FYI, I haven't seen that be accurate for anyone in the past few months. On mine, it got down to 0 days and then said "We are taking longer than expected to process your case." It's been like that for over a month now.

Apple passed her interview. It only took 20 minutes.

    The interviewer asked:
    Full name
    Address
    Spouse name
Have you ever told someone that you are a U.S. citizen?

What ocean is on the east coast?
What was the main concern during the cold War?
What was the war between the north and the south?
How long is the president elected for?

Hey there! I actually do this now, and have been since 2017. I lived in one border city when we started the CR-1 process. Midway through the CR-1, I moved to another border city and continued visiting. I still work in that city but now live in Michigan. We were together for 7 years before I emigrated and I never had a problem visiting. I was always forthright about the petition/visa and kept proof of ties to Canada in my car (which I never had to show). I actually had the visa in hand for a couple months before I moved (due to having an apartment lease), and customs didn't care (I visited using a Nexus, and left my passport at home in Canada).

The tax stuff honestly isn't that bad, but I guess it depends on your income and other investments. Since you live in a border town, there will be accountants around who specialize in CAN/USA taxes. We hired a professional the first year to make sure it was done properly.

People always think my life is some gigantic hassle but it's really not bad at all. I love my job and have a pension I wasn't willing to give up. We do eventually plan to move to Canada, so keeping one foot in the door will be helpful to us anyway. In all honesty, I kind of love it because I get the best of both worlds (minus health care, blah).

If there's anything I can help with, let me know!

I really hope I hear something soon. There are only a couple of other N400 filers in Detroit on here, and judging by both their timelines, I should have been scheduled for my interview before the pandemic. I'm starting to get really frustrated. 👎

Count me in as another person who lived on the border (first Sarnia, then Windsor) who visited about every other weekend and had zero issues. I did that for 7 years and never once got sent to secondary or refused.

This was super helpful. Thank you! I have my appointment booked with Dr. Ian Zatzman in a few weeks and was wondering how the whole process works. This definitely set my mind at ease. Also, thank you for posting about how to access my immunization records. I've been looking for that little yellow booklet everywhere. Fingers crossed everything goes well and I can be in Texas with my husband shortly after the new year. Thanks again :)

It's strange how one border can have two totally different reputations. Same with the border agents. Some people swear CBP are dicks, some people swear CBSA are jerks. I guess the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

JlovesA got a reaction from Toronto88 in Does Montreal consulate still have the option of both mail and electronic processing for IR-1/CR-1 visa?
I think most couples do electronic processing, but we couldn't seem to condense our emails down enough, so we ended up just mailing them in. I think doing it that way cost us about two weeks, if that matters to you. But yes, they offer both electronic and mail.

He will need to have his fingerprints done and sent to one of the companies at this site: http://www.rcmp.gc.ca/en/who-can-conduct-criminal-record-check

It looks like it's taking about 6 months to get it back if it's ink prints so I would get on it as soon as possible, or go with one of the companies who will submit the ink prints electronically.

You should only need the one page divorce certificate. That's what I used at mine and it was accepted no problem.

I can't comment on the tax return but I can tell you they didn't even look at any of my husband's tax/affidavit of support stuff at the interview! That was for a CR-1 though, not sure if that happens at K-1 interviews too.

Just an FYI, don't show up at 7am. Things have changed and the consulate will only let you in 15 min before your interview. I had a 10:30am appointment today and was turned away at 10:00am, told to come back at 10:15am. We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott which was excellent.

There have been lots of stories here about people whose medical envelope got opened for one reason or another. It's not a crime, you'll be fine. Just call the medical place and tell them what happened. I'm sure it's a question they get frequently.

Not sure if anyone cares, but I logged into the CEAC site on the 27th or 28th and noticed we had gotten the third "N/A." Received an email on the 30th with my interview date in Montreal.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

JlovesA got a reaction from Carpe Vinum in Second Fiance Visa Question
I don't think anyone here has mentioned that if she finds out at the consular interview that you were married, they could theoretically deny her visa because of it. Generally, bonafied couples reveal this kind of information to each other. If I found out at the interview that my fiance had a previous marriage he had been hiding from me, I'd walk out the interview and refuse to marry him. That's just me, but you should definitely disclose your previous marriage to her.
