  1. Thank you. I already printed all the forms and I am going to start filling out every thing I can. The only thing I am a little worried about is the proof that she will not be a financial burden to the US. I have a salary in the mid forties, but I do not have money in the bank. Also, I am part owner of a two flat building. Do I have to have a letter from my employer or are the pay stubs enough proof?

I would advise you to get a letter too. Ive read that it is requested at the interview, in addition to 3 years of tax returns and at least 3 pay stubs.

I dont have much money in the bank either, your salary should suffice and if you have any investments or retirement accounts, print statements for those too because it will help.

  2. Thank you. The reason why I am concerned is because I jumped the gun and booked a flight to Cuidad Juarez on 09/19/10. I just want to find out if they have it and when they send packet 3 out with the invitation letter. I did not want to book the flight last minute because it would be more expensive.

I also booked the flight ahead of receiving the open appointment letter.

to this day my fiance hasn't received the packet 3 but she was able to interview in Juarez.

I received the single-sheet open appointment letter and made a copy for my fiance. She was able to use it for her medical exam. For the actual interview, she requested the original at the consulate prior to her interview.

As others have posted, you can download the packet and all the instructions via the cdj consulate website. The only thing material in the packet is your case number and the letter bearing the beneficiary's name.

Either way, you should begin collecting the info you need right away since your flight is creeping up.

Good luck to the both of you, I will be in CDJ 22-27

  3. My fiance just finished up her interview and they informed her that they also needed to interview me. This is really rough on my financial situation since I will have to fly my fiance out there again as well as myself and miss a week of work. Anyone else run into this? Their reason was that we havent been together all that long. We first started talking last June and I met her in person last early last November. I've visited her three times for a week each time.

    Thanks for your feedback...

  4. Hey everyone. I haven't received my NOA2 yet but wanted to ask a few questions to better prepare myself.

I've read somewhere that there are two clinics at which my fiance can receive her medical exam. Which is the clinic you all recommend? On Isi's recommendation we are anticipating staying at the Holiday Inn Las Misiones because it is located near the consulate and bank (and for obvious safety reasons). We'd like to find the clinic closest to the hotel and with the least waiting time.

Secondly, I wanted to know how much we should bring for fees. The medical exam, DHL, etc. And whether credit card was the best way to pay for these fees. I want to avoid holding cash whenever possible.

  5. Yes, they are relevant to your long term stability. They are also often requested, so it's better to provide them than delay the visa while you respond to a request for the. The unemployment period will not hurt you if seen in context.

Thanks so much for your help and the peace of mind

  6. The I-134 you use for the K1 visa asks for your current income, so last year doesn't matter at this point. State your current salary and provide a couple of your most recent pay stubs to evidence it. I'd throw in you last three years tax returns as well to show you have long term good income history.

Is the last three years of tax returns relevant if I was living off benefits the last year?

  7. Ive been working in the Finance industry for the last 3 years and made an average of roughly 50K, annually. Heres my question. From January 1-March 31st, I accrued salary in the amount of $11,000. From March 31, 2009-December 31, 2009 I was collecting unemployment for a total of $18,000 in benefits. My question is how this will affect my affidavit of support? Is unemployment benefits considered reportable income for the I-134 does it not count? I'm confused...

I have been employed since Jan 4, 2010 and am earning a 50K salary and should have no problem getting a letter confirming my status.

    Any help is appreciated.
