One of the important differences is that the AZ law requires police to stop everybody who looks, you know, that way, and if regular folks think they aren't being fascist--ahem, I mean diligent--enough, they can SUE THEM.

Why is the middle name issue a topic but not the other, far more damaging revisions? As in, the absurd and demonstrably false notion that McCarthyism has been vindicated, that the slave trade be referred to as the "Atlantic triangular trade"--it's still slave-a-rific but sounds much prettier!--the incorrect meaning of separation of church and state, and the minimization of the role of Thomas Jefferson.

It is an approval for the next step, of applying for the visa. Your fiance is cleared to apply for one. So your lawyer may not be totally useless; it's just that things are getting lost in translation.
Think of the process as having two steps: The first is you petitioning for the Okay to have your fiance apply for a visa. The second is your fiance applying for the visa.
What you see on the USCIS site is all about that first step. They don't handle the actual visa part. Forget USCIS now. You got your approval there and that's great. Now focus on NVC and DoS and making sure your case gets settled in at the embassy abroad. You're at step 2, when your fiance will prepare documents for the embassy and carry on on that end. You can be her liaison by accessing info about when her various packets are being sent, when her interview date has been scheduled, etc. You'll also be preparing a package of all documents and additional items to send her for the interview itself.

Nobody is arguing your intent or worthiness or anything. It's just that you've framed much of your case in terms of "how it should be" when that doesn't really play. I think if people are encouraging you to look at things in a realistic way, it's because they think your seeing the issue without blinders will be your best bet for success. It doesn't matter that marijuana is harmless. It's still a thing. It's still a roadblock. We are all hoping for your success. But wishful thinking, and any attempt to wiggle around the strict process, is going to end in frustration. I, for one, have been there. We all learned one way or another to bow down to the powers that be and play their game their way. It's not hopeless, but arguing that it shouldn't be as it is won't get you anywhere. And the purpose of this forum is to get you where you want to be.
