there might be a specific service available to accommodate such a situation. Help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks again!

  5. Hi To All..........

I'm in need of as much accurate advice as possible, I know I'm asking alot though in desparate

    need of some answers.............

Ok, So I am a british citizen, and I am married to a US citizen. Met my husband when he was in US Air Force, posted here in UK. We married in Aug 09 and 3 months later we found out I was expecting a baby.

My husband has now separated from the military and was sent back to states as he didn't have a visa to stay here. I was going to go with him, though I wanted to have my 20wk scan done before I went anywhere, and plus no medical insurance was not an option for me, especially as I'm pregnant.

My husbands visa application is now under way and they say it takes up to 12 wks, so he can reside here in UK once it's been approved. So now, I am looking at going over to visit under the VWP hoping for perhaps 80 days, more if poss?! I have found medical insurance to cover me and the baby. We're hoping I will be going there and the two of us (husband n I) returning here together. Even if his application still hasnt gone through though I intend to leave US as I would have reached my maximum limit on flying time due to carrying a child.

Its been bought to my attention that because of our circumstances, already married, pregnant, wanting to stay as long as possible 36 wks, that immigration may not want to let me in for fear I will not leave. I have been advised that I should take supporting documents to show officials if asked, that I do not intend to out stay desired time. Letter from midwife n pregnancy plan to show I am planning on having birth here and all other records to do with pregnancy, and also copy if husbands visa application..... do not know what else i can show, seeing as my husbands separation wasnt planned and happened very quick. I am now living bk with family, and am not working as I gave up work when found out bout baby as we were finacially comfortable. I am desparate to be with my husband for as much time as poss, It's not fun being apart and being pregnant. Want to be as a family. I have every Intention of leaving US before baby comes as I cannot afford the hospital bills!

Please can anyone help me, I'm so worried. It's bad enough to think my husband may have to miss out on the birth of his child. As much time together as possible is so precious to us.

Thanks for reading my essay! lol

    Hi,

If you take all the papers of your medical benefits there, utility bills, your income etc. it should be possible. Plan your return with flight info, this helps too as I have found they have asked me that when visiting my husband. If you have all these papers and plan on a short stay, hopefully the border security will allow your stay. It is always up to the individual you get so flight insurance is worth it. All the best!

  6. Hi all who are waiting for their approval for the I130. It seems to take so long... I am wondering if you receive and RFE how long does it take them to process that?

I was made a new grandma a couple of days ago so that was awesome, just don't feel old enough ;) We will have been married one year in April and had hoped all this paper work would be over by then so we can finally be together.

    Thanks for any help,

    :)

  7. I filed in September of 2009 and received my NOA1 on September 29th 2009. I have since been waiting for my NOA2. I know September petitions are being processed, but I see some people have the same dates as mine and got their NOA2s about the 25th of Jan '10.

Wonder what's taking mine so long.

I really am getting impatient here.

Any advise, or maybe I am just looking for some comfort and a confidence-booster. ;)

    Hi,

I am also waiting and feel silly checking the status 3 times a day...lol. We called the 800 # and were told that it is still within the time frame. Interesting to me was that we were told I could move to the states during the process, although if not approved I would have to move back. Has anyone else done this?

Here is hoping we get our NOA2's soon.
