  1. we got ours in 82 days, but having said that theres still afew others here that havent got their NOA2s back yet either, at least you know your not on your own but I guess that isnt much help. You could always get in touch with your local Congressmans office. Thats what we did and afew others here. They can at least find out for you where you are, give you piece of mind that your actually there and they havent forgot about you.......maybe all your files are together in a ....dum dum dummmm "box" and they havent picked that one up till last????? Just a thought/idea...but Id maybe get in touch with the congress....fingers crossed for you that it arrives real soon.

thanks Princess. i'll have Joe call and see whats what. i know i'd read a few others had done it as well. silly that we actually have to go to that extreme. but it's the gov't, i hadn't expected this to be easy peasy either.

  2. Crossposting from the Jan K-1 thread:

Got the RFE in today! And yes, we missed A SIMPLE YES OR NO QUESTION. Whether or not I've been convicted of a crime/military cirme/etc. I don't know why I must have missed something so stupid, or that I didn't catch it when I looked over the packet a thousand times, but I'm SO GLAD it was just something dumb on my half. :) :) :) I'm sending the response today while it's still early via UPS so it will be in Vermont by MONDAY. I feel so relieved. My fiance is ecstatic, too. I'm feeling a little bashful but oh well. Is that an approval I smell on the way?

phew! glad it was a mere missed question and not something they were demanding more from you proof wise. *keeps her fingers crossed that your approval comes very soon*

  3. I thought our almost 5 years would be enough, too, but VSC is a fickle mistress. I'm sure yours will go smoothly. I'm 99% sure my RFE is a missed signature or something equally dumb like that, because if they honestly have the audacity to ask for more evidence that we've been in the same place at the same time while I sent them pictures and visa evidence of us being in: New Jersey, Washington DC, Denmark, England, and more.. they've got another thing coming.

i sincerely hope it's something that minor. it's just a shame that it puts a delay on things. i hope you're able to clear it up quickly *keeps fingers crossed*

  4. The consulate received our packet 3 on Feb. 19, we were told when our interview date would be on March 19, and the actual interview is on May 3. So I guess about 2.5 months but there were people who mailed in packet 3 in Jan who have dates for interviews later in May than my fiance and me. Just remember that nothing is linear, in and out.

    thank you lila :)

  5. aww S and T, that's pretty crummy that you can't stay longer then 30 days.

i'm grateful i'm from canada. joey drove 8hrs to come pick me up, we drove 8hrs back together. now i'm camping out at his house for the duration until our NOA2 comes up. it's made the wait far more bearable then had i'd stayed at my parents place in ontario. it was hard enough to leave him after our visit in january. so admittedly, i feel spoiled compared to some of our group. having to wait, separated and stuff. in truth i feel horrible but very lucky.

i've heard they've started the february petitions. so gonna keep my fingers crossed for everyone in our tiny group that they really start to hammer them out.

there's also rumours flying around in the US that the govt is trying to pass a bill to abolish the borders in north america. meaning citizens of Canada and Mexico can move to the US legitimately. anyone doing a north american move heard about this??

  6. this is all i get when i check my case file number. so no touches i guess.

On February 24, 2010, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

    etc etc

this makes me a sadpanda :(

  7. While we're waiting for the NOA2, is anybody preparing things like police certificates, etc?

I've already sent away for and received my extended birth certificate. For the past 32yrs I've only ever had the small wallet-sized one. So got that. When I get back from my visit, I'll walk down to the Police station up the street and meet with some of my old College buddies that work there and get my CPIC record printed. I've already had a pre-medical with my family doctor and all looks good. Waiting for my teter tests to come back. Joey hasn't begun the affidavit or 2nd letter of intent yet, as by the looks of it we still have another 2mths to go before we even hear back from NOA2. I have a list of what to expect for packet 3, so it's just a matter of printing it out and sending it back to Montreal. Right now, we're just preparing to have Easter Weekend with his family in Jersey. It'll be nice to see his parents again (they love me more then him I think >.<), but we're surprising them. They don't know I'm down visiting again hehe

  8. I used to be a Front Desk rep at a large hotel chain, but I recently quit my job so that I could free up enough time to travel back and forth to visit Joey in the US. I've moved home with my parents to stay with them and put in as much time as I can before coming to the US permanently. Given that we cannot travel for our first year here, unless we submit forms to release us for travel. Right now, I'm at Joey's place in Maryland, visiting for a few weeks, maybe longer. It's helping us pass the time between NOA1 and NOA2 which we hope to hear back from in the next month or so.
